Boca means "mouth" in Spanish and Portuguese and is part 2 of the Dystopia trilogy, which deals with bullying and hate comments, in particular the online variant ("A trick behind a mask, a ridiculous freak" from Scream). Boca has the lines "Why do you fill your precious time with hate" and "Too many angels dying now", which points to the effects those comments can have. Several Kpop idols have committed suicide in recent years, most likely because of cyber-bullying, but this is also about all the unnamed people who suffer from online bullies. A girlgroup tackling such a subject impresses the hell out of me. They literally go to war in this video and tell haters to go and shut their "Boca" in the lyrics. And the song is absolutely awesome! Who said you can't have three different musical genres in one song?

Yes, we knew you would come back. It's a common trend that people who look into Dreamcatcher often do come back. In Dreamcatcher's title tracks, there is always a rock sound. It's what they are know for. It's even gotten to the point where if a kpop group has a rock-like sound, people would say "oh this sounds like Dreamcatcher!" As for the whole staring into your soul... no all of us feel it too, it's not just you. These girls have powerful gazes and are absolutely gorgeously! 😍 Dami's "Hold Up! I'm a geek, the big paradox!" Very iconic. As for their MVs, breath taking! As someone from America, we don't get a lot of exposure to things outside the country either. I got into kpop threw gaming. Showing your appreciation, even if you are repeating the same thing, won't be boring to me. I think all of us Insomnia appreciation the love for these girls!😁 Yes, the next song is Odd Eye. The final of the trilogy. The next one also has the return of their 7th member so you will get to see and hear Handong for the first time! We shall see you again soon!

Dami's raps are the best in the kpop industry in my opinion. Dreamcatcher are unique for their inspiration on rock and metal. Japan has Babymetal, Korea has Dreamcatcher.

After the trilogy, you should react to Deja Vu and Endless Night. What's more insane about this group is that they are not popular in their home country because rock/metal is a niche genre in South Korea. They haven't won any single music show win since their debut but they are pretty popular internationally.

The O in Boca is a long vowel sound. Bow, as in archery, mow as in mowing the lawn. Not too long ago I was in the same boat as you are now, mostly un-aware of music outside my own little bubble. Completely un-aware of the SHEER QUALITY of musical talent and skill, overall sounds and the force of nature that is K-Pop. And THEN there is DreamCatcher, a Korean group who breaks ALL the molds and fits into NOBODY's box. The very best thing about them is that they are NICE PEOPLE. If ANYBODY DESERVES to be successful in their careers, and I mean for the RIGHT reasons, it's these seven awesome, sweet, gorgeous, wackos.

Well, Dreamcatcher are unique even for K-Pop. They're their own genre. A K-Pop-Rock group, with Metal and Hip Hop elements, that has a big international following outside Korea. Boca is a Moombathon-NuMetal (aka Young Metal) hybrid, that talks about online bulling and denounces the bullies and the liars and tells them to shut their Boca. There is a big social problem in Korea, with celebrities being constantly targeted, attacked and cancelled online, leading many to pass. At the time of Boca, there were three Idols, two were friends from the same K-Pop girl group, f(x). Recently, they were two more: a volleyball player and a RU-vidr. The line "too many angels dying now, I'm gonna change your mind, until you can breath again" refers to that. Dreamcatcher vow to protect the victims. Boca is the Speak No Evil part of the Trilogy, Scream is the Hear No Evil (online witch hunts, fake gossip that ruins people) and Odd Eye is, well, the See No Evil part (Fake news, beautiful lies covered in sweetness, lose oneself in the online world). Welcome to the Dreamworld.

this entire video is just Dreamcatcher causing you panic upon shock upon disbelief upon enjoyment upon even more shock, it was lowkey a rollercoaster of emotions and i absolutely loved it🤣🤣 K-pop seriously has so many genres and so many styles to fit every person, in my opinion - people just need to be more open minded! just, take the risk and listen to it instead of just saying "eh. it's in a different language." or "it's just not my type of music" or "i don't like it!" without even giving it a go! see, you took the risk! listened to the recommendations and went in to this super open minded, and look where you are now! - a pit. an unescapable rabbit hole. you're loving it! and i'm loving watching you loving it! it's fun seeing somebody, who, just a few weeks ago, knew nothing about K-pop, never mind- didn't even know the genre existed, being so invested in it and after just a few listens of a few groups not to mention! Dreamcatcher are a South Korean girl group from the Dreamcatcher Company (formerly Happyface Company before they changed to support the group) the group consists of seven members JiU, SuA, Siyeon, Handong, Yoohyeon, Dami and Gahyeon. Dreamcatcher debuted on January 13th 2017 with their single album 'Nightmare'. Dreamcatcher was originally actually formed under the name MINX and consisted of JiU, SuA, Siyeon, Yoohyeon, and Dami but then re-debut in 2017 as Dreamcatcher and with the addition of two new members Handong and Gahyeon. Each member actually represents a nightmare or fear: JiU - Fear of being chased. SuA - Fear of being restrained. Siyeon - Claustrophobia. Handong - Scopophobia. Yoohyeon - Mazeophobia. Dami - Oulinophobia/Agliophobia. Gahyeon - Basophobia.

Watching reactors fall into Dami's rap is just... *chef's kiss*. Happy to see you doing DC again! I'll look forward to Odd Eye (And you finally meeting handong!), and I hope you start at the start after that: Chase Me --> Good Night --> Fly High, etc. All part of the Nightmare storyline ;-) The Look is a kpop thing, for sure. I swear they all get training for it. But DC, because they have a harder concept, are 'allowed' to really murder you with it. It's awesome! With DC title tracks, you always get the heavy drums and guitars. Their b-sides are often completely different, ranging from ballads to jazz to synth pop to EDM, but they are all amazing. And then they've done live performances of most of their rock songs CHANGED TO jazz and ballads XD Got to love these girls. Their composers are amazing.

2:25 I'm not sure what channel you were watching the video on (kpop MVs are many times uploaded to two channels - the groups channel and a distributor channel), but on the Dreamcatcher official channel, there are definitely english captions. My suggestion would be that, if you find a kpop MV without captions, take a second to search for the other upload of the MV on youtube. That way you will have caption. With dreamcatcher the MVs on their official channel usually have english subtitles!

i feel so happy that you’re giving these girls a chance. dreamcatcher is my favorite girl group ever. they are also immensely under-appreciated. they’re not really popular in their home country, especially because of their sound (since they are heavily influenced by rock), but they have a lot of international fans which is great! they are super talented, each one of them. after this trilogy i’d recommend for you to check out ‘Deja Vu’ and ‘Endless Night’. thank you again! i love your reactions and can’t wait to watch more dreamcatcher and bts ones!

DREAMCATCHER is famous for their mix of pop and rock. There aren't many famous group in this area in Korea. They are also really complete in all aspects (Vocals, rap and dance).

dreamcatcher \:D/ nearly all dreamcatcher videos should have english captions - most of their fans are actually international. if you don't see captions double check if you got the right video/channel. the dystopia trilogy is really rock light. the three songs are basically pop songs with some 'guitars'. a lot of their other songs are much more rock influence, bordering on metal but with their twist.

For me it all started with Netflix, and a little recommendation from it. The series it recommended was Hotel del Luna. I fell down the korean rabbit hole. Later on I found Dreamcatcher (kpop is not my thing overall), and as people say, the rest history. I'm in love with this group, and everything they do in music and outside music. Even I like their CEO! :-D Our love is nearly year and a half old. And we're happy. ^^

Thanks for the Dreamcatcher love! Always appreciated! "What are you doing to me?" We all had to suffer through how amazing the talent in K-pop is, thus shall you. 😂 You've definitely found the correct group for rock. All of Dreamcatcher's title tracks contain rock in some manner and they have a nice chunk of B-sides that are rock. However, they are much more than that too. Their B-sides don't have their dark rock concept requirement so their genre coverage is pretty great in their B-sides. Also, you better get used to crazy-ass beat changes. It's obviously different from group-to-group and genre-to-genre, but random beat switches is sort of staple of K-pop. Somehow, the music producers make it work though. Always confuses me how they can do that. "Odd Eye" is a good one. It's just as different from "Boca" as "Boca" was from "Scream". Also, there _should_ be captions for this song. RU-vid has been weird lately. Songs will have subtitles, but the CC button will be greyed out for some reason. I can still click on it and the subtitles appear, but yeah. Seems like a bug of some sort. Thanks for the reactions! Glad you are enjoying Dreamcatcher and the rest of your K-pop journey. It's amazing.

Omg, finally the Boca reaction!! 😍 Next you should definitely check out "Chase me" their debut song, "Good Night", "Fly High", "Piri", "Deja Vu", "Odd Eye" and "BEcause". What you should hear too would be "Sahara" "Break the Wall" "Poison Love" The members practically filmed these MVs themselves and you can see their crazy side xD There are also several good covers. Once "Theres nothing holding me back" with everyone, "Mood" by Dami and Yoohyeon and "Speechless" by Siyeon (one of my biases^^) Which might be interesting if you watch MINX xD that was Dreamcatcher, before Dreamcatcher. MINX consisted of the 5 members JiU, SuA, Siyeon, Yoohyeon and Dami. MINX is the complete opposite of Dreamcatcher, it might be a little funny xD but their music wasn't exactly bad, but no comparison to Dreamcatcher love your reactions! But then they have their solo stuff and their sub-unit stuff... Just really All-Arounders as far as genres. My musical tastes are pretty eclectic so I LOVE it! :)

I love your energy in your videos mate, it's just next level. Also I could see the hysteria from your reaction. Dreamcatcher are criminally underrated. Five years of amazing rock /metal, edm, synth pop all fused into one with top notch vocals, visuals, and dancing, that too, on a fraction of the budget the big companies have. Despite of all this, they still don't have a single win.

Yes, Dreamcatcher is amazing. The good thing is that each day they get more and more fans out there. Internationally it seems to go pretty good and it's about time. I would have liked to go to Spain (Primavera Sound) for their live performance in June 2022 but the tickets for the festival are all sold out. I've also been under a rock for some time but I always listened to less mainstream stuff (in general more Rock oriented stuff but not limited to that). As you already pointed out in your last reaction...everyone should have an open mind and check stuff out because you'll find great things out there. I can't agree more. My journey started when I stumbled over K/DA with POP/STARS which let me enter the K-POP stuff. From there of course it drew me to (G)I-DLE because of Soyeon (she's a genius!) and Miyeon being part of K/DA but I also like Yuqi's deep voice (incredible solo song covers). As Soyeon also shows up in other songs I was caught by "Wow Thing" and I added Chung Ha to my list of artists. Then Blackpink and a few others until I saw a comment under a video that pointed me to Dreamcatcher and I was totally hooked. Last year I added Rolling Quartz because of their incredible Måneskin cover of "Zitti E Buoni" which was the first song I saw from them (they also have a connection to Dreamcatcher) and then AleXa was added as well (basically because of the meeting "FO Squad Kpop" had with her). I was surprised by the collab between Alexa and Rolling Quartz for the song "Xtra". I was actually awaiting something with Dreamcatcher as it would be a perfect match and I also I did know there are some connections in the background (but I didn't know how deep it actually was until 2 weeks ago)...well there is still not yet a collab with Dreamcatcher and Rolling Quartz but they just released a Dreamcatcher song on their latest comeback...and it's fire (ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-6ZMwFjO2yvY.html)! In the comments under the video you'll see some details about their connection with DC but that's not the complete picture. 🙂 I also checked out Babymetal...how could have missed this for 10 years? WOW... Suzuka Nakamoto's (aka Su-metal) voice is incredible. I don't like all of the songs because most of it is to heavy for me but I like for example "Karate", "The One", "Gimme chocolate" (also sung by Dreamcatcher at some point while in the car...maybe they were begging for some chocolate... LOL). As far as "Crowd control" goes I've never ever seen something like what the girls from Babymetal could pull off. If you look at a few concerts you'll notice what I mean. Part of all k-pop Idol training is very comprehensive that includes singing, rapping, dancing, video performance, language training and they give most of their free time to their jobs which is why they're usually so in sync as a group. That's why there is such a focus on direct eye contact, it's part of their training. It's a basic human emotion and so when we look into people's eyes we have more of a connection to them. That's why you get biases in these K-Pop groups. People feel like they're looking directly at them, which makes us instantly drawn and captivated by them. In Western Culture, we don't have the same connection to eye contact, it actually makes us uncomfortable when we have too much direct eye contact and our music videos show that. Most artists don't look directly at the camera, they are directed to look off-camera unless it's an emotional song and you're capturing a performance and you need to see the eyes. Another thing that most K-Pop labels do that Western Music does not do is release a dance practice to every single. All groups will have a dance practice that the group will perform from start to finish in one take. Requires a lot of work and shows you the dedication they put into learning the choreography. Most trainees can be in training for years starting as early as 15 or 16 and only very few make it through the training process to be included in a group. It's actually probably a quite strict process looking at it through Western eyes but it's more rooted in Korean culture and their need to be good at something. As well the fact that they are Idols and every move they make is highly monitored and scrutinized and missteps can cause cyberbullying. Many Idols will or have taken leave for mental health purposes or when a scandal has affected them.

Dreamcatcher's earlier songs (such as Chase Me, Good Night, You and I, What, i.e. the "Nightmare Series") tend to have a heavier rock influence, even moreso than Scream, Boca, and Odd Eye. But if you go deeper into their discography, you'll find that they're incredibly versatile, with songs that cross over into everything from jazz to EDM. Definitely one of the most unique and talented Kpop groups that are active right now.

If you feel like listening to more foreign music, you should try to listen to Stromae, he's a Belgian artist and is a litteral legend in Europe. His most popular song is Papaoutai, though you really should turn on the captions because he stands out because of his lyrics and lyrical genius.

Kpop is far for being a foreign genre/industry these recent years (mostly because these days kpop artists are doing songs in english and most kpop songs are in english mixed with korean). It has become the top 3 most listened, influential and with most fans in america and most of the world, only Pop and hip hop are the ones that are above kpop in popularity.

Dreamcatcher is my favorite girl group of all time. And my favorite group overall is BTS. These girls are talented as hell. Everyone of them can be a main vocalist. Plus they are VERY versatile. My playlist is full o f their b-sides.

She was back home in China for a year (originally filming a TV series, then stranded due to lockdowns and travel restrictions), so she was unable to take part in Scream and Boca. The story so far: The girls take the role of goddesses (which, I know, _not_ a hard sell), Earth spirits if you like, who see that the Tree of Language has started bearing black fruit, due to us stupid mortals broadcasting our hateful words across the globe at an ever-increasing rate. We're hurting each other, and as a result, we're hurting _them,_ too. They beg us to stop... but it's for naught, we can barely hear them over the sounds of our own virtual voices. Eventually, the pain becomes too much to bear, and they snap in the last chorus. They're done begging... now they're gonna make _us_ scream (as you spotted in the Scream MV). So in Boca, they're not playing nice anymore. Apparently appealing to our better natures didn't do any good, so now they're going all Wonder Woman on us. Dami refers to herself as "the killer who protects you"; they're powerful, they _can_ do harm... but they do so in the service of those who can't protect themselves. IF they do make a comeback next month, I hope it’s another full album. I will absolutely not miss another full, no matter what. Tree of Language is too damn good. If it is, that’ll be the 2nd physical album I’ve bought since after CDs were a thing. Got the one with BOCA (Lose Myself) on it, the special edition is worth it for the nice box alone, but all the rest is well done and worth having. Think my last album was... hmm one of Chuck Schuldiner’s (from Death, and Control Denied) last releases. Oh and if you haven’t heard Band Maid yet, they’re phenomenal musicians but keep things melodic, in a Hard Rock to Metal style. Jinjer too, is top tier. If you want jaw-on-floor vocal exhibition that shows what a human voice is capable of: Dimash Kudaibergen is a good choice too.

well, if you live in UK you have a great chance. On 14th/15th of May in Frankfurt/Germany is a great K-Pop-Festival. For the second day maybe you can get tickets, the 14th of may is sold out. The line-up for the 15th is: MonstaX - great 3rd Gen. Boy group AB6IX - 4th Gen. Boy group IVE - 4th Gen. Girl group, very new from end of 2021 but with 2 famous members from the legendary Produce group IZ*ONE (G)-Idle - early 4th Gen Girl group ONEUS - early 4th Gen Boy group MAMAMOO - legendary 3rd. Gen Girl group, imho best vocal girl group of this generation Dreamcatcher - of course you know them now. that´s are all groups from smaller but famous Labels.
