Don Henley was the drummer. He sang lead on a lot of the songs. Glen Frey who was playing the acoustic guitar sang lead on most of the other songs. Henley and Frey wrote most of the songs.

Eagles is an incredibly talented band. They have been around for a long time!! You guys should also check out Fleetwood Mac. Any of their songs would be good but I recommend Landslide. Stevie Nicks is amazing!!

There has been a trend to remove something from music for the past 20+ years, that's so common now, that you don't even realize it's there. Volume control. Since the 2000's record companies have entirely removed the tonal and volume variations in music recordings. Every instrument is cranked up to a predetermined value and left there for the duration of the song. Each of the 2 lead guitarists were able to switch off adding flourishes above and underneath the music the other was playing. The drummer was able to play gently and and quiet it down for the middle transition he was singing over. None of this is possible any longer with the way music is now recorded and performed. Then when they shredded the song apart in the solo, the guitarists once again changed the volume of their playing to give it that extra strength. You don't think of that when you just casually listen, but take a song like Farrel Williams "Happy" and listen to it side by side with this, and only pay attention to the volume levels.

That rendition was from when they were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. You'll enjoy just about EVERY song they produced... You should also check out the the artists as solo acts. Especially Joe Walsh... You love his song "Life's Been Good"...

I would say that Don Henley (the drummer) is just one of five singers, as they do switch up lead vocals on different songs. Check out “Take It To The Limit” with Randy Meisner on lead vocals or “Take It Easy” with Glen Fry taking the lead. Every member of the band has an excellent voice which produces those fabulous harmonies. ✌🏼😎

Back when Phil Collins played with Genesis he was the lead singer and the drummer as well. That has been the case for a couple of bands in the past. If you get a chance you should check out some old Genesis. I was also always amazed when drummers were able to both play their instrument and sing as well. I would think that would be incredibly hard to do, but as we can see from this video, there are some seriously talented musicians who can pull that off and make it look effortless. Good reaction, looking forward to the next one.

Ah, depending on the site you check, the album this came of, of the same name, varies between the 3rd and 7th best selling album, ever! The 'Best of the Eagles' is placed even higher, with at least one placing it at #1, ahead of MJ's "Thriller". However, I expect most of those sales - and radio plays - were before your time and, when you consider what one's exposure to music has been growing up*, it isn't that surprising you don't know of them, or this song. *There is a LOT of really, really good music 90+% of us have never heard of - I'm old and still hearing new stuff from the time of my youth.
