Darius is built different. Dude promised if the SC Women's basketball team won the National Championship he would give a free concert for everyone. They won...he did.
The best black country singer hands down is Mr Charlie Pride! That mans voice could melt your soul and make you feel so warm and good! superb singer, phenomenal.
Charlie Pride during the late 1960's and through the 70's was one of the biggest country stars there were. The guy had 29 #1 singles on the country charts.
There's also this black chick that is very much at the top of the game within country these days. I'm sorry that I don't listen to country so I do not know her name off top. You guys help me if you can. What's that old track from the '90s that Darius Rucker had with that band in Alt? There was one huge song that was before my time but I love it and don't remember the name
I would say #2 best and he would agree with me. Charlie Pride is #1. He passed from Covid during the Pandemic. Play some Charlie Pride please! I absolutely loved Charlie Pride growing up . One of my favorites ever!
I'm a 50 year lod white man from Missouri. It's nice to see your excitement for something new to you. Beats and stories transcend lines on a mad or color. You feel it. Love you guys.
CHARLIE PRIDE is American black country singer of all times, he is a legend,RIP CHARLIE, react to his music, he was in the music business back in the 50s to up to death a few yrs ago, most of the people was from the tv show "DUCK DANASTY"merry Christmas, love from Virginia
Hey y'all. Darius is from Charleston SC, started Hootie & the Blowfish when a student at THE University of South Carolina. We love and adore Darius here in SC for the outstanding person he is, and of course his huge talent a performer
I love that homeboy knows so much about The Robertsons(Duck Dynasty) I smiled every time he recognized one of them. Made my heart so happy💜 Darius is in my top 5 for country artists. My mom absolutely loved him💜
Jimmie Allen is the 2nd African American to win CMA award for Best New Artist (2018), since DRucker in 2009. His trajectory has him on pace to outshine DR. That being said, CPride deserves his flowers for breaking the color barrier and his pioneering career. He paved the way almost 50 years ago. Respect
I said it before, I will say it again, watching videos from you guys makes me feel like I am hanging out with my friends. You guys are a blast! Thanks!!!
@@debbiewallace4907 Yes, I agree. Most young people these days are clueless, they have no idea what is going on with the rest of the world, and they only know what is on their smart phones. These fellas really are in tune with people, and they are a great group of guys. My Mother is 70, and she is a huge fan of these guys, she is the one who told me to check them out. I am 48, and I would love to hang out with these guys. Thanks for the message Debbie, may God bless you and yours.
Charley Pride, Jimmie Allen, Kane Brown, Shy Carter, War and Treaty, Mickey Guyton, Blanco Brown, Chapel Hart......check them out and prepare to be shocked. Charley Pride is a LEGEND!! All these artists are black and amazing!!
I’ve loved Darius since Hootie and the Blowfish days and him transitioning into country was perfect. Being friends with the Robertsons… classic!! Not to mention this song goes hard here cuz I live In Johnson City TN and ppl round here get wild bein given a shout out like that!!! Love you guys ❤️
I adore Darius. I’m also a huge Hootie fan. He’s amazing and always brings it. I experience all the feels when he sings. Love you guys are doing this one. It’s such a feel good song. Thanks for doing it! Merry Christmas, y’all. 🎄🎅🏼🎁
I was having a crappy day, then you kids has to go and make me smile! Just watching all your heads start bopping to the song.... Hootie is a favorite of mine but Darius doing country is the bomb. Thanks again.
Don’t think it’s possible to dislike this song. I grew up on 100% rock and metal. This is one of the greatest sing along songs ever. Entire weddings, bars, stadiums, singing together is a requirement
Darius Rucker is one of my favorite country singers. I was a fan when he was in Hootie and the Blowfish, and I am an even bigger fan of him now, and his solo career. This song reminds me of the good old days, when country was really good. These days, it's just mostly pop music.
Definitely more Chris Stapleton on the channel! Check out his live version of "Cold" at the 2021 CMA Awards, or the "Tennessee Whiskey/Drink You Away" medley he did with Justin Timberlake at the 2015 CMA Awards. Also "Sometimes I Cry", "Fire Away", "You Should Probably Leave". He did a killer version of "Hold On" with H.E.R. at the 2021 CMT Music Awards. All bangers.
Darius grew up in South Carolina listening to all kinds of music. He formed a band in the 90s with college buddies which became hugely successful and after they broke up he decided he wanted to tap into his country roots but wasn't sure how the country music community would accept him and if those that knew him as Hootie would like his style of country music. Well, as a fellow Gen X'er who also grew up listening to all kinds of music and can readily alternate listening to rock, pop, country, classical, R&B, Latin, and oldies, I was excited to hear Darius sing country songs for the first time. I love how country music tells stories that are relatable to the common man and as I get older I find myself turning to country music more than the other genres that I still love. I was just hoping that he would be successful and that he'd release songs that would fit into the 90s style of country music and not the latest "Bro Country" fad which has little lasting value. Well, not only did he release great music but his songs are a perfect blend of who he is and what he wants to say. His voice lends itself well to the genre and he surrounds himself with great musicians. My favorite of his songs are It Won't Be Like This For Long, Come Back Song, and If I Told You.
I've met Darius on two separate occasions. Hung out with him once for a bit. Genuinely good guy. One of the all-time greatest vocalists to ever live. I wish Hootie would tour more.
I was a fan of Hootie and the blowfish as a kid and love Darius’ country sound. I couldn’t care less what your skin color is or what genre you sing, I just love good music 😊 Btw, Oklahoma isn’t considered south, it’s the HEARTLAND of America 💪
One group not often played but a lot of fun is Kentucky Headhunters. Country rock, blues... Best songs are Dumas Walker and Walk Softly on this Heart of Mine.
@@Arobisme the OCMS original version is Bluegrass/Americana. Darius Rucker’s cover is mainstream Country. I personally prefer the OCMS original, but they are apples and oranges.
If you liked that you need to do Hootie & the Blowfish “Let Her Cry” all time favorite of Darius’. One of his first country songs he wrote!! Such an AMAZING song & his voice, no words just no words. Gives me chills every single time I hear it. Was my jam back when it 1st came out back in 1994 & still is my jam almost 20 years later.
It's such a joy to watch you 4 young men enjoy so many genres of life. I absolutely feel your emotions. Cool to enjoy these things with you. We need more people in this world like you guys. Open minded fair and loving.
The best version of this song is by Old Crow Medicine Show. That’s one of my BF’s favorite songs ever. I was indifferent to it at first. Then after listening to it with him a few times , it is now on my playlist 😊. I love that version .
Shout out to the Okie from one born and raised in Choctaw!Charlie Pride is a legend and I hope you do a little research on him because his voice was pure velvet!
Have seen him twice in Virginia Beach........... waiting for concert #3. He has a PERFECT country voice. His country songs are awesome in concert and the hits from Hootie and the Blowfish are icing on the cake! He puts on a helluva show. Great reaction guys, TY.
The song Seminole Wind by John Anderson, would be a great country song to react too. Its about the Seminole Indians down in Florida. It's so different sounding, and absolutely beautiful
I adore Darius Rucker!!! He’s got the best voice… I knew him first as Hootie and the Blowfish. Loved them too… but I love his country songs. ❤ (sigh) Thank You, God for him!
You guys should definitely check out more Darius Rucker. This song is actually a cover but it's one of the best covers I've ever heard. Two of my favorite songs by him are; Don't think I Don't think about it and Love Me Anyway. Should also check his original band Hootie and the Blowfish.
I know y’all heard of Charlie Pride. Ok, none of “the Midwest” is west, any way you slice it. You can call it “the Midwest” even though some of it borders Canada-whatever😅
Charley Pride was the greatest black country singer and paved the way for guys like Darius Rucker. Some of his best songs - Kiss an Angel Good Morning, Is Anybody Goin' to San Antone, Burgers and Fries, Mississippi Cotton Picking Delta Town.
Thats Lady Antebellum band at the end speaking...he had so much support in the country community when he switched from Rock/Pop to Country. All of the country listeners were happy to have him ❤
Charlie Pride was probably the first real Country singer with his famous song Kiss an Angel in the Morning and love Her like a Devil when you get back home 😊
Love Darius but Charlie Pride was the greatest black country singer of all time. Kiss an Angel Good Morning. Great Charlie Pride song. He died about 8 months ago of Covoid he was I do believe 77 or 78. He was an absolute legend! Willy and his wife from Duck Dynasty adopted a black child at birth. He's at least 18 now. Handsome young man.
I just subscribed. I love y'all's reactions. This video is awesome. I really think you guys need to react to Zac Brown Band's The Day That I Die. You guys will absolutely love it. It hits different when you've just recently lost someone close to you. Peace and all the best.
@@raymondweaver8526 Dylan wrote a BUNCH of songs you might not be aware of.... "All Along The Watchtower" (Hendrix), "Mr. Tambourine Man" (Byrds), "Knocking On Heaven's Door" (Warren Zevon/Guns N Roses), just to name a few. I've NEVER been a fan of Dylan's singing, but he's one of the best songwriters out there!!
Stoked! Great song with interesting history. Old Crow Medicine Show's version is good too!! I played this every night when I used to bartend. I love your faces- nothing like the soothing, joyous sounds of mandolin, banjo, fiddle 😉🧡✌️☘️🥁 this one def a banger- and a wowzer
Y'all need to react to Home Free End of The Road. It's a Boys II Men cover. My dad showed me this group and they're incredible. They're an acapella group so there are NO instruments. It's ALL done by mouth. You won't be disappointed. By the way, my dad (in his 60s) watches you guys so I know he'd love to see y'all react to Home Free.
This is a live performance "Darius Rucker - It Won't Be Like This For Long(Official Music Video)" this song is the title track from Rucker's debut country solo album "Learn To Live" the same record which produced his first 5 hit country music singles. "Don't Think I Don't Think About It", "It Won't Be Like This For Long" and "Alright", "History In The Making" and "I Got Nothing" If you are looking to start listen to an album by him, this would be the one I'd start with. (IMHO) I think the whole album is a great listen. Oh...and just so you know Darius Rucker wasn't the only black country music artist, there was Charlie Pride, and he became so big that his name was a common household name. Ask your grandparents if they have ever heard of the legendary "Charlie Pride - Kiss An Angel Good Morning" Great reaction👍 thanks for sharing🔥🎶🎸🤠
Hey guys - Oklahoma is part of the “Southern Plains”. I was born & raised in southern Oklahoma, then spent 23 years in South Carolina till I retired & moved back HOME to Oklahoma. Love watching you guys! 😊❤
This is the first video I’ve seen of you guys and you definitely gained a new fan. Wagon Wheel is one of my favorite song. They just announced that Hootie and The Blowfish are going on tour next year ! Can’t wait
Our kids love this, especially as toddlers! I have videos of our "southern kids" singing this!😂❤🇺🇲🦅 NC born and bread! My kids and me!...Hubby was born in Kentucky! Thank God we found each other!!!❤ Kentucky is just as beautiful as North Carolina's coast and mountains!❤
