You speak the truth....Home Free is my favorite group and I agree it's a crime that more people haven't gotten to experience the immense talent of these guys. They are special. Your reaction was fantastic!

Home Free is my favorite contemporary singing group. The industry looks down on acapella groups but Home Free has great original songs as well as covers that are just as good as the originals. I totally agree it’s a crime they are not household names and played on the radio.

As they say, Home Free doesn't do covers, they do upgrades. I think it was Sony they signed up with after winning season 4 The Sing-Off at the end of 2013. I think one of the reasons they wanted to go independent was the freedom they would have with a big label. Tim Foust (bass), Austin Brown (high tenor), and Adam Chance (baritone who sang bass in his former group) all have solo channels where they also perform with others who play instruments. Like Chance has videos with the Hound + the Fox. Tim and Austin also have a group of friends and Tim's in-laws who do smaller "backyard bashes" and "birthday bashes" called Sweet + Low Music Co. They also do a small rehearsal/concert for about 3.5 hours every month or so for Patreons above a certain $$, with the first 30 or so minutes open for everyone else. (Rob has a movie review podcast with his friend Beugs called The Avid Indoorsmen, and Adam is Dungeon Master for his D&D circle.) So they all have interests outside of Home Free. They aren't stuck with that one thing. Austin has also been doing a lot videos for a few songs he wrote on his tiktok channel, along with his wonderful lady Amberly. I love seeing the mischief between them for Hers Ain't Mine. And Everlasting Ground is beautiful. (Can you tell that Austin's my favorite?)

I agree with you 100% on what you said about the music industry today and the fact that Home Free SHOULD be mainstream & played on the radio every day!! 👍 I'm telling ya (since you brought up the Temptations again), you'll love their take on "Blue Ain't Your Color"!! It was a country song from Keith Urban. He actually asked Home Free to cover one of his songs, believe it or not! 😳❤ They turned it into a Motown doo-wop, complete with Temptations-esque dance moves!! 🔥🤯 It's epic!!

Rob is considered the best singer by the entire group but each of these guys could have a solo career they stay together because they want to and also to respect their fans.

The same thing happened to Pentatonix. The contract they got for winning the Sing Off only lasted 1 year. Then they got dropped. Instead of selling out to some control freak label, they used RU-vid to become a music super group. Home Free wanted to stay in control of their own destiny. They are wonderful.

They were signed to Columbia. Peter Barber does an interview with Tim Foust, and Tim talks about their record deal and why they bought it out.

Shaun of Boyz 2 Men, was one of the judges when they competed on the Sing Off. He said that they were truly entertaining and had a sound that the world would love. I don't think he was aware of how prophetic his words would prove to be. These guys are known and loved around the world. There are Home Fries everywhere. They tour England, Europe, Japan, Australia as well as across the United States, performing to crowds everywhere they go and are loved. You have listened to just a very few of their songs and are so passionate about them but you have only touched the hem of the garment. There is so much more to explore. They have produced some original songs that rival anything you might hear being produced today for sure. I am a Home Fry and have subscribed to your channel. I am looking forward to watching you react to many more Home Free videos.

IMO, nothing will ever replace the original magic from hearing Boyz 11 Men sing this masterpiece, & I am so happy that Home Free, was able to keep the original integrity of the song, yet still inject their own magic, allowing us, to fall in love with it, all over again 💕 *I don't believe any other group, other than Home Free, could have pulled this off, & the fact that they are an a Capella group, puts them on a completely different level of skill & talent* 💕

They say that a capella groups aren't marketable and that's why they aren't played on mainstream radio and media. And since Home Free covers so many genres, they can't be pigeonholed into a nest little box! However, Home Free has gotten some radio play in Australia and I think a few other countries! When Rob goes off like that, we call him Gospel Rob. He brings the soul!

I love Boyz II Men and have played End of the Road (1992) so many times. I never thought I'd ever like a cover of this song. But Home Free did it, while maintaining the respect for the original. How wonderfully sung by all! But for me it is mainly Rob who nailed it. What a great voice with so much soul in it. He touches me deep inside. Of course it is the combination of the other leads, fantastic harmony, bone-feeling bassline and the inhuman vocal percussion that makes it complete.

Reactor “ That Singer” Nick, calls him “ Gospel Rob”. 😂 Their “ Butts Medley” shows of their hip hop and comedy skills- can’t wait to see your reaction. And you’d love their “ Let’s Get It On/ Thinking Out Loud” is also incredible.

You're so right. It was Sony that they cut loose from. 'Funny thing, a judge on The Sing Off accidentally called them Home Fries instead of Home Free, and the fans eventually took the name. And there IS a revolution going on. I'm buying books directly from an author. I assume publishers are corporate thieves, so I don't blame her. ('Not some self-published loser; her seven-book set is great. I'm waiting for number 8.)

I’m so glad you appreciate their talent! They even did a bluesy rendition of “Folsom Prison Blues” during Covid. They also bring humor to us as well! The show wanted to label them Country because they didn’t have a country a cappella group.

Big labels dictate what songs you will do. Home Free wants to do their own thing. They travel the world and have fans everywhere!!

And NOT played on the radio. It’s awful. These guys are legit. Not only do they sing great covers they also write and sing their own music. When they were on the Sing Off (they won in 2013) Shawn Stockman of Boyz II Men was a judge and he loved them. I think they did the song justice. Rob (glasses) killed it. For something completely different try Skull and Bones an original song by them they wrote for a pirate game of the same name. It’s a banger!!!!😍 Great reaction! Also try Adam Rupp Drum Solo (2015). He’s an amazing beatboxer!

Great reaction! These guys do an amazing job of this song! They can do any genre including R&B. Rob's voice has so much feeling & soul in it. Austin adding his higher tones, Chance is holding down the bass in the back, Tim adding some deeper bass notes & Adam with his fabulous vocal percussion. These guys are my favorite a cappella group out there. All their songs are good whether it is serious, heart warming or funny.

As a fellow Home Fry, I agree that they should be more recognised. It's such a shame that they can't get radio play, or be available to a wider audience. In terms of Rob's voice, he can sing so well in many genres: pop, r&b, country, blues, opera, gospel, and I'm sure there are others I'm forgetting right now. He is considered the best singer of the group by the other members, and that's saying a lot!

If they ever come near you, get tickets to see the show. i have seen then 3 times and would go again if they come around. They play smaller venues, so its a bit more personal. they interact with the audience well. I paid below 40 dollars for the tickets. great shows

I think Home Free's 'revolt' is becoming so popular and beloved without the major parts of the music industry.

As previous commenters have noted, Acapella is looked down on by the music industry as a whole. Home Free has performed NUMEROUS times at the Country Music Association awards, yet the CMA fails to recognize their contribution. Pentatonix has a couple of Grammys…one for a collaboration with Dolly Parton. Look at how many country music and rock artists have asked HF to collab with THEM…yet no recognition. When Fox News put Lee Greenwood’s release of “God Bless the USA” on their YT channel, they completely left out Home Free in the title. Yet, Lee asked HF to work with him because he KNEW that they could carry the load of the song and leave him free to improvise as he never could before. Don McLean and “American Pie”’s 50th anniversary…he asked Home Free to collab. That song is a rock ‘n roll STAPLE. Don’t get me started on why PTX gets the praise and everyone who is introduced to HF asks “Are they like Pentatonix?…which, by the way, really irks me. These guys deserve a lot more recognition.

I love your reaction. This is a good group really great group. And they have an enormous amount of talent and they can sing anything. But the record labels that you were talking about are in control of what the singers and musicians sing and play about if they can control what they sing about and they will get a deal.

Phenomenal, authentic, hardworking, personable ... no end to the adjectives.

HF was not shelved, but as with most music contracts, it was NOT in favor of HF. They wanted more say in what they sang, how they presented themselves, etc. They had been full-time, touring and supporting families before they won the Sing Off, so they knew they could do that. They almost didn't bother to win the show because they weren't sure they wanted to deal with Columbia, but their lawyer simply said, "Go win the damn thing", so they did and then he took care of the negotiations to quit the deal. So they went independent - and radio stations don't play independent artists. Also, evidently radio doesn't know what to do with a capella. They are world known - they are quite well known in Europe, Australia, SE Asia, even Argentina! There are so many independent musicians out there making amazing music - and more or less invisible to those who only listen to the corporate 'airwaves'. Why has no one bugged you about wearing headphones or ear buds to listen to a capella music? Have you heard of Ernie Halter? Jeffrey East? Makena Hartlin? There are so many excellent singer-songwriters out there just trying to get along.

For more Gospel Rob you must react to Home Free at the Hosanna concert 2013 “Joy To the World “(this is all in the title of the video). It’s a jazzy, funky rendition of the Christmas carol, Rob digs deep and really cuts loose. There’s also a beatbox breakdown. Then there are some Chance leads- “I Can’t Outrun You “. It’s pure 5 part harmony, hauntingly beautiful, and Chance directed the video. For fun, “Champagne Taste (on a beer budget), Tim lead, and he wrote it. It’s hilarious.

Their label was Columbia, through Sony. I imagine it would probably been different if Home Free hadn't already been a band for years and knew how to be independent. And it certainly gives them the freedom to do whatever they want.

I honestly almost slept on this song because my dad wore it out in the 90's (he was a cantankerous old Vietnam vet, but he absolutely loved Boyz II Men). Home Free brought it back to life for me, and I wish he was around to see this. Thrilled you liked it.

You need to check out How Great Thou Art. It's beautiful! I like Meant To Be, they have an AMAZING cover of God Bless the U.S.A with it's original singer, Lee Greenwood and the military choir. Then you HAVE to get Rick Rolled, and listen to Never Gonna Give You Up. You need to check out Pentatonix and Voice Play as well. All are Acapella groups. I like Daft Punk, Amazing Grace ( My Chains Are Gone. Pentatonix do those and many more Pentatonix won the first season of the sing off. They have a female singer who is AMAZING. Voice Play is a little harder. They've done an amazing cover of Tennessee Whiskey. The have done Valhalla Calling Me, and so many more. Dream On, and a load of others. Great reaction!!! I'm glad that you spoke up about their position in the music world. You've got Godly men that give us their talents for our pleasure. They have not bowed down to the music world. They do fund raisers, backyard get-together, they do collaboration with different artist and take a step back to let the feature artist have the limelight to their their songs. They do not do obscene songs, they are respectful to women and show that they don't need a partially dressed females gyrating on videos to entice one to watch their videos. They are what you see in singing and home time. They use family and friends in their videos. The world doesn't want to have this in the music world. Preach! And...what you say is true in most, if not all the arts. The actual art (talent, skill, etc.) is, as you say, far down on the list. Which is--again as you mentioned-- why so many great talents are working at Starbucks...or waiting tables...or working construction...etc. Every time I read about acting as if its a beauty contest, with, apparently, no recollection of what acting is really about, and that looks has nothing to do with it other than that the person look convincing in the role, I get depressed about the state of the arts. Yes, Home Fries is a great fan group name. The various tiers of support have fun names like Crinkle Cut Fry and similar names. You’re preaching to the choir when you point out how crazy the music industry is now! There’s a video on YT of an outdoor concert that was canceled due to rain & lightning. Instead of HF just walking away, they went to a shelter where fans were talking cover. They did How Great Thou Art without ANY electronics - just their voices. I’ve not heard that many people be so quiet for the entire song. HF is a top class act that knows & appreciates their fans!,

They did a world tour in 2020, and it was cut short due to covid and they had to scramble to get home. In all the countries where they performed they were well known and received. I think they choose to stay off the radio or something because they've performed at the Grand Ole Opry several times. I think their contract was for one year with Columbia, I believe, and they chose not to continue. They have built a fabulous career with over 254 million views some years ago .. Tim mentioned in one of his Story Time bits. When they were introduced, it was mentioned about the Sing Off and they had over 254... views on RU-vid! By now they're probably at half a billion.

I still cannot believe these guys aren't known by nearly everybody, and why they aren't household names by now just blows my mind. I like a few other acapella groups, but these guys are on another level.

Agree with pretty much everything you said. I'm a British Home Fry, stumbled over their RU-vid channel during covid and they have been in my heart ever since. I've been told that US radio won't play acapella, which is crazy when it's as good as this. Gospel Rob in full voice is a magnificent thing to hear, but Rob is a vocal chameleon. If you want to hear him rap, listen to the Butts Medley. If you want to hear him sing opera, watch the video of him and Austin singing Nessun Dorma (on Austin's channel). And you really need to watch one of the live videos of Adam Rupps drum solos. You're rapidly becoming one of my favourite reactors so more please 😊

Love me some Boyz II Men and Home Free. Do yourself a favor and check out Pentatonix (fans are called Penta-holics). They won their first grammy for their Daft Punk medley that they made for ~$400 in a closet in one of their apartments. Pentatonix also does a killer cover of Bohemian Rhapsody.

I found out about Home Free on RU-vid, because I basically can't music passed 1989! I had all the groups and their cd's that I liked by about 1995! I only listen to classic rock stations because my music is from around 1975 to 1989! I can't stand rap or grunge or any of the stuff that came after 1989 unless it was from a group I already liked and bought their newer albums! I have watched some reactors that play newer music from after 1989 and I tell tell them how I feel about that artist and genre of music!
