We love Em because he let us all the way in and has been real about it, the good and bad. For those of us who grew with Em, his music has gotten us through it all.

I know what to expect with this song and still shed a tear every time. His ability to make you visualize his lyrics is second to none.

So Eminem only has one biological daughter which is Hailey. He adopted Laney who was Kim’s twin sisters daughter. Her bio parents were drug addicts. They had her from baby. In mockingbird she is the dark haired girl. So when him and Kim divorced for the first time, she got pregnant but the guys she was seeing. He was also a drug addict. Eminem adopted that baby girls. So when he says girls that is who talking about. He also got his baby brother Nate out of the system because he was taken out of his mother’s house because of her munchausen by proxy. He raised him from about 12 years old

Some more info/context for this song: As others have said he did OD and nearly died, having relapsed into drug abuse over Proof's death who was his best friend since childhood. The reason why he says he can't get that image out of his head, of Proof across the table and him not being able to save him is because 2 years before Proof died, he was in an Em video where they were representing the violence happening between rappers and Proof in the video got shot and is bleeding on a table while Em can't do anything to save him. It's the video for Like Toy Soldiers so if you react to you'll see it. He then died in real life in very similar circumstances (got shot) so that haunted Em because it was almost like they predicted it. His overdose happened in December and Hailie's birthday is on Christmas Day, which is why he talks about missing her birthday and tells them to go ahead and open the gifts because he doesn't think he will make it home for Christmas.

The line where Eminem said I had to walk down my halls and constantly be reminded By pictures, all on my walls and I couldn't sleep at night 'cause That image burned in my brain of you on that table Me falling across your body, not able to stand to save you hit me so hard 😢 because that line makes me think of my late grandfather who sadly died in 2015

Knew this was going to be rough to react to. He poured his heart and soul out in these songs. Great story telling too. Would love to see your reactions to "cleaning out my closet" its a bit about him and his moms relationship growing up. Came out in 2002. Then you should listen to "headlights" its where he basically forgives his mom. It came out in 2013. Shows how far hes come in his mental health, and how much he's grown up. Very deep songs.

Once again a great reaction! I break down every time I hear this song (and Mockingbird) also. His music will make you laugh, cry, scream, and think about things. He is one of the best storytellers in the game for sure.

He actually had to go through all that he said in this song and Castle. He overdosed in 2007 because was going through a lot especially after Proof died (shot and killed) which was his best friend since he was little. He was so close to being dead but somehow he survived. The original verse in Castle was what actually happened and that last verse in Arose is what he thinks he should’ve done so he rewinded the tape to correct his mistakes by flushing down the pills that got him overdosed. Last sentence in Castle was “shit I don’t know” and in Arose he changed it to “now I know”

I feel like we need to get you to listen to some of his super uplifting songs after the brutal songs you jumped right into. Something like Sing for the Moment or Till I Collapse

Thank you for this. I still tear up every time I hear this song thinking about all the people I’ve lost. There is something so powerful seeing other people have similar reactions. It shows that people understand how you feel. We are all in this together.

For some context eminem nearly died of kidney failure caused by an overdose in 2007. They said if he areived at the hospital 20 minutes later, it would've been too late. That was when he decided to get clean, and you heard him flush the drugs down the toilet. I recomend doing not afraid next. And on a persistent note im glad yourself enjoying yourself

what i like about Em is he makes ya feel.....kids dont understand the things their parents are going through, and what it takes to survive....but glad his kids got to see him live after his overdose....he is all they have, he is their world, and it would of been so heartbroken if they, and even us loss him...i relate to a lot of his personal songs,....he loss his best friend...wow...this song is great

This song is definitely hard to get through. I was crying right along with you. Was thinking about my dad who had a severe overdose in 2017 and seeing you cry got to me. Keep the reactions coming. Another song you should eventually listen to is In Your Head.

Em has been there for me since I was around 10 years old. Im 34 now (as of today...). When he says "and Proof I'm truly sorry if I let you down but this tore me in two. The thought of no more me and you".. Nothing in 24 years resonated with me more. 3 years ago I lost my ride or die. The best man at my wedding. The first friend I made when I moved to Texas. I'm the godfather of his son who he left behind. You cannot describe the pain of what its like when your ride or die.. dies. "The thought of no more me and you". Getting through the last 20 years.. i always had him. Now i know i have ~40+ (hopefully) more left.. but not one of those is going to have him in it. If Em can do it.. So can I. I'm happy you're giving his music a listen and understanding why he is as impactful as he is. Now.. wait until you hear his uplifting stuff. Or his technical stuff. Or his funny stuff. Or his fast stuff. haha. The mans got SO many levels to him. We're going to have teach you about "bars"! looking forward to it! "bar" example from this song (there's plenty but this one is easy) : "I yell but nothing comes out. I'm crying inside. I shout! My vocal chords won't permit me, I scream but its not aloud." (aloud, allowed) It's not allowed because his vocal chords aren't permitting it. But its not aloud because nothing comes out. That's what people mean when they talk about "bars". Double entendres, (with em.. sometimes triple or quadruple entendres), punchlines, clever comparisons, stuff like that.

Such a amazing guy to put his life out into the world like he does to help and inspire people who aint got a thing. Another crazy good song is Darkness. Very sad but shows alot as a artist. I really love your Eminem reactions! You listen from an emotional point of view and that is unique from the many reactors on RU-vid that are only concerned with breaking down bars. Many of us are fans of Em because his music makes us feel deeply and not many rappers have the ability to do that. I also appreciate that you can relate to many of his lyrics. I guess it is also sad in a way because much of his personal content is dark and many of us have had to go through some horrible situations to be able to relate to the things Eminem talks about. The beauty, though, is that by relating and knowing that someone like Eminem went through it and came out the other side stronger, It makes us stronger also. I just realized that you're absolutely right. On castle, he's saying he's done with the music and life and took too many pills and OD'd. On Arose, he's rewinding the time to say that he's done with the drugs. Wow, the song gets even more impactful now. Thank you so much.

it's loosely based on his overdose in Dec 2007. his daugther's birthday is on Christmas. my interpretation is he's re-telling the story in a way like it's a movie. where he somehow rewind the past so that he can fix a mistake. and he's rapping about what could have happened if he didnt muster up the strength to overcome his drug problem

The only reason the public found out about this was because of this song. There were always rumors and i think two cases at this time but nothing like this, when he collapsed it was reported as him having the flu though

This is the second time he could of died. ems mom says in the doco i sent you that when he got badly beaten up at school he was in a coma for a week. he had to learn to walk and talk again.
