You can't go wrong with any of the songs on Elton John's Greatest Hits album. I especially love "Goodbye, Yellow Brick Road" and "Don't Let the Sun Go Down on Me," but the rest are great, too. This man has topped the charts for decades! The studio recordings have better sound, but the live performances give you the whole Elton John experience!

Elton John ruled the 70s. I have seen him live something like 12-15 times. He's legendary. Knighted by the Queen of England for his contributions as an English musician so he is technically "Sir Elton." As a composer and pianist, you'd be hard pressed to find someone who can compare in the rock/pop genre except Billy Joel, who he actually toured with in the 90s. Got to see that too! If you know Circle of Life from the Lion King, you know Elton John. I highly recommend taking 11 minutes of your day to react to Funeral for a Friend/Love Lies Bleeding. Use the audio version as the production is excellent. It's a masterpiece. He's got quite a few of those.

You are only scratching the surface--not just of Elton John, who had a shit-load of great songs, but of the music made between 1967 and 1984. Music was important back then in a way it just isn't now.
@oldkingcol3
@oldkingcol3 4 года назад
Truth the late 70's and early 80's put out some fantastic music. This coming from the guy born in '84. Then again I grew up listening to oldies with my mom. I got a lot of Motown from my mom and classic country from my dad. So my musical taste is very wide ranging. Now I am mostly partial to Rock, Pop Punk, and whatever you want to call twenty one pilots.

Elton John has an absolute gold mine of great songs. Try the start of the album "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road" where "Funeral for a Friend" goes straight into "Love Lies Bleeding" which is as good a beginning to any album you are likely to listen to. For something a bit more rocky try "Saturday Night's Allright for Fighting".

One of my favorite artists. Been listening to him since my high school years in the 70s. He has a huge library of hits. You would probably be familiar with some of his songs he did for the Disney movie, The Lion King ( ie. "Circle of Life", "I Just Can't Wait to Be King", "Be Prepared", "Hakuna Matata", and "Can You Feel the Love Tonight").

Elton has a near unlimited amount of hits, and was the best selling artist of the 70’s, and is one of the best selling artists of all time. He is regarded as one of the best (if not the best) rock/pop piano players of all time. He is also known for his flamboyant outfits (and btw, the outfit in this video is quite toned down from his many other outfits). He also has a movie that came out about a year ago called “Rocketman”, which I recommend watching. He is 73 and is touring on his farewell tour, although not currently due to COVID-19. He is one of the best musical artists of all time. Great reaction as well 👍

I've seen Elton 6 times in concert, including my first concert when I was 13. He has a ton of hits, many that you've probably heard at some point. "Your Song" is my favorite, but I would say "Don't let the Sun go down on me" for sure. "Saturday Night's Alright For Fighting" might be a good one too. My husband and I saw him about 6 or 7 years ago at the University of Tennessee and I swear, this cat was 67 years old and he performed like he was in his twenties. So much energy and passion and he never took a break, not once except to take a drink of water every now and then. If life evee gets back to actual normal and you get a chance to see him, do it. I'm telling you, you will have such a great time.
