The most respected female soloist in K pop. She debuted way back in 2008, and still shines the brightest. She is an amazing songwriter, singer, actress. She is incredible. She is the most adorable , kind-hearted person I have seen. I love her a lot. ♥ ♥ You need to check out so much from her. Her killing voice performance is very much recommended. Other recommendations: knees, a lost child (debut), the visitor, love poem, bbibbi, blueming, palette, good day, ending scene, dear name , etc...... The list goes on and on...

IU's Introduction to the song: "I have a friend who has often been treated as an eccentric person due to her eye-catching outfit, her unique taste, dynamic talents, defensive mechanisms stemming from shyness, and a personality that clearly knows her preferences. I loved her even more because of these unique characteristics of hers, but for the same reasons, she has been living under more scrutney and hateful eyes. These are the words I wanted to tell my 'unusual friend' that turned into the lyrics to this song but as I worked on the song, I realized that this is also my story as well. After completing the song, I thought that anyone can be the main character to this song. I'm sure everyone has felt left out at least once in their lives because they dont' meet the standards others have made. A fun fact. The star and the word 'celebrity' at the beginning of the MV were written by IU using her left (less dominant) hand. In the chorus: "Don't forget among the cloudy dark You're a star painted with a left hand Can't you see how beautiful A true uniqueness can be? You're my celebrity". This is a metaphor that IU uses in a beautiful way. Because the majority of the population are right handed. So if you try to draw a star with your left hand, it won't look perfect. However, that uniqueness is still beautiful. And that's the message that IU is conveying to the listener. That you are a unique star and your uniqueness is beautiful and should be cherished. IU is incredibly talented with her song writing and her lyrics are always very poetic and full of deep meaning with the metaphors that she chooses when writing the lyrics.

Many of her live performances and MV's are available with subtitles. There are no words that can express how much I love this woman. As an entertainer, actress, songwriter, musician. There's one thing you have to have in mind with IU.. the talent she have singing, at least the same she have acting.. i'm not going to say that is my fav k-pop female singer because there's a LOT of amazing singers in south korea, but definetly is my fav actress.. if one day you want to start viewing some korean tv dramas, Hotel del Luna, that's the one you have to start and IU is the protagonist..

At 8:30, when you said that she really uses her voice well, you are so right! One of her long time producer said that one of the reason she stands out is because of the way she uses in a particular way each words of a sentence when she sings, it makes you connect with her easily and make you feel the emotion of the song.

Blueming is amazing but you should watch the live clip from 2019. You will have a whole new respect for her voice. IU is maybe not the best singer in S.Korea, but she's one of the most beloved celebrity (not just singer) there :) she has so many eternal songs, on cultural level popularity in S.Korea ... she is ofc a very good singer, but her main weapons are voice tone, emotional delivery, enunciation, and lyricism. she's a special entity in S.Korea entertainment industry, as idol/ celebrity (with huge popularity) BUT with idealism of a folk/ indie singer. Also she already reached the peak of industry as 17-18 years old (from 2010's), BUT still on the top right now (2022). this is like a dream within a dream in the industry (mostly stars came and go after 4-5 years on top of their career, and industry is very harsh to female idol :( ) anyway, thank you for your reaction

Since you asked... You are one lucky bastard since you get to hear (and see) a lot of her stuff for the first time. IU doesn't just have a massive musical presence, but has done award-winning Kdrama series, hosts a variety show where she talks to artists ("Palette"), does a lot of Behind the Scenes videos, and even occasionally does a goofy video or two where she plays a new secretary at her company. ("I'm not supposed to tell you this about IU, but...") Musically, my favorite song by her is "Eight," which she's posted both a live version and the music video version. You might also check out vocal coach Justin Burke's videos on "Eight" in which he listens and comments about her tone, pitch, and how she subtly changes her volume and phrasing - he's blown away by her as well, and after listening to him, you'll also hear her in a whole new way. You should also check out two Kdramas which feature IU in two very different roles and are beloved by her fans and are usually the Gateways to IU fandom. "Hotel Del Luna" is a Romantic fantasy where she plays a 1300 year old woman cursed to run a hotel for dead spirits until they can move onto the afterlife. It's probably the most unusual mixture of humor and heartbreak you'll ever see. She has some heart-tearing scenes, but also some where she's absolutely the snottiest, funniest, greediest bitch in the world and IU really leaned into that. Plus, she has a killer collection of dresses that she seems to change every five minutes. It's still one of people's favorites. Dramatically, "My Mister" blew everyone away, won her awards, and led to her being cast in the Cannes-winning film "Broker," which will be out by the end of the year. "My Mister" has her as a street-rat temp secretary in a construction firm, struggling to support herself and her deaf grandmother, and gets involved in a scheme to sexually entrap her boss so he can be fired. It's really a unique showcase for her acting skills because even though she's the female lead, she actually has very little dialog for most of the first half of the series - she's bugged his phone so she can hear everything he's doing and all his coversations, so much of her performance in the first half is her listening to him, and just reacting to what she's hearing with her posture and that wonderfully expressive face as she realizes he's a good guy and decides to help him even if it screws her deal which was going to make her a lot of money. This was the show that established her as a serious dramatic talent and is guarenteed to have you in tears at least a few times during it. So enjoy.

I kinda late to your video, but i want to recommend for IU (perhaps others already recommend this anw lol)...Hold My Hand live version on Seoul 2019 concert. It is available in her IU Official Channel and safe to react to. In my opinion this one is a treasure, bcs even her fans were blown away with this live performance. IU is famous for singing live perfectly, but this i believe is one of the best i've seen. And also IU and Jhope sing live together, thats an absolute treat. Heaven in my ears.
