CCR is one of the greatest rock bands hands down. They're known for their bayou sound but they're actually from El Cerrito California, though John Fogarty's voice apparently didn't get the memo. They've put out some so many timeless classics. I would definitely recommend checking out their recording of Proud Mary at some point but my favorite from them has to be their version of I Put A Spell On You. Keep it up guys.

CCR had 10 hit songs in less than 4 years from 1968 to early 1972. John Fogerty, the lead singer, is a true poet the way he writes the lyrics.

I grew up on the great music of the 60's-70's. CCR has always been one of my favorites. John Fogerty has one of the most unique & recognizable voices around. They don't have a bad song! Huge list of hits! "I Heard It Through The Grapevine", "Proud Mary", "I Put A Spell On You", "Fortunate Son", "Down On The Corner", "Green River", "The Midnight Special", "Susie Q", "Have You Ever Seen The Rain?", "Travelin' Band", "Run Through The Jungle", "Long As I Can See the Light", "Sweet Hitchhiker", "Bad Moon Rising" etc.

Studio version is amazing. John Fogerty (singer, lead and lyricist) is still performing live. Two or three of his kids join him and play guitar very well on stage. He has had an incredible solo career. If you're interested I suggest : "The Old Man Down The Road".👍👍

this is how the sixties came to end and CCR was red hot - everything they did was just what we wanted. we followed them into the cusp of the seventies and they were so good. you could do yourself a favor and dedicate half your time from now till xmas just playing CCR tunes - you would see why everyone loves them.

The late 60's were a cataclysmic time for R&R music. I was in college and there were anti-war protests on all the major college campuses, including mine. Much of the music reflected the thoughts and feelings of many college people at the time.

John Fogarty tells a story about their time at Woodstock. They were supposed to go on in the late evening, but do to the band before them going over their time and a massive downpour they didn't start until 2 or 3 in the morning. He said as he looked out at the crowd everyone was passed out, drenched and covered in mud. He announced the band and one guy said something and passed back out.

While a lot of their songs revolved around life in the deep south, especially the gulf coast (their music is often colloquially called "swamp rock"), the band itself came from the San Francisco area. They put quite a few songs into the top 40, so you have a lot of songs to choose from, and you will find that they are all bangers. I would recommend "Proud Mary", "Suzy Q", and "Have You Ever Seen the Rain" as some of their best. They also did a fantastic cover of "I Heard It Through the Grapevine" that you should really hear, although I would say listen to the Marvin Gaye version first so you know what the listening public's conception of that song would have been when CCR released their cover. One last recommendation I would make is that if you find there is both a short version and a long version of a CCR song, listen to the long one. The album versions of their songs sometimes include long instrumental jams that were cut from the shortened singles versions formatted for radio play, and CCR were masters at jamming.

It's a much shorter fior TV version of this song vs. The studio version but so great anyway. CCR was a phenomenal group and Fogarty's vocals were unique, bringing in that blues rock feel. Their version of Heard it Through the Grapevine and I Put a Spell on You demonstrate their love of R & B and Blues they mix with their Riock sound.

Their song Fortunate Son is one of the many Vietnam protest songs. The lyrics talk about the rich kids that didn't have to go fight and the poor/middle class kids that did. Used in a lot of war movies about that era. Great song.

Every reactor who hears CCR for the first time disappears down the rabbit hole eventually. That combination of Fogerty's nasty vocals and the classic skunk rock instrumental sound just can't be beat. Hit after hit after hit, with a unique blend of nostalgia and protest. A full album reaction to "Willy and the Poor Boys" would be awesome.

They weren't around for long but they left a legacy and a half...very unique band. From California but their sound is Swamp Rock and they sound Southern. I suggest one of my top 5 favourite all time songs, Creedence's cover of I Heard it through the Grapevine but you must do the 11 minute version. If i hear the short version on the radio, i turn it off in disgust but the long version is absolute gold.

They have such a deep catalog, they put out so much incredible music in a handful of years. So many hits and just so much good stuff. One of America's favorite bands. And some of their songs have been in tons of movies and video games and commercials but mostly movies. When he was talking at the end there he was trying to get what I think was probably the side feel monitor active so you've always got a manager stage first and it sounded kind of haphazard, but honestly in that mix, I could pick out everything perfectly but then my ears are used to that kind of thing. But what he was doing after that was introducing their very next song and he said it was going to be a short one, and it was their iconic hit, Green River, which is the title track from one of their incredible albums. Definitely check out some studio stuff now that you know what they look like. These are recordings that just got played so much on the radio and so much at parties and other peoples houses and this song right here was an incredible song to dance to and do other fun things with.

CCR is a well-known band whose music is in movies and was standard on the radio, even decades after their official era. "Swamp rock" is the term coined mainly for them.

You will be listening to many of CCR's songs if you are serious about music. Even more important to understanding the era, however, is watching scenes from Woodstock. There have been many, many documentaries, but for me the best chronicle is the first movie released in 70/71. The Jimi Hendrix version of The Star Spangled Banner is mesmerizing, but for me, Sly and The Family performing "I Want to Take You Higher" is high point of the movie. The promoters lost their shirts at Woodstock, and they only recouped their investment from the movie rights.

They were from California but after all the great songs they made about Louisiana, the state of Louisiana adopted CCR as honorary sons. Also 'who do there' just means, 'who's there'.

Way back then (and I should know), drummers still used conventional grip. Sometime later they found if they flipped their left hand to a matched grip with their right, they could generate a lot more power. Loved your reaction.

CCR has long been one of my favorite bands. In 1969 they appeared on the Ed Sullivan show where Ed introduced them as the number one band in the US and Canada. The performance that night was their song, Fortunate Son. When you hear it you'll know you've heard it before.

Hoo Doo is basically a magical tradition from former slaves of African persuation. Often confused with Voodoo. The band was from California by the way, although they were frequently mistaken as a southern rock band.
