Hahaha, what a wonderful reaction! I just love to see someone experiencing Dirty Loops for the first time and have their mind blown. They started the group as a hobby project in 2008, and never thought it would be anything other than that. In 2010 they put up a video on youtube (a cover of Lady Gaga's "Just Dance"), as a booking reference, to see if they could get a gig or two, just for fun, as they thought their music was way too unsexy for anyone to actually like it. Needless to say, they were completely wrong. The video went viral and a LOT of people absolutely loved it. Just about everything they've ever released is of this ridiculous musical quality, so if you consider checking out more of them, you could basically pick anything, and you more than likely won't be disappointed. My personal favourite is one of their more jazz fusion-y pieces, "Work Shit Out". They've all known each other and played together for 20+ years by now, in their mid-thirties. Jonah (keyboard/vocals) and Henrik (bass) even went to music elementary school together and met when Henrik was 11 and Jonah was 9. Aron (drums) comes from another part of Sweden and came along when he moved to Stockholm at the age of 16, to attend the same music high school as they did (he was in the year between the other two). Then they all attended Kungliga Musikhögskolan (Royal College of Music) in Stockholm, where Henrik and Aron studied jazz/rock, and Jonah opted for music production as his main subject. Believe it or not, but Jonah says the piano is his first instrument, not the singing. He comes from a family of classical musicians, and has sung in choirs (mostly chamber choirs) his whole life, but started studying the classical piano when he was 11 and then switched to jazz mid-highschool. When they started the band he had never sung lead and didn't even know if he could. These dudes are ridiculous! 🤯

Thanks Lotta, for this detailed introdution to Dirty Loops. I still remeber my moment to discover them. It was by a post on facebook by a friend (a Jazz-guitarist) from my German hometown. Normally I don´t whatch music triggered like that, but I thought: if my friend... and it was "Work Shit Out". After the first 30 seconds I thought to listen to another "boygroup", but when they first started to loopify and playing with some well hidden jazz-chords, I started to realise, that it´s not another boygroup.... since that day, I am a big fan of Dirty Loops. Best greetings from Westfalia in Germany, Olaf 🙃😎

I think the most mindblowing part of this song is finding out that literally ALL the vocals in this track are Jonah, the lead singer. Aron the drummer wrote these choir backing vocals super last-minute, then he and Jonah assigned each part a "character", and Jonah would distort his voice to fit part so it would sound like a full choir.

Henrik is endorsed by EBS amps in Sweden, hence the massive wall of amps in most of their videos. People even started making comments about it on their videos like: How many amps does Henrik need ? All of them ! etc etc . He jokingly turned that around though in the "World on fire" video where he's using only one of the smaller EBS amps with a ton of different mics instead !🤣

Watch Work Shit Out. Jonah plays piano and keys simultaneously, Henrik shreds, and Aron will leave you on the floor with his solo. These guys are just so much fun, so GOOD, so musical, so talented! I'm 70, and I've never seen anything as good as these guys. They are my absolute favorite, I listen to them daily. And don't miss their credits, their sense of humor is hysterical. Aron & Henrik have been playing together since middle school. They were all at school together (the top music school in Sweden) but Jonah is a year younger, so didn't actually play with them much in school.

Dirty Loops is awesome. The producer of this song (and also mix engineer, and mastering engineer) is Simon Petrén. He's done most of Dirty Loops' projects. Simon Petrén lives in Seoul, South Korea, and he has composed, mixed, and produced a lot of Kpop and other Korean music in the last 7 years. He's worked on projects for several of the artists I'm going to show you, including... Sam Kim. In fact, you'll be seeing a Sam Kim song that Simon Petrén co-wrote and produced in two weeks. I'll be interested if you can pick out the connection.

Here's some I really love: Breakdown (super slinky, different kind of groove, vocal gymnastics and the fills by the bass and drums are sweet) Follow The Light (with Cory Wong, guitar player with his horn section) Work Shit Out (a foray into their jazz chops, has a great Berimbau part that opens the song and also comes back in strong later, and a killer drum solo) I could list more but, anything they do is fire, straight up fire. I saw them live in London yesterday, they said it was the first gig in London they had ever done. If they don't do another soon I'll go to another city to watch them again. The band was fabulous; they played this song and it was astonishing how close they get to the studio sound even when live in a converted cinema in Brixton. All three attended The Royal College of Music in Stockholm, where they met, so they are all classically trained, including Jonas as a singer. Henrik's bass is unreal (he was originally a pianist and will talk casually about the use of Dorian mode in his riffs) and Jonas voice is even better live, standing in front of you with these incredible runs. Henrik's ever growing bass stack is indeed a running joke with the band and fans, as Bassgroover suggested in a comment below. They used a pretty normal setup on stage, and had a forth player on some songs playing the horns parts on keyboards.

I hope you realize now you have to go this rabbit hole 😀 Or at least react to another Dirty Loops song very soon 😀 I love how each of them is a master musician - like fu..ing virtuoso - and they are teasing with their runs and fills, but keeping it in the pocket, grooving like crazy and still they are not just showing off, they're musical and the song is very approachable to everyone.

Great Reaction. You 'got it'. Dirty Loops is one of the easiest bands to react to. *Everything* is superb, and you owe it to your self to listen to *Everything.* Once you accept that, choosing the next song is simply choosing the order. 🤔 For *extra flavour,* react to Dirty loops featuring Cory Wong. Cory adds Prince/Nile Rogers quality rhythm guitar, _and_ brings a world class 5-piece horn section who 'kill it'. Their cover of "Thriller" is _delicious_ and "Follow the Light" _musical gastronomy._ 😋 Their other collaborations are instrumentals. Best Wishes. ☮ BTW - RU-vid brought me here. I'm a Dirty Loops fan, among several artists. You might enjoy _Jacob Collier - All Night Long (Official Video)_ this won him a Grammy. I got to Dirty Loops from Jacob. PS - You might enjoy veteran (1980s) Japanese Metal band _NINGEN ISU / Heartless Scat_ English lyrics are on subtitles.

🙌🙌🙌 heck yes!! Thank you for all the info and taking your time to do so! I can’t wait to hear some more from them and to also check out NINGEN!!

@@JohnReavesLive You're very welcome. Your reaction was fun and interesting enough to motivate me. 😀 Ningen Isu were influenced back in the '80s by Black Sabbath. The guitarist (they're a trio) plays a Gibson SG like Tony Iommi's. They also have a definite 'look'. They are not your 'standard' t-shirt and jeans band. Many of their YT videos either have English lyrics on Subtitles, or there are two versions one with on-screen English lyrics. Their songs are often based on literature, or mythical/religious themes. As well as _NINGEN ISU / Heartless Scat_ ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-CbI79e5iZKs.html _NINGEN ISU / The Colour out of Space (...)_ ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-1JY89ZxVqEg.html is lovely and 'doomy' 😱 Also popular 😆 To sound more 'pro', Ningen is pronounced with a hard 'g' as in 'go' (and not a 'j' sound like in tinge). This interview starts with a pronunciation of their name _[For Overseas fans] Interview about EU tour in English by Leo Imai /part.1_ ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-a3LmATbPFMo.html You look a bit young to get a kick out of kids 'killin' it' and enjoying playing music. However, if you might enjoy that sort of thing, maybe watch this young (13yo) Japanese female drummer performing a drum cover as a tribute to Jeff Beck _Jeff Beck - Led Boots / Drum Covered by YOYOKA_ ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-IrQpzUec004.html (Her closing 'patreon' music is something she co-wrote when she was about 8yo) Best Wishes. ☮

Hey John, that was one fire reaction! This track is seriously NUTS, and it showed in how you listened to it, I loved that ☺️ AI? Yes, they must be some kind of artificial or alien intelligence -these guys are just too much! Thanks again to CheeryBaby for getting us this reaction ;) And you’re right with the genres, Dirty Loops are the original genre bending trio. Not that it hasn’t been done before, but the Loops do it special. They once said that everything they’ve ever listened to comes into the mix, and this would be a lot :) Jonah grew up on classical music as a child, with both parents in choirs and taking him to rehearsals from the start of his life, more or less. He has been singing in choirs all of his younger life and also has got an aunt who is/was a singing coach. So I guess he would’ve had a few singing classes in his day…. And he’s been playing the piano/keys, first classical and later jazz piano. There is a Korg video of him explaining how he harmonies that last part of that song, and his thoughts behind it, and all I hear is Chopin, Rachmaninov and Jacob Collier :) And yeah, he’s got frickin beautiful blue eyes ☺️ Henrik? He’s a boss on the bass. There is no Dirty Loops song where he doesn’t shine, but if you want to hear him play exquisit bass solos, go to (wait this is going to be a long list ;) “World On Fire”, or “Follow The Light” or “Turbo”, or any of their earlier covers and songs, such as “Dirty”, “Circus”, “Roller Coaster” or “Just Dance”. Mindblowing stuff, all of it. Also don’t miss “Where’s The Beat” or “Sayonara Love”. But really, everything Henrik does anywhere is mindblowing. There are a lot of other collabs between him and others on YT, plus interviews. Check out the one with him on bassmagazine.com/Songified/Henrik Linder, where he talks about the making and the evolution of their songs from this LP, including ‘Next to You’. I thought it was super interesting… Aron, the drummer, is mindblowing too, and I totally agree with what you said about his style of playing. He also edits their videos and comes up with some of the lyrics, the songs, verses and choruses. And so much more. Him and Henrik used to stay behind at music college after close, just to jam together and practice pocket for hours. They’re the tightest team, those two. They first recorded their songs from this LP, then shot the videos. For this they had to re-learn all their riffs and runs and improvised sections. And they just like having fun and taking the Mickey out of people. Hence the walls of speakers :) and their often funny credits. Can’t wait for another Dirty Loops reaction from you! Like others are saying, “Work Shit Out” HAS to be next, it has the dopest drum solo! 🔥 Oh yeah and I’ve smashed that subscribe button ☺️

I know, there’s just too much good music out there, and too many comments asking for reactions ;) but I’m patiently waiting for more reactions to Dirty Loops 😌 And am pretty sure that their track “Hit Me” would completely blow anyone’s sox off!! 💥 It brings the funk, the jazz, the gospel, and at the end, finally, the riff of all riffs… 🔥🔥🔥
