Hall & Oates are one of the best pop rock duo groups in the 70's-80's. They had a lot of great hits such as "Rich Girl", "Kiss On My List", "Private Eyes", "Maneater", "I Can't Go For That (No Can Do)", "Out Of Touch", "She's Gone", "You Make My Dreams", "Family Man", "Say It Isn't So", "Method Of Modern Love" etc.
Managing to stay relevant to record sales and charts for 20 consecutive years (not counting compilation albums) as a group is pretty amazing. I preferred their pre MTV albums over the MTV few and have quite enjoyed Daryl's house (relevant 50yrs after they started).

Daryl Hall, of Hall & Oates, later did a show called "Daryl's House", where a different performer was invited to collaborate with him in his home studio. The episode with Cee-lo Greene and their performance of an old Hall & Oates song, "I Can't Go for That", is one of the best collaborations you will ever experience. I know and I was not a big CeeLo Green fan other than a few songs but right now Daryl Hall is 77 and he still rocks and him and Cee Lo Green together and the band was a whole vibe I can't tell you how many times I've watched it❤❤❤❤❤

In the 90's Darryl Hall had a show called Darryl's House. He had Cee Lo Green on doing a cover of Hall and Oats "I Can't Go For That" You'll love that !!!!
My very first concert (and not the only time i saw them). That Philly soul sound they have had me the first time I heard them and never let me go. Great songwriters and musicians. I've always had a soft spot for saxophone and their songs never disappoint.

Sara Allen, Hall and Oates wrote Maneater, the signature song for Hall and Oates. Hall and Oates is the duo with the most Number 1 songs. The 2 traveled to Australia 🇦🇺, separately. Hall sang with a young band named INXS. A few years later, John Oates performed a sing with Icehouse. I grew up in the 70’s & 80’s & Hall & Oats dominated the charts & this is my favourite song of theirs. Saw them in concert 10 years ago & they were still awesome. I never get tired o their music. Thanks for sharing.

They're still great in concert, by the way. Check out "Method Of Modern Love," and "Adult Education." You couldn't go anywhere in the late 70s or 80s without hearing Hall & Oates. Oates wrote an autobiography which is quite good if you want to read up more on the group.

They were cooler in the 70's than 80's. No kid in high school would see them or think of them. However, saying that, extremely talented band with many hits, and a career that many would kill for. Well deserving of all their accolades. Side note" Watch the film comedy SHES OUT OF MY LEAGUE - the guy has a HALL and OATS cover band.

The make up was the older groups of the 70s being told to juice up their image coming into the 80s to compete with NuWave, ie Boy George. You also see the image update on Heart and Stevie Nick's also. Trying to stay relevant.
You must check out Daryl’s House, especially the episodes with CeeLo Green, The O’Jays and Smokey Robinson. The performance of the O’Jays’ I Love Music was spectacular.

I will apologize for the language but sometimes the Grammys are fucked up because Hall & Oates with all their hits have never won a Grammy😢😢😢😢 what the fuck😢😢 just like my main man Anthony Hamilton came out 20 years ago as a new artist with the hit Charlene which is Still rocking to this day and do you know what the only Grammy he ever won was a duet with Al Green and he's been nominated 17 damn times I honestly think the Grammys have their favorites and don't focus on the actual music😢😢😢😢😢
They instantly regretted that album cover. In the mid 70s, androgyny and gender bending were all the rage--led by the Glam rock movement that David Bowie came out of. Their managers were trying to ride that wave, which was already fading, which was ridiculous because Hall and Oates were basically a straight pop/R&B group. Probably because of this album cover, there was a widespread rumor in the 80s that they were gay lovers.
They don't wear makeup. That was just VERY stupid cover art that didn't go with them. They are considered "Blue-Eyed Soul." - (even though John Oates - with the deeper voice, has dark hair & eyes. Basically "white/non-black" soul.) - which was more this & other of their 70s music. (It changed in the 80s as 80s music had changed.) While all/almost all of their songs are good - the one that ties for 1st place with this one in my opinion is "She's Gone."
