@@jameejams2229 Wow. The great man himself! I bet you feel special😉. I really enjoyed your reaction . Best wishes from Australia. Ps Homefree are a stand out group of men in so many ways.
Jamee, actually Austin Brown, is part of Home Free, but they also do solo work, like this.......I just wanted to make sure you understood...they are 5 singers in an acapella group that leans country, but sings all genre's. I urge you to listen to their library of songs - especially their covers of (Bye Bye Miss) American Pie, End of the Road, When a man loves a woman, Everybody Walkin' This Land (watch til the end for Tim's message), collab with Lee Greenwood & Air Force Singing Sargents with God Bless the USA, collab with Peter Hollens on a cover of U2'S "I stll haven't found what I'm looking for"...almost all of those have been done during the pandemic and they've been in Quarantine. Some of their best originals, mostly written by the band members, Warmest Winter, Snow Globe, When you walk in, Dive Bar Saints, Catch me if you can....their most viewed is How Great Thou Art....it's the best vocal harmonies you may ever hear....it's astounding & it might get you emotional...was filmed in Austria among the Alps.
Kevin Clements I love How Great Thou Art anyway but they did an outstanding job on a beautiful old hymn. Have you heard Tim and Peter's version of Misty Mountains? It's Magical. You may remember it from the Hobbit but this version is superb.
Just a FYI Home Free fans are called home fries this group has been together for 20+ years and has over a million subscribers on RU-vid from all around the world.
My future wife and I danced to unchanged melody at my junior prom. My beautiful wife waited for me to return from deployment and married the love of my life. 54yrs, 3 kids, and 11 grandchildren.
Austin Brown is but 1/5 of Home Free and this is Austin's solo cover. The band is acapella with intricate harmonies and layers that are astounding. When you hear the group, you MUST use headphones or you're only getting part of the artistry. HEADPHONES! Check out "Go Rest High on that Mountian," or "Same Old Lang Syne," or "How Great Thou Art" to really get the harmonies for which they are capable. The cover of "End of the Road" is really good, but the best so far is "When a Man Loves a Woman." USE HEADPHONES!!!! Seriously. :)
I caught a couple reactions and I'm just going to subscribe and continue watching as you go down the Home Free rabbit hole as it were. Enjoy...I know the rest of us will also.
"Unchained Medley" was written for the move "Unchained" in 1955. Al Hibbler released the single from the movie. The Righteous Brothers (Paramours) released their version (a single 45's B-Side) in 1965.
I'm sure you were a fabulous singer to your loving grandparents, especially for you grandfather too!! Austin is such a brilliant singer always and particularly this song. Take care xxx
This song goes back to the 40s and is about a man in prison praying for his true love to wait for me, I'll be coming home, that's where the Unchained part comes in!
The original version was not by the Righteous Brothers. The original is from the 1955 movie "Unchained" hence the name of the song. The original was by Todd Duncan.
I love Austin Brown's cover. I will subscribe in hopes you check out Austin with the vocal band Home Free. I recommend you start with their cover of "When a Man Loves a Woman." It also features Austin as the soloist, but many of their songs have the other also equally amazing singers take turns as lead.
Jamee.. Austin Brown is part of Home Free a cappella band.. Home Free had to stop touring for now because of covid which gave Austin and another band member, Tim Faust put out their own music on their u tube channels. Please do more Home Free and then check out Austins channel too..
J J....Austin is a fantastic vocalist for sure. Check out the entire group ( 5 guys ). I think you will really like them doing " Man Of Constant Sorrows ". Nice that you did that for your Grand Parents.
The newest selections from Home Free is "When a man loves a woman" and Austin takes the lead in it. Another fun one is "American Pie" with the writer and creator Don McLean. Both are excellent. The best example of their beat boxer (Adam Rupp) is "Man of constant sorrow".
New subscriber here, found you through Home Free. Would love to have you react to Home Frees cover of "When A Man Loves a Woman". They do a fabulous job, has to be in my top 5 of Home Free songs and that is saying alot !!
I don't know anyone that can listen to this song and not sing along! You have a pretty good voice so I think your version would sound good to.👨🎤🙂Stay safe.😎
I love this group of talented, handsome, and gunny group of men. I'm glad this song has significance tor you. Please keep reacting to Home Free!! They are fantastic pure singers with no gimmicks. Please check out Home Free videos. Austin is one of the main singers and they are great.
You should check out their cover of _Man of Constant Sorrow_ , with all five members of _Home Free_ . It really showcases their exceptional talent! (Despite the name, it's not really a sad sounding song.)
Good reaction. That’s Austin Brown on vocals with Steve Martinez on guitar. Austin is part of the vocal a cappella band Home Free. He’s the high tenor and these guys won the NBC show the Sing Off in 2013 the year after Pentatonix won. They are country but sing all genres of music, gospel, R & B, pop, country. They’re amazingly talented and their beatboxer is incredible. Austin and Tim also write and sing their songs too although they do a lot of covers You won’t be disappointed by Home Free. If you want to hear great harmonies try Helplessly Hoping, How Great Thou Art, Seven Bridges Road. Enjoy!
Just recently, Home Free, as a group, released another version of this song. I think you would enjoy that one, too. It is an homage to the original movie it was featured in.
Someone had to have already said this in an earlier comment, but this is not Home Free. This is only one member of Home Free (Austin Brown) singing and being accompanied by some guitar player who is not a member of Home Free. Home Free is a 5 man a capella group. This is a great video and I do love this performance, but you really should check out actual Home Free videos.
Glad you enjoyed this one.. Home Free is incredible.. and of course, Austin (the high tenor) is amazing. Watch his cover of When A Man Loves a Woman.. and for chuckles, watch their cheesy I Swear... but one of my all time favorites is Helplessly Hoping or I Cant Outrun You.. God Chance is so good.. actually. ..just close your eyes and pick one.. you cant go wrong! New Sub here.. Thanks!
Four months after Austin dropped this video, he and this guitarist did Bill Withers' Ain't No Sunshine. So beautiful! You can't miss that one. I also want to pass along a couple (out of many) of Home Free's funnier side with All About That Bass (a copy of Meghan Trainor's, which she liked) and the very sweet Sunday Best. Oh, and don't miss Quarantine!
Thanks so much for doing this reaction. I can't say enough about Austin. The man is just so talented. It doesn't matter if he's doing things with Home Free or doing solo work like what you just reacted to the man just blows everyone away everytime. If I may give you a suggestion....If you like Austin you should react to Home Frees' cover of "When a man loves a woman" Austin takes the lead on this one and rightfully so. Austin sang his ass off on this one....I would dare say that this is probably the best I have heard from him thus far. Also, if you want to keep reacting to Home Free you might want to check out their cover of " I swear" originally sung by John Michael Montgomery, but also covered by All-4-One a boy band from the 90's. This is a great cover by Home Free and the video itself is hilarious. Thanks again for this reaction and here's to hoping you do more reactions of Austin and Home Free... 🥂 Take care and be safe!!! Oh and you have a new subscriber here!!!
HI JAMEE, YOU SHOULD REALLY HEAR THE RIGHTEOUS BROS VERSION. THAT VERSION WAS IN THE FILM "GHOST". I HAVE HEARD MANY VERSIONS (incl Elvis & Neil Diamond), BUT BOBBY HATFIELD SUNG THIS SONG THE BEST - PERIOD, HE TRULY OWNS THIS PARTICULAR SONG. I HAVE SEEN SO MANY GIRL REACTORS ON BOBBY HATFIELD, SO MANY GOT SO EMOTIONAL OR TEARY OR SPEECHLESS OR OVERWHELMED OR "fell in love" WITH BOBBY. HAVING SAID THAT, AUSTIN DID A VERY GOOD RENDITION OF "UNCHAINED MELODY". TAKE CARE FROM EMILIO IN ADELAIDE CITY IN AUSTRALIA > COVID -19 FREE
Thank you for sharing your story and this song selection was absolutely beautiful. I love the movie Ghost .....who doesn’t? One of my all time favorite female singers is Fiona Apple. A few song choices from Fiona are “Criminal” or “Fast as you can”. Have a great day and see you on the next reaction ✌🏽
@@jameejams2229 I agree , criminal is such a good song that I still listen to till this day. That’s a great idea to react to the video since you haven’t seen it yet. Looking forward for that one. Thank you Jamee Jams 🤗
You DO know the origin of the song’s name Jamee? It was written as the theme song of a movie called “Unchained” in 1955. Of course the most well known version was sung by Bobby Hatfield in 1965. - BG
The a capella band Voiceplay also does a rendition of this song featuring John Pinto Jr. Its another awesome version which makes this song sound so much better having a really awesome 4 part harmony. But I will agree with the other commenters in that you need to check out Austin as part of Home Free. Some of the stuff he and the other guys do is just ridiculous. (And its also a pretty good way to grow a youtube channel as Home Fries are pretty ravenous for good reviewers to listen to HF's discography)
If you really want to get into Home Free, I suggest "Man of Constant Sorrow", "Helplessly Hoping", Do You Hear What I Hear", "Folsom Prison Blues" among others to get an idea of how versatile the group is.
The version in Ghost is not the original. The Righteous Brothers made the most famous cover of the song. It was originally done by Lex Baxter and his chorus and orchestra. Here's a link to a video featuring the original version: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-grGxEwmOZ4c.html
Note The Righteous Brothers did not sing the original version of Unchained Melody. It was written for the 1955 prison drama Unchained. It was originally sung by opera singer/actor Todd Duncan for the movie. Other singers including Al Hibbler covered the song before Bobby Hatfield, who sang the definitive version. The one thing I miss in this song is the background orchestral sound from BH's version.
Be sure to watch (if you haven't) At Last and 10,000 Hours and Lets Stay Together. Others, of course, his haunting tear-jerker original wihat him a field playing the piano (!!!) If I Met You Now. Enjoy along with us all!! Take care. Thanks for your really special reactions.
This one is not Home Free. This is Austin Brown accompanied by Steven Martinez. Thirteen months after this video Home Free as a whole did their own take on the song, going back to the original theme. Different, but just a wonderful. The Righteous Brother made it a hit in 1965 but Unchained Melody is actually from a 1955 prison movie called Unchained. That part of the film can be found on RU-vid.
Hello Jamee, your enthusiasm without all the negatives was just what I needed today. You seem to listen to the music and not the errors.... that is what makes your channel, one of the best I have come across. I could be mistaken, but, I see you as an incurable romantic. Nothin', at all, wrong with that! Stay well and continue bringing beauty into all of our lives - Lord knows, we need as much as we can get. I thank you.
If you love his voice, you should check out Home Free's cover of "When A Man Loves A Woman", All of the guys have amazing voices and it's an acapella group, but Austin leads this song.(That's his name).
For a surprisingly good version of the song try the one by Ray Stevens who is more well known as a comedy singer. BTW, the Righteous brothers version was a cover. Todd Duncan sang the original in 1955... Enjoyed the reaction.👴
I liked your reaction; however, the original release was by Tim Duncan in 1955. The Righteous Brothers release was in 1965. I also prefer the Righteous Brothers version.
Hi Jamee. The Righteous Brothers did what's probably the best known version of the song, but it was written as a theme for a 1955 movie, "Unchained." The movie wasn't especially popular. The song was sung by Todd Duncan for the movie soundtrack, but was also recorded by Les Baxter, Al Hibbler, and Roy Hamilton later that year. Here's the Todd Duncan version, from the movie: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-G11mDi_LXe8.html. And for a history of the song in general, look here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-LrquswYcwV0.html.
I highly recommend you correct the title since it's incorrect and so the credit actually goes to Austin as it's not Home Free doing this song, but him and Steven Martinez.
Hi and sorry I am new at this so I hope I am doing this right . I am a combat veteran could you please react to a song they did called go rest high on that mountain . sorry for any bother and God bless you
