The instrument she is playing is The mountain dulcimer is also called the Appalachian dulcimer, the lap dulcimer, or the hog fiddle.

It's a mountain dulcimer, which is strummed. I've made two. Both have 4 strings but you can move a string so two are close together and act as one. Some say the dulcimer is the first all-American instrument. There is another type called a hammered dulcimer.

I think the instrument she’s playing is a dulcimer. It’s a stringed instrument from the Appalachian Mountains (not sure if it’s found elsewhere). I personally enjoy this song with this slower tempo more than the original. ‘True Colors’ is a beautiful Lauper.

This version is very different from the one she had a hit with in the 1980s. I'd almost describe this version as a lieder (formal art song).

I think the instrument you're talking about is a dulcimer! It's such a haunting, delicate sound. It's more common in traditional folk and bluegrass, but I love when it shows up in unexpected places like this!

Cyndi on the Howard Stern show doing a very slow acoustic version which few are not feeling that much, nothing beats the original recording but i agree few other clips i would've chosen. Specially the 1985 performance of Time After Time with Patti Labelle is amazing. I drove All Night by Cyndi Lauper from At Last Concert is a good choice for a reaction. Love Cyndi!

Time after Time (featuring Sarah McLachlan) acoustic version is very good, their performance for American Music Awards is great. A must see live performance by Cyndi is from Live in Paris Tour, singing a 1963 song from Jackie Wilson "Baby Workout" she delivers & the band was amazing. One of my favorite performances by Cyndi Lauper.

This was recorded/played on the Howard Stern show in 1995 supporting the best of CD Twelve Deadly Cyns...and Then Some. She also played All through the Night. This little 'studio' was extremely small room and there was no A/C or proper air flow. Since it was in acoustic form, she wanted it in a more folk like manner, you can hear this same arrangement on her acoustic CD "The Body Acoustic." Not sure why some folks hated this version, I think this version was very emotional and if y'all think her vocals weren't great ... she still sounded better than any chick in the top ten at that time even with their autotune. She has performed this song with Patti LaBelle twice; one in 1985 and the other in 2004 for VH1's Divas Live series. I prefer the 2004 version. If you prefer live stuff ... there are some good live performances of her Blues covers, notably Don't Cry No More on Jimmy Fallon.

CL was and is an Shunshine, just watch some Interviews with her, all true natural and lighten up any Room she is in. if you watch the long version of the Making of Band Aid for Africa Feed the World, the Part where she trippled up with other Artists, the guy(was ist Kenny Rogers?) did suck it many times, and she just find excuses for him, did take the blame... and best scene as the mixer calls up on her chains....such an lovely person.

Seriously! MrLBoyd, I think you are a fantastic reactor that has the ability to digest the content and provide interesting insight. I also appreciate the idea of reacting to a live performance of the artist but the videos that you react to are running at about a 30% clip. 70% of the videos you react to are odd renditions, poor audio quality or a performance by the artist when they are way past their prime. Today was a good example, I was excited to see your reactions to both this song and Rhiannon but both videos were hard to watch knowing there are such better versions available. Anyway, rant over, I hope this comes across as constructive criticism and not hate because I am a fan

Bro, I love your videos, but whoever decided to send you this song DOES NOT have the best interests of the wider viewership in mind!!! :P I know you like to do all genres and styles, but this is like...
