This was a dream come true for Dimash. He shared that, at the age of 5, he had a VHS of a concert by Maestro Domingo and he dreamed of meeting and working with him from that time. I am sure Dimash appreciated the opportunity to support young classical artists at the invitation of Maestro Domingo. We hope that all his dreams come true and we will be there to support him.

I grew up with Plácido Domingo and my favorite singer now is Dimash. To see them sing a duet wasn’t only Dimash’s dream come true but mine too. A historical moment a living legend and a legend in the making, my emotional meltdown.

Dimash used to listen to Placido when growing up and had always said he wished he had the opportunity to sing with him. Placido became aware of Dimash through his 18-year-old grandson and it was Placido, after meeting Dimash, who suggested that they should sing something together. This is a dream come true for Dimash.

Placido and DImash got to meet each other at the virtuoso competition. Placido asked Dimash to be a judge for the competition and also asked him to do a duet. Dimash was gob smacked because Placido is one of Dimash heros. I do not do opera at all but this performance speaks to my heart. I cry every time i listen to it.

To top off this beautiful performance is the fact that they only had one rehearsal together the day before. They are both such master's of their craft. The respect they have for each other. Dimash was able to pull back his power just enough to perfectly match Placido Domingo's. I have the utmost respect for Maestro Domingo. He's 83 year's old and still has that beautiful voice. Their vibratos were perfectly in sync. You need to check out the short video of them meeting for the first time. Placido was truly happy to meet Dimash. He said his grandson introduced him to Dimash on RU-vid. And it was Placido that said he wanted to do a duet. Such a beautiful, special moment. I almost feel like this was a "passing of the torch" moment between the legend Placido Domingo and the younger legend Dimash.

This was written back in about 1865, to be a scene in an ancient temple where the two best friends fell in love with the goddess who perhaps was a high priestess, and it divided them and so they promised to both give her up in favour of their everlasting frienship. This song is apparently very popular in the operatic arena, and I guess because of the amazing crescendos and decresendos which really feature the singers beautiful frequencies and control. It is written to be very emotional and astounding at the same time. This performance , in my opinion, has probably done more for giving the taste of opera to the general population than anything ever before it. Both Dimash and Placido have huge followings, worldwide, so this blend has been organised from above. Imagine if these two were to do a full concert and record it for sale. It would be used forever in so many directions. Thanks for your great response, but none of us can help that for this one. It is inevitable.

Of course, Dimash has Opera training, and he was qualified as a tenor voice, and was offered to be a part of the staff in Astana Opera House, but he refused because he wanted to explore other ways to express his skills and emotions through different styles. Though you can't hear him in this classic music, both are wonderful, and Dimash did a remarkable Job!! Thank you 🎉

This is a dream come true for Dimash. He shared that, at the age of 5, he had a VHS of a concert by Maestro Domingo. He dreamed from then to now to meet and work with the Maestro. This was part of a program called Virtuosos, which supports young classical artists. Dimash was invited to be a judge on the program by Maestro Domingo. I know he appreciated the opportunity to support young artists. We are all do proud of him and hope all his dreams come true. Dimash learned this in one day and had only one rehearsal.

Dimash does a beautiful job singing in duets or trios. He sings for the music, not for his own ego. He is very respectful of the people he sings with, and he matches his style to those he is performing with, however the music demands.

@@suzanne6664 Suzanne, I grew up in Kazakhstan and you got me at a bad time, I'm sick of all the parvenu experts, my sister and friends went to uni with him, our parents friends from years of working on various projects and charities together, and my Mother told me the story she'd heard from aga Sveta. The world will not come to an end and I'm sorry you're breathless over inconsistencies, but my brothers ate at the new restaurant and I'm going next month and a big reunion. Pearl Fishers was written by the French composer, Georges Bizet. It was premiered on 30 September 1863 at the Théâtre Lyrique in Paris, and was given 18 performances in its initial run. The most amazing thing about this performance is that they had no rehearsal before doing it, and had only sung together for one hour. :)

It's in French. Dimash did say in a brief interview that from age 5 he hoped he could one day sing with Domingo. And Domingo invited Dimash to his virtuosos' judging panel, so the admiration is mutual.

You can tell by how his mouth is shaped that he's singing opera or maybe it's just me. lol.. This is a French song. Placido Domingo (now 83) has such a great voice. I saw him many years ago at the Metropolitan opera house. The song is about friends, falling in love with the same girl, but they decide together not to pursue her. They sound amazing together, but they only had one day to rehearse. Great reaction Luke!

I believe this song is about two friends who fall in love with the same girl. They are singing about their brotherhood and friendship...and that they'll both forego their love for this girl in honor of their friendship. You know, it's amazing that Dimash practiced this song for only one day. Additionally, had only one rehearsal with Placido Domingo and the orchestra. Take into account that Plácido Domingo is 82 years old ,to be able to sing like that at that age is a performance in itself.it takes a lifetime of discipline and training and love for music .On the other hand, him ,singing with Dimash is like passing the torch to the younger generations,an historical moment indeed.Greetings from a Romanian dear .

Okay, just a small note concerning the French language: you are correct that yes is “oui”, but there is also the word “si” which means if in French. This is a French title and a dream come true for Dimash. We partly have Placido Domingo to thank for being an inspiration to little boy Dimash to sing! Your enthusiasm is quite contagious. Placido Domingo turned 83 a few days following this performance. He sang several times with Luciano Pavarotti and José Carreras in an operatic super group called The Three Tenors: all three were considered the best tenors of their era. In this duet, Dimash has taken the tenor voice and Maestro Domingo is singing in the lower baritone part. It is natural for older voices to become somewhat lower. There are many examples of Dimash singing in groups and I hope that some of the other listeners provide you with some recommendations. (My favourites include Dimash with Super Vocal Boys singing Wueen medley, along with the trio of Dimash, Lara Fabian and Aida Garifiulina in Ti Amo Cossi, and the more recent Wei Wei and Dimash singing Join Hands, but this duo of Maestro Domingo and Dimash is sensational!). Yes, he can sing opera, too. He is trained in classical singing. He turned down an offer from the Astana Opera House because he didn't just want to sing opera. Luckily for all of us. Although I do really love when he sings that. I love his deeper tones. It's a duet with Plácido Domingo from George Bizet's Opera "The Pearl Fishers". In the opera world he is a legend. He sang together with Luciano Pavarotti and Jose Carreras. I don't know if you've ever heard of „The Three Tenors“. In January Plácido Domingo's celebrated his 83rd birthday. He and Dimash were judges in a talent-show for young classical talents in Budapest, Hungary. And in this show one of his biggest dreams came true with this duet Greetings and love from Germany👋❤️

The song actually is about two friends who nearly destroyed their friendship because they both fell in love with the same woman. Thank you. Placido and Dimash were judges in the 'Virtuoso' show. Placido met Dimash the day before (adorably! here's that link: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-T2qFE3aIP1Q.html) and asked him to sing a duet with him. They had 1 rehearsal. Also, Dimash did not feel well and had a cough! And yet, we get this masterpiece for our ears! They song is about 2 lifelong friends who fall in love with the same woman. When Placido met Dimash before this show(Placido said his granson had introduced him to Dimash on RU-vid) , he told Dimash he wanted to sing a duet with him. They had a very short time to rehearse. Placido said he would sing the baritone as his age (almost 83 at this time)has reduced his high range. This is from "The Pearl Fishers" by Georges Bizet (better known for writing Carmen). It's in French. The characters are two best friends meeting again after a long separation. They are reminiscing about a time they both fell in love with the same woman and it almost broke their friendship, but they both vowed to never see her again because their friendship was more important to them. It is one of the legendary duets in all of opera, and they are just BEYOND. Dimash could absolutely be a global opera star if he wanted.

I don't think he'd ever pursue true Opera, he loves experimenting with music too much. He always said that opera leaves no room for improvisation and that's why he turned down the position of tenor at The Astana Opera.

Besides continuing the Dimash guide by LiLaSi(which I really hope you will at some point), I recommend checking out the vocalise(no lyrics) version of "Know"(aka. "Ascolta La Voce") from his Arnau Concert in Kiev(it's different from the version you reacted to before), the Kazakh folk song "Samaltau"(Tokyo Jazz Festival), and perhaps "I'll Die for the Wind of the Mountains" from his Stranger Concert in Yerevan(it's an Armenian folk song), there's a great fancam by Dia Linwen(+ a subbed version with more context on the channel FanTributes).

Dimash was offered a place at a Kazakh opera house but he said the discipline of singing opera men’s you can’t improvise anything, you must sing it as it is written and Dimash wants to add something of his own to everything, but to get a chance to sing with placedo , he will harmonise and not try to overpower him, very respectful,

Placido Domingo, born Jan. 21, 1941 and Dimash, born May 24, 1994 singing this classic duet on December 10, 2023. So there's 53 years between them, let that sink in for a moment. Two things. I think I read somewhere that this duet is about two men fishing (friends, I believe) who are professing their love for the same girl. Also, several opera coaches in various videos have commented on how easy it would be for Dimash to drown out another singer due to his voice being so powerful, but he always finds a way to blend at the level at which the other singer performs. Go watch Ti amo cosi with Laura Fabian and Aida Garifullina. He matches his voice to each as he sings a duet with them.

Many bel canto teachers have verified that Dimash brings a cross interpretation between rigid classical singing (which must follow norms and exactly as the author of the piece wrote, from the notes and durations, the portamentos, the expressiveness... Everything) and much more popular flexibility. For purists, let's remember that Dimash had the dream of singing with Plácido Domingos since he was a child and it was the Maestro himself, Don Domingos, who suggested the duet (he knew that even with classical training, Dimash would sing as a cross between classical and pop )! Dimash only had one day to remember the work and make the recording, as this moment is part of the competition (like a talent show) for children with musical talent: The “Virtuosos”! Dimash, as well as Placido Domingos, were part of the Jury, accompanied by Erika Miklósa (opera singer), Adrás Keller (violinist, conductor and musical director of the Budapest Concert), Hauser (cellist), Plácido Domingos Jr. (singer and composer), Pablo Sanz Villegas (classical guitarist), Gabriela Rachid (cultural director) and Harvey Goldsmith (music promoter)! The show was in Budapest (Hungary) from January 16th to 26th this year, 2024!
