Ikanaide is a very emotional and famous song and has been covered by many famous singers in Mandarin with one version in Cantonese ( a Chinese dialect commonly spoken by many in China's Guangdong Province and in Hong Kong).

Dimash will never cease to surprise & amaze you because all his songs are different in the vocals , techniques & showmanship. Even if he sings the same songs. he can change the techniques of the song and will sound a different version. That’s how Dimash. He continues to improve his versatility of his music to a diff ent dimension. I myself have followed him since that day he catapulted to overnight sensation when he first competed at the Singer I. China since 2017. I followed his journey since then and been improving with his vocals, techniques and the kind of music he created or co-wrote with the group if songwriters, music composer and singers from different countries . My suggestion if you haven’t reviewed it yet is check out his song, Olympico (sometimes spelled Olimpico). You’ll really get to hear his vocal range in this one. His low range is just as sick as his high range.

The Chinese (Autuumn Strong) and Japanese (Ikanaide/ Please, Don’t Go) versions have completely different lyrics.. Both are based on a true story. The Chinese version shows the image of leaves dancing in the autumn wind as a metaphor for how fate affected Yoshiko Yamaguchi's life. ...sad but inevitable and irrevocably The Japanese version does not want to accept the loss, is full of pain, pleads, suffers ... heartbreaking. I'm totally fascinated by how sensitively Dimash distinguishes and conveys to the listener the feelings of sadness and loneliness in the Chinese version and loss and pain in the Japanese version. Even his whisper and his breath are music... it breaks my heart and the tears keep flowing.I have never heard anything like this from a singer in my entire life. That is true mastery. The original Japanese version Ikanaide/ Don’t Go(composed 1989) is by Koji Tamaki (*1958, Japanese songwriter). The sad true story... very touching: It is about Yoshiko Yamaguchi (*1920-2014), a Chinese-born Japanese actress during World War II. She hid her Japanese heritage under the name Li XIanglan and became famous in China. However, when the war was over and she revealed her identity, she was accused of being a spy. She was deported to Japan and longed for China. Ms. Yamaguchi did not return to China until many years as deputy environment minister in the Japanese parliament. The song is a metaphor as the lyrics speak of how a person should hide what they are feeling. Koji Tamaki sent a wonderful message to Dimash, thanking him, and praising him for singing his song in Japanese. I’m so glad you picked this story by Dimash. There is another translation called autumn strong Dimash sang on the show Ian a singer in 2017. This was a spiritual side of Dimash we have seen before. Ave Maria with no words, a vocalise, know, a vocalise, qairin Elim a documentary music video. We just don’t always get this from our music on the radio. It used to be you could get it from country and gospel music. They have just about auto tuned it’s out. They story of the song was during a war I assume between Japan and China an actress singer fled to China where she performed under cover in China. After the war she was exposed and sent away to never be in China again. What I don’t understand was the praise and applause Dimash got from the song in China because this sounds negative t2ards the Chinese. Dimash is like no other musician story teller I’ve ever known. He’s real. Elvis sang his gospel albums then slept with many women while Priscilla Presley stayed at home. Then he abused his body even from the days in the military. Dimash honors all his family and his God. Thank you for this reaction. Dimash is the real thing. His open mouth going from the end of a word in a line into the ropiest word of the next line was done all throughout the line. Pop doesn’t do this. I Bobby from the righteous brothers did it in unchained melody and billy Joel in honestly did it on that word. We get an ethereal sense when Dimash does it.m

Dimash sang (and recorded) "Ikanaide" live for the Tokyo Jazz Festival Live stream in January of 2021. According to several native Japanese speakers, Dimash's pronunciation of the lyrics is nearly flawless. One native speaker, who gave a detailed analysis, stated that he is "expressing Japanese more (better) than Japanese" and that he does not only perfectly pronounce Japanese but "expresses Japanese…with Japanese emotion.". Goro Matsui, who wrote the lyrics to "Ikanaide," posted on his Twitter account that he has never heard a foreigner sing in Japanese in such a beautiful way. Tamaki Kōji composed the music and performed the song in 1989. "Ikanaide" became the title song for the Chinese-Japanese TV series "Farewell, Li Xianglan," filmed that year. It is the story of Yoshiko Yamaguchi, a beloved Chinese-born Japanese actress and singer during World War II who hid her Japanese heritage under the name Li XIanglan. Following the war, when the Chinese became aware of her Japanese heritage, she was accused of being a spy and sentenced to death by firing squad for treason and collaboration with the Japanese; she had been involved in the production of Japanese propaganda films. Thanks to the intervention of influential friends, she was cleared of all charges but urged to leave China or risk being lynched. This song went on to earn Dimash the "Best Foreign Singer" award during the Golden Melody Award in Hong Kong.
