DMX passed away in 2021 also DMX stands for Dark Man X. DMX is from Yonkers, New York & got his start by battle rapping 2 guys who ended up founding the label he was signed to "Ruff Ryders" became his managers & the rest is history.
Actually if you've read his book earl. DmX don't really stand for anything he got it off the side of a drum machine oberhym dmx drum machine.,when he started recording. He just liked the sound of it. fans made the dark man x
DMX is a story teller!!! I went to one of his last concerts when he was in Atlantic City beach. He’s cussing one minute then having church the next😂 Had grown men in tears
DMX actually was a great storyteller rapper. His subject matter mostly revolved around the streets, his spirituality, fighting his personal demons, and crime stories. He was a great rapper.
The DMX I grew up with was the whole '''Im about to lose my mind up in hea up on hea!" back in the late 90s and my personal fav X Gon' Give It To Ya!! Love that song.
2Pac was influenced by the streets, DMX was the streets. He was born in Baltimore, but grew up in Yonkers. He was known for robbing hustlers and drug dealers to survive while on the streets. Many rappers rap about what they saw, X rapped about what he lived.
I love me some Earl❤ I’m glad this was your first song by him. It shows all sides of him to me. DMX was beloved worldwide and when he passed, it affected a lot of people. We loved him, flaws and all. “Slipping” and “How We Be” are two other of my favorite songs by him.
I don’t think he has a bad song… your right he’s truly a true story teller. Can make you hype, somber, pray, and cry. Maybe start with his first hit Party Up/In here, Slippin, What they want from me… No Sunshine..” Honestly his albums are no skip records. Slipping tells his life story, be prepared.
X was multi talented. As real as they come. Definitely a storyteller. Wasn't afraid to speak of his demons and troubles but certainly grounded in faith.
Pac was more than a battle rapper. He was a prolific storyteller who rapped about a variety of topics. Black empowerment, female empowerment, love, hate...that's what made Pac among the greatest of all time. X was similar and while excellent, comparing him to Pac is unfair. X is X and Pac is Pac.
This is my favorite Dmx song. He’s in my top 5 favorite rappers of all time. He’s very similar to 2pac in the way that he made you feel his stories and passion. One of the all time greats.
The difference is most old head hip hop lovers listened to the ones who paved the way for those after them...the fact that DMX was one of the best to ever do and you never heard of him is crazy....saying he can rap is an understatement...if you gone critique hip hop and do reactions pay homage and do ya homework my boi....respectfully
DMX came out during an era in rap where Puff Daddy and Bad Boy were at the top of the charts and rap was amount cash, prestige, glitz and glamour. X came on the scene dirty, gritty, and hyper aggressive. He pretty much too hip hop music back to grunge of the street with an overwhelming presence in the industry during the late 90's early 2000s.
DMX is most known for the energy he brings to his raps, and not really for his wordplay or lyrics. He is not a bad lyricist by any means, but he is still a pretty simple lyricist. Thing is his delivery and energy make up for it and it makes him stand out.
@@punkem733 he is basic with rhymes like "ay yo the dog livin like a hog, in tha dark im a shark in the park". Take away the energy and delivery and he would objectively not be very good. Does he sometimes show a bit more than that? Of course, but he has never been much of complex rapper with bars that make you jump out of your seat. His energy was his main draw.
I don’t know if you have already, but dig into DMX catalog the man was phenomenal, absolutely different from 2Pac, but phenomenal at the most. DMX was a great storyteller there will never be another MC like him.
LMFAOOOOOOO bro had me crying laughing at the "I Thought He Just Barks" lmfaooooo that shit is silly. But seriously he was a legend in hip-hop youngin. Do your research
DmX was a religious rapper. He aways said prayers like real deep church prayers at his shows...IMO HE IS TOP 3 RAPPERS OF ALL TIME....biggie, DMx, 2pac.
X was a very spiritual person and felt he had a calling, but was far from a religious rapper. He felt one day he may be a minister, but felt he needed to deal with hid demons before labled himself as such.
X ENTIRE 1st album is INSANE 🔥!! He 1000% was a storyteller, a BRILLIANT storyteller!! "Its Dark and Hell is Hot" is a whole album checkin out real talk. His "radio hits" are.dope n all but the REAL X is told through his album tracks 🐾🙅🏽♀️❤
One of the most underrated storytellers in hip hop history. Listen to his debut It’s Dark and Hell is Hot. It’s FULL of stories! And since storytelling interests you, listen to Sticky Fingaz (from ONYX) solo debut album called Black Trash: The Diary of Kirk Jones. It’s LITERALLY one long story from beginning to end. Dope concept, dope features, everything! You’ll LOVE it! I promise you
He's got a few more hits that are way bigger like x gon give to ya, party up, where the hood at and ruff ryders anthem. he's also been in a couple of cool movies like exit wounds and cradle 2 the grave
2 Pac n DMX were 2 legendary intelligent artists that deserve some respect. U speak down on them like u some type of general or something. Doesn’t seem right at all youngin
young Buck, i have enjoyed your videos so far, but, if challenge you and would love to see your reaction to Freebird, by Lynard Skynard, live at Oakland Coliseum, 1977. its an experience ypu wont forget
Dmx is known for realistic raps when he rapped he hits your soul. Its not about lyricism Tupac had the same effect. Tupac replacement is disrespectful he even dissed him. He hated that comparison cause we knew Tupac in nyc and he was a 🩰 facts Btw NYC made up rap my friend. Puerto Ricans and blacks mixed made it after the break dancing scene
5 straight no1 albums …He was huge in the late 90s-early 2000s Check out “Slipping” DMX was a Genuis ..Great storyteller RIP Earl Simmons 🕊️🕊️ (I don’t get why u keep tryna compare him to 2Pac…(To me they are totally diffferent Love DMX❤❤
