They are the best in my opinion. No one can match their harmonies!!! I will put them against any group. Their harmonies will always be the best. Thank you for sharing your experience with us. You should try. 1. Mayday 2. Brothers in arms. 3. Ring of fire 🔥. I think you will love them.
It's a reaction, pause as much as you want. Also, do yourself a favor and listen with headphones or earbuds, a cappella is just so much better with it.
I 100% agree. If you were surprised and impressed by these white boys' soul on Man of Constant Sorrow, you're gonna lose your s*** when you hear even the first three notes (you won't even have to wait a minute or so, as you mentioned with this number, lol) of Austin doing Percy Sledge proud (in a way covers of this song have rarely, if ever, done before, imho) on this one (and please, commenters, don't even think about hassling me about what I just said; I'm white, and there's some aspects of Black music and culture that are often copied but, imho, rarely really gotten or expressed by people from other cultures who lack the Black experience/history/roots that generated that music and expression). I am really hoping you do react to it...and I'm also you first listen to at least 3 of their other numbers, so you get at least a bit of a feeling for their range, versatility and ability to do all kinds of songs, from the most heart-wrenching (Brothers in Arms, for example) to the most light-hearted and funny (e.g., Butts Remix). Last, I hope that after you've gotten enough of a feel for all this, you innocently walk into Rob and Austin doing Nessun D'orma (or however it's spelled)-- an opera aria (yeah, you heard that right, opera!) in which Rob has trained and, I guess, shared some of the basics with Austin, aka He of the Gorgeous High Tenor.
@@Alice-xy3fiRob was professionally trained in opera, but Austin said he’s also done some sort of training in opera (I can’t remember exactly what he called it.), as well. Their version of Nessun Dorma was fantastic! Blew my mind! Our #HomeFreeGuys & #SweetAndLow are simply amazingly talented, and good at heart, too. Go down the rabbit hole for both-you won’t regret it! #HomeFryForLife ❤❤❤
I totally agree. When a man loves a woman, showcases Austin's range. Also, I strongly recommend "My Church." Which showcases Tim's range. Great reaction, welcome to the HomeFree wormhole.
Most of us don't mind the pausing. I actually enjoy it when a reactor has something they want to say - go for it. I would highly recommend that you wear headphones or at least earbuds. You'll be shocked at how much you are missing when you finally wear them - especially with a cappella. A couple of suggestions I think you'll appreciate since you liked this one are "When A Man Loves A Woman" and "Take Me Home Country Roads". They're all good though - Great reaction - thanks! 🍟
For me it depends on how much pausing, and whether it's for a good reason. Some reactors will watch twice -- once the first time all the way through, and then again to analyze or comment. With HF, sometimes there's a lot going on not only musically but in their videos and it's hard to catch everything in one go.
I feel the same about the pausing, if I enjoy what the reactor is saying and find it enhances my experience of the music and/or helps me appreciate/understand/enjoy the reactor's experience, which was definitely the case here. The only things I'd add to that is that (1) I would prefer, if the reactor's going to pause, that he rewind to a bit before he paused, which for me enhances the continuity...and I've read others' comments, on other channels, saying they feel the same: and (2) you have just GOT to wear headphones!!!! It makes a HUGE difference, esp. with Home Free ( and other great a cappella groups, like Pentatonix, which will also blow up your channel-- don't know whose fans will do that more for you, Home Free or Pentatonix( both groups are famously dedicated and fierce) but I think you will LOVE Pentatonix, esp. if you start with "Hallelujah" which, I'm betting will, like "When a Man Loves a Woman," blow your mind. But ONLY listen to it once you get your headphones on--- please!-- or you will miss SO much of the depth and glory of the experience!
Absolutely. I agree. It's your channel, pause as much as you like, just rewind a bit. And definitely use headphones 🎧 etc. With the deep bass voices in HF & other acapella groups like Voice Play and Pentatonix you will miss a lot if you don't. HF have so many amazing songs. Enjoy 💕
Home Fry here ... glad to see you're taking the slide down the HF rabbit hole ... you are in for the ride of your life ! Glad you're joining the family !
This cover was approved by Shaun of boys 2 men , He was a judge/ coach on the show ; the sing off an acapella competition which Homefree won 2013 ❤ Rob in the beard is opera trained , but seriously they been on the music train 100%
Blue-eyed soul is in good hands with The Beard.... Rob really cut loose with this one. He was always good, but he really let it all out in this song and never looked back. He just got so much better after this, and I didn't think that was possible.
I'm a bass with the Houston Tidelanders - Barbershop choral acapela. And where you would love to sing bass ... most of us would love to have a higher register that didn't sound like someone skinning cats. Home Free is among the top top top acapela groups. Each member could be a soloist if they wished. But they have a gift when they sing together that is amazing. You want bass ... go listen to Home Free cover Ring of Fire (featuring Avi Kaplin). Look up Adam Rupp's drum solo filmed at a concert by someone in the audience. The man swallowed a full drum kit AND a synthesizer! Find a couple of more to watch to get their names down. Then ... finish with their cover of MayDay. Tim Foust (the bass) shows off his FIVE octave range! The man is not human!
We come for your reaction and analysis. We have probably heard the song before, so pause and repeat as much as you need. This is your channel after all. Don't let anyone tell you that you're doing it wrong. Not even me. Don't worry about the names. None of us got them right at first either. I suggest a picture of them all with names and other info somewhere you can check until it is easy to remember. Welcome to the Home Free rabbit hole.
When Home Free does a cover, they pay homage to the original, but always make it their own. Their covers are always upgrades❣️🎼🥰🎶❤ As far as I'm concerned all of the Home Free guys "emote" through their music/videos better than just about anyone else out there--and in this one Rob showcases his gospel/R&B genius in a way that seems to surprise everyone ❣️❣️❣️
These guys do an amazing job of this song! They can do any genre including R&B. Rob's voice has so much feeling & soul in it. Austin adding his higher tones, Chance is holding down the bass in the back, Tim adding some deeper bass notes & Adam with his fabulous vocal percussion. These guys are my favorite a cappella group out there. All their songs are good whether it is serious, heart warming or funny.
I love Boyz II Men and have played End of the Road so many times. I never thought I'd ever like a cover of this song. But Home Free did it, while maintaining the respect for the original. How wonderfully sung by all! But for me it is mainly Rob who nailed it. What a great voice with so much soul in it. He touches me deep inside. Of course it is the combination of the other leads, fantastic harmony, bone-feeling bassline and the inhuman vocal percussion that makes it complete.
When the "stank face" comes out......your are a "Home Fry"! Love your reactions. Keep going down the rabbit hole, you will not be disappointed. Just wait for Mayday until you know the guys names. Don't worry, they will come to you. If you want to see their funny side, The Butts Remix is great. The country comes out in, Country Roads, Take Me Home. Some throwback to the icons of the 70's, try Listen To The Music(Doobie Brothers), American Pie(Don McLean) or Seven Bridges Road(The Eagles). Anything is amazing with these guys.
home free don't do covers, they do upgrades by putting their own spin on it while paying homage to the original artist. they are completely unmatched in harmonies, beatboxing, tim's bass (he has a 5 octave range) they can sing any genre! they also do collabs with other groups and artists as well as some solo songs and they have originals as well. They are pure fire!! banger!! home free never disapppoints!! welcome to the home fries rabbit hole!! great reaction! more home free please, just subbed for my guys!!
They didn't want to out do Boyz II Men because they knew they couldn't, and they knew that they only wanted to RESPECT them. That is why Tim did only a short Deep Voice Homage during the song. But, they made their version AWESOME, just like the original. Great Post.
The bass guy is Tim Foust, he has a 5 octave range. Next to him is Rob Lundquist lead tenor (beard and glasses). Next to him is Austin Brown sky high tenor (longer curly hair). Back row left to right Adam Rupp the beatboxer and ne t to him is Adam Chance ( goes by Chance) baritone. Enjoyed watching your reaction to this song.
Another cover they make better than the original is "Blue Ain't Your Color." Good job reacting! (You might want earbuds or headphones for better input - just a suggestion.)
Rob has the beard, Austin is the high tenor Tim is the bass with a 5 octave range, Chance is the bass-baritone with a great range, and Adam is the beat boxer and brother you are doing a great job
Home Fry here, welcome to the rabbit hole! I recommend headphones so you can here all the sounds of the bass and beatboxing. You also have a new subscriber!
I started falling in love with a Capella groups about 3 years ago, and never looked back.....just the skill alone, in creating instruments like in a band, with just their voices, sets these groups apart from all the rest, and their skills are beyond mention! Another thing I also appreciate as well, is they are able to cross genres with ease, as in the case, where Home Free is generally Country, they can also do soul, rock pop, and everything in-between. I would love you to check out their version of When a Man loves a woman, Listen to the Music, and Butts Remix, just so you can see their versatility 😊
I was raised that crying was a weakness. Now that I am older than dirt. I listen to music. It's like it invades my spirit and I have no control over the expression of my soul. Tears come and it fills my heart. With the passing of every artist. Regardless of how well known. My heart breaks for the possibilities that have slipped through our fingers. After all of these years. I'm just a teary old fart.
The Home Free rabbit hole is amazing. Their talent, and play list plus the joy it brings to us the listener is breathtaking. They are a joy to listen to.
Welcome to the world of Home Free and you will never be disappointed. They have nearly or about 200 videos and not once has any performance of any song they have done is not less than this one or Man of Constant Sorrow. I have been a rock fan for nearly 60 years, but it took an A Cappella band, Home Free, they are the most talented and versatile group I have ever heard with the richest harmonies on the planet. For me, Home Free is the GOAT!
Now i think you need to go to Butts Remix/Medley as your next one and you'll see not only are they a deep well of talent, they are also funny guys who enjoy a good time. You also have only heard Rob, Austin and Tim (the bass, who isn't just a bass, he can sing up in the tenor range too and all of it in between) sing really in solo parts so far. Adam Rupp, their beat boxer will on occasion just sing but often its his musical instruments that round out the sounds on the song and Adam Chance can also sing in the tenor range on down to cover the bass when Tim sings lead. For a song you may be more familiar with, they did a great cover of Justin Timberlake's song, Can't Stop the Feeling from the Trolls movie.
Just my opinion but I believe that our boys could sing the phone book and knock it out of the park I think you can see that now I would suggest that you check out there rendition of brother I just subscribed for more Home Free great reaction man.
As much as I love Home Free, we have to introduce you to the next a cappella rabbit hole called Voiceplay. They are known as the "theater kids" of the genre. They arrange all their own music, perform, record, video, costume, light, create sets...the whole nine yards. I'd love to recommend something but realistically, just glance down their playlist and pick ANYTHING and you'll be hooked.
Welcome to the rabbit hole that is Home Free...and don't worry about pausing; that's why we watch reactions. You can make us aware of little things we haven't noticed before, for instance, and you can't do that with just facial reactions...you go right ahead and point out those places that grab your attention. Love your reaction... now you must be blown away by When A Man Loves A Woman or Motown style Blue Ain't Your Color. There are so many , you can't go wrong with anything.
Yes, these guys captured all of us. REC - for the ultimate in "Blue Eyed Soul" The Righteous Brothers start with - You've Lost that Loving Feeling" and you'll be blown away by Bill's bass and Bobby's unmatched tenor, the man sings 4 octaves cold
I'm so glad you loved this! I enjoyed your reaction. Please do more Home Free songs! For a good laugh and a stunning display of skill and cleverness, view their "Butts Remix" (aka Butts Medley). It's one of their older songs, but it's a masterpiece, as well as funny.
The first time I saw that they did this I thought "What? Really?". Well.... yes. Really. Rob absolutely killed this. I suggest "When A Man Loves A Woman" next. Remember to put your seat belt on, though.
This group just loves to surprise you!! Keep on listening to Home Free… Every member has special talents!Listen to “9 to 5” live onstage! All 5 guys do a “beatbox off” in the middle! For fun listen to “Guilty Pleasures”! For a serious harmony listen to “helplessly hoping” and “Auld lang syne”! T-bone by Austin and Rob when they try to sing operas Nessus Dorma! Welcome aboard Home Fry!!
I love this song. its the only home free song that Rob really gets to show his soulful gritty side. that last verse just blows me away! always love seeing someone else who sees it too. thanks for the review.
Kathy here - I love your infectious smile and your reactions. Thanks for the review. These guys are amazing. You need to check out Home Free, featuring Lee Greenwood and the US Army Choir - Sing God Bless the USA. Lee Greenwood is the older gentleman, who originally wrote and released the song in the 80's. It revitalized after 9/11. Beautiful rendition. You really need to check this one out.
Welcome to the wonderful world of Home Free! There's so much goodness in their back catalogue and the new music they are producing is brilliant. Looking forward to more reactions.
Really fun and good reaction!! 👍 I hope I will be able to enjoy many more. These guys leave me gobsmacked all the time - mostly talent, but humor in bunches and just wonderful folks
Welcome to the HF family!!!! Most of the covers they do they tweak just a bit and make it their own and in my opinion sometimes how they change it it's better than the original. Tim - the deep bass - has ridiculous range. I didn't even know some of those low notes he hits were even able to be sung but somehow he's made it work. But then he turns around and has his own music (the album is Pieces of Me) that has a doo wop sound to them and the first time you hear any of the songs on it, it'll blow your mind! Austin - the bearded, shoulder length wavy haired guy - has an amazing tenor voice, so clear and pure. Chance - short haired beard & mustache guy - is also a bass but he can't hit the low notes like Tim does. The "star" of this song, Rob, has this voice that just can't be explained. When he opens his mouth to any song he does just draws you in and you're in love. Check out "Nessum Dorme" that he does with Austin and grab on and hold on to your hat with that one. Adam - the beatboxer and human sound board, there's not a sound out there he can't duplicate - is one of the founding members of the group. He and his brother Chris started it and then Rob, Austin & Tim came along. Chris stopped being a part of the group and Chance came along. Adam has actually sung instead of doing the beatboxing and his voice is so pure and crisp and clean! When they sing "How Great Thou Art" you get to hear Adam sing and it's so beautiful. On the fun side of the group, Tim's original "Champane Taste On A Beer Budget" or "9 To 5" or "Never Gonna Give You Up" will def leave you laughing. "Folsom Prison Blues" shows off Tim's range but "Hillybilly Bone" does too. Ok, so just go to their list of songs and throw a dart at them to pick one and you'll just fall in love even more. One thing about the group is they all jump on the beatboxing wagon so there's not much these guys can't do
They are something aren’t they?! When they were on the Sing Off (they won in 2013) Shawn Stockman of Boyz II Men was a judge and he loved them. I think they did the song justice. Try Blue Ain’t Your Color, In the Blood, I Can’t Outrun You, Skull & Bones. I subscribed! 😍
Great reaction. Just subscribed. Anything by Home Free does not disappoint. How Great Thou Art moved me to tears as well as a few others. The Butts Medley is hilarious.
Welcome to the Home Free rabbit hole........ enjoy the ride! Home Free-"BUTTS REMIX" is a funny but yet all so good one. They have a very loyal fan base. peace
First of all...welcome to the rabbit hole!! Secondly, headphones are a MUST!!! You have fell into one of the most sincere, warm, and must say rabid fan groups of anyone out there. All of the Fries love to see the look of amazement on new reactors so pausing is not frowned upon. Home Fries Welcome You!
I ran across HomeFree a year and half ago and have just been blown away by them ever since. I’m so glad you are reacting to them and I just love your reactions. This is going to be a fun ride, they’re going to continue to blow your mind. So, so talented and in my opinion every cover they do is better than the original. 🎶❤️🎶
The blending is incredible. I really want to see an interview on how they decide who will sing what. I have seen them all do high parts and low parts, and they seem to work so well together in sharing the leads, it is amazing.
Home fry here👋🏻 welcome to the group! This is my favorite of their songs besides, "when a man loves a woman", "man of constant sorrow", and "how great thou art". I also love "the sea shanty medley".
A great intro to Gospel Rob. Now, to further blow your mind, check out Opera Rob! He and Austin (who studied musical theater in college) did Nessun Dorma together a while back. It totally blew all our minds when we heard Rob's classical voice! He studied opera in college, but hadn't sung it in 15 years. Austin talked him into it. Video is on Austin's channel (Austin Brown).
Hold Onto your seat these boys are going to make you cry with all the songs they do..Get to know each one of them and what their vocal range is.... They all can sing they can all do high-to-low parts they all beatbox all I'm saying is good luck 🍀🏡🆓🏡🍟
Now, THAT was a reaction! But that was a performance, too. "R&B Rob" came out to play in this one. Enjoy your trip down the Home Free rabbit hole - whatever genre you want. But you might go for How Great Thou Art next (beautiful 5 part harmonies!), or - oh, how about Thinking Out Loud/Let's Get it On? Country, R&B, Pop, 50s, 90s, sacred, silly, opera, musical theater, just enjoy them all.
Try it with headphones for a whole new experience! And if you want to see HF lighter side, check out, either, "All about the bass" or "The Butts remix".
They killed this! They are so amazing! Keep listening to Home Free. You are now officially a Home Fry! Check out When a Man Loves a Woman. It will blow your mind. Love your reaction!
After hearing some other reactor's critiques, some of them seem quick to criticize. For instance I saw at least one say that he wished Rob had been more passionate in his performance. If you watch enough of HF, you realize they usually build up through the song to a crescendo which is what they also did here. Thanks for your reaction and seeing the light of Home Free. They're absolutely terrific!
Home Free is fantastic. I think you would like their "Butts Remix," if you haven't done it already. It's hilarious and awesome at the same time. Another artist to look into would be Teddy Swims. Start with "I can't make you love me" and go down the rabbit hole from there. Lastly, is Pentatonix. They're another acapella group...maybe THE acapella group. Their "Daft Punk Medley" is one of my favorites, but pretty much anything they do is gold.
I love your reaction! So many people who are new reactors are so familiar with the song that they can't resist singing along and they fail to see Home Free and all miss all the glorious details of their performance. You'll find Pentatonix and Voice Play are talented as well, but they are more pop music oriented and more theatrical in their presentations. Home Free is all about the music, revitalizing old standards with their own spin (often an upgrade) and producing their own original music. You'll also find find that they lean toward country music, but are versatile in other genres too. I agree with some of the other comments that you ought to invest in a good set of headphones so you don't miss how intricate the music is and the work they put in to produce their sound. Have a great time and dive deep!
Welcome, I see a new home fry! These gentlemen never disappoint. Each member is uniquely talented and they match the vocalists to the song. They do great covers of all genres of music as a group and individually or in duets (even opera). In addition to covers their original songs are also fantastic. The bass Tim has a five octave range. Gospel Rob took the lead on this one assisted by the always smooth Austin. Adam does the incredible beatboxing and Chance the dependable baritone. The Home Free rabbit hole is calling, you will be glad you jumped in.
If you think Rob singing the blues sounds good, you should hear him sing opera, (he is a formally trained opera singer). But, all these guys are insane and can cover any style of music they want to. From gospel to bluegrass, country to pop, rock to blues, and yes, even opera.
Welcome to the Frys we love folks enjoying our guys! Yes, When a man loves a woman also I recommend Helplessly Hoping or One Man band when you have time
