"Alexander The Great" is one of their absolute best! If you like guitar solos you can't go wrong with that one and also with historical context as lyrics.
The Charge of the Light Brigade was a British Military disaster where although the Light Brigade demonstrated conspicuous gallantry on the field, they never had a chance because their leadership completely F*cked it up, sending them into the "Valley of Death" taking enemy cannon fire from 3 sides. It's an amazing Poem: "Forward, the Light Brigade!" Was there a man dismay’d? Not tho’ the soldier knew Some one had blunder’d: Theirs not to make reply, Theirs not to reason why, Theirs but to do and die: Into the valley of Death Rode the six hundred. Cannon to right of them, Cannon to left of them, Cannon in front of them Volley’d and thunder’d; Storm’d at with shot and shell, Boldly they rode and well, Into the jaws of Death, Into the mouth of Hell Rode the six hundred.
Fantastic reaction!👍 With many Iron Maiden songs, you get an accurate history lesson. The Trooper tells the account of a British soldier in the Battle of Balaklava during the Crimean War. Lord Cardigan led the British cavalry against Russian forces during this battle on 25 October 1854. Lord Raglan had intended to send the Light Brigade to prevent the Russians from removing captured guns from overrun Turkish positions. However, there was miscommunication in the chain of command and the Light Brigade was instead sent on a suicide mission charging straight at heavy Russian artillery which cost the lives of over a hundred British soldiers. Alfred Lord Tennyson wrote a poem to commemorate this disaster and he called it "The Charge of the Light Brigade". The bronze that the recaptured guns were made from was used to make the Victoria Cross, a military medal of the very highest order that was awarded "for valour". Very few of these have ever been awarded, even to this day. Other great Iron Maiden history lessons you could check out.... Run to the Hills, Alexander the Great, Paschendale and Empire of the Clouds. I've been a Maiden fan since hearing their debut album in 1980 when I was 10 years old. I've seen them live every time they've played in London, their home ground, and they never disappoint. Up the Irons!!!
Nice reaction, guys! This is one of the few Maiden songs that I actually like the studio version better. Check out "Dance of Death" En Vivo next for a great live performance. Bruce Dickinson at his best (storytelling and vocals). 3 guitar solos in this one as well that will blow your mind.
Great reactions guys. I actually like the idea of you listening to the studio versions first, definitely helps to know the song a little bit so you can enjoy the live performance more. Rime of the Ancient Mariner would be another great one to react to, taken from the famous poem of the same name and they even use a few lines from the poem.
The words on the screen are Alfred, Lord Tennyson's poem "The Charge Of The Light Brigade". it is about the Battle of Balaclava during the Crimean War. The Light Cavalry Brigade suffered massive casualties during this battle. Tennyson wrote read a couple of accounts of this battle and thus wrote this classic poem. It is worth a read and captures the essence of battle, war, decimation and cost.
That rift is so iconic...Have not heard Iron Maiden in years but when I hear the guitar rift....boom.... I knew the song instantly. Absolute great performance.
the energy man!!!! when im riding my bike up hill or sprinting this is my go to song. it drives me on. the lyrics paint such a vivid picture. i love this band so so much
Welcome to the Maiden family;-) This is the best rabbit hole in the world,,,.....so enjoy the ride;-D Iron Maiden is the best (live;) BAND in the world;-P Up the mighty Irons!!!!!
Yes!!!! The giant skull in the back ground is EDDY....That is his name....in concert they have this 10 feet tall person that represents EDDY. He walks out onto the stage and everyone goes nuts.....he shoots Lasers Beams out of his eyes..... It's a trip....for real....we were wasted Awesome concert.....This one time my girlfriend and friends went. We were seated by the huge speakers....I tell ya...after the show we could not hear for hours. They handed out ear plugs but we said F no. We dont need them. Were we wrong...lol...The good all days can't beat it!
Aces high has such a nice intro and what their talking about and the guitar playing everything about that song jus sounds great every maiden song has history lesson to it
This was the very first song I heard form iron maiden and it was an instant favorite. This was followed by Run To The Hills, and then my first Iron Maiden album, Powerslave, spearheaded by Aces High. All 3 feature videos of similar format ; "live" performance/appearance of the band interspersed with old movie footage. Run To The Hills takes a humorous route with an old Buster Keaton movie.
The song does have a galloping feel just like riding a horse!!! Live After Death 1985 was the greatest live performance ever captured on film in Long Beach California!!!!
So many great songs. Number of the Beast is a good one to try. Also Aces High and Flight of Icarus touch on the historical and classical literature genres
For the best experience of Iron Maiden classic sound, please, do listen to Live After Death. All songs are top notch and also A Real Live Dead One. Both albums are so good and yet, so underrated.
This song is on impressions from the Crimean War (19th century). The battle described here ("Battle of Balaclava") was one of the most futile massacres in war history. Unbelievably tragic. Another deeply impressing song on war is "Paschendale" (also from Maiden). It is a _must-listen-to_ , and the most impressing anti-war Metal song in music history, in my view. Paschendale was a Belgic village which was completetely levelled in the course of bloodthirsty massacres, in the course of WW1.
On my 4th video from yall. Just found your channel. Yes I subscribed since i heard 3 from my fave Band Van Halen i had to subscribe lol. Hitting this and then Hot for Teacher which i was about request! Lol EDIT: Any Iron Madien Live is good with Bruce at the helm! \m/ You need From Who the Bell Tolls from Metallica and when you do it Live do the "Day on the Green" or is it Day at the Green🤔🤷🤣 You will LOVE IT!
Maiden is awesome, but if you like history you should also check out this band: Iced Earth and their album The Glorious Burden and the song Gettysburg (it's 3 parts totaling 30 minutes)
Some people tease me about being 61 I do not care you know why because I got to drive the coolest cars when they weren't that old yet Got to see the coolest bands when they were in their prime and that included iron maiden One of the very best live acts I've ever seen in person and I've seen hundreds of bands over my time There's no songs Buy them where you can't go wrong They've been putting out incredible music since I was 13 years old in 1975.
There is a new band out there today called Liliac who's keeping this style of rock alive, you should check out their cover of this song you won't be disappointed
I’m not sure how much you two would like the music, punk is an acquired love! But I’d really love to see you give the Misfits “dig up her bones” the official video a try! It’s a great starter song into the Misfits and you all will love that they’re health nuts, all huge! The guitarist Doyle even has some of his own supplements out, and he’s absolutely ripped to be a couple decades older than both of you and me 😂 he’s inspiring!
It would be cool with you have a chance to check out the song Iron Maiden from Iron Maiden with there original Lead Singer Paul DiAnno and Drummer Clive Burr on Drums.
its from the poem Charge of the Light Brigade by Alfred, Lord Tennyson - famous in british history, as 600 men of the Light Brigade either got the wrong orders or took it on themselves to charge into a valley full Russian artillery only half of them came back !
Miscommunicated orders, their Commanding Officer was on a hill top and could see the Russians making off with some Turkish cannons. He sent orders to stop them but down in the valley the Light Brigade could only see the Russian cannons which were set up to fire, so without querying the orders they charged them instead. The following lines from the poem sort of sums it up “Theirs not to make reply / Theirs not to reason why / Theirs but to do and die.”
thank u to both of you react to one of my favourite metal band...there a so many best song and live from iron maiden...next reaction please do The Paschandale and Sign of the cross live version...up the iron💪💪💪💪💪💪
Rime of the Ancient Mariner, Revelations, Caught Somewhere in Time, Where Eagles Dare, 22 Acacia Avenue, Powerslave, Alexander the Great. Always the studio version first.
You really need to listen to early Iron Maiden's first 2 album's with Paul D'onno on vocals. It will see how much they progressed with Bruce Dickinson. You should start with Wrathchild from the Killers album and from the first album Phantom of the Opera and Remember Tommorow.🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
Check this cover version on your own: STEVE'N'SEAGULLS - THE TROOPER If, or when, you like it you might concider reacting to their biggest hit: STEVE'N'SEAGULLS - THUNDERSTRUCK (an AC/DC cover). They make heavy classics their own with a totally different style.
