Jeff is a legend and criminally underrated as a guitarist. He's definitely one of the goats. Sadly, we lost Jeff several years ago to cancer. Quick background; Jeff learned to play guitar the traditional way as a child but found it more comfortable for him to play it on his lap instead. Thus, launching him into a category unmatched by any other musician. May he RIP.

Jeff Healey "AS THE YEARS GO PASSING BY" - Germany 1995 is a must to check out. Jeff is an Icon, a Legend!!! He was playing with his teeth, not his tongue. He was a master Jazz man too! He played trumpet. Check out some of his Jazz music, Jeff Healey and The Jazz Wizards, like "I WOULD DO ANYTHING FOR YOU" and "SWEET GEORGIA BROWN". Sadly, we lost Jeff at the young age of 41 to cancer in 2008. I miss him. I cannot imagine what else he would've accomplished if he were still with us. It would have been amazing to find out. I will cherish what he has left us with, such amazing music to enjoy and to share with future generations. RIP Jeff. ❤🎵

As a blind guitar player myself, I greatly look up to Jeff Healey. FYI, playing on your lap isn’t necessarily harder. In fact, it was easier for him. He tried playing it the conventional way, but he preferred it on his lap, even though I think he can play it the conventional way. also, most, if not all, stringed instruments used to be played on the lap. As showmanship became more popular with guitar, people started playing it, “hanging from their neck.“ 😊

Have loved Jeff since discovering him decades ago. Due to a rare form of eye cancer, his eyes were surgically removed when he was only ONE YEAR OLD. Hence you see not only a difference in how he plays guitar, but also differences in his movements. Jeff never saw how other people moved, so the joy he experiences while singing/playing guitar may not look "cool". But, to me, I love seeing him expressing his joy. Sadly, like SRV and Gary Moore, Jeff also passed too soon. Jeff died at only 41 years of age, due to that rare form of eye cancer, which he had battled all his life.

People that are not that familiar with or don't actually play the guitar do not realize how difficult it is playing with it in their lap.
