Wheel in the Sky 1978. Watch Steve during the guitar solo. What you are hearing is Steve singing. Most people miss it or think it's coming from the guitar. Also check out Sweet & Simple, audio only. Another song Steve wrote before joining Journey. Sam Cooke was his inspiration. Beautiful, soulful and blue's.
Lead singer Steve Perry said he wrote "Lovin' touchin' squeezin' " about an girlfriend who was cheating on him... We've all been there and I can relate completely 👿(Effin ho...)
The Evolution album is a banger, bro. My fav by them. But there are lots of great songs by Journey. Their albums Infinity,Evolution, Departure, Escape,Frontiers and some of Raised On Radio, are all worth your investigation. Enjoy the ride...T
Oh My Stars! Where do I start? First time I heard Journey was on an 8 track!!! I have yet to see a younger generation realize what the "na na na na" means! Love your reaction young man! As a diehard Journey fan, do yourself a favor and react to "Wheel In the Sky" Live from Osaka Japan 1981! He's not called The Voice for nothing! Love from Texas 🤠🤠🤠
Greetings, saw Journey 1982, at The ROSE BOWL, Pasadena California,4th of July weekend with BLUE OYSTER CULT, TRIUMPH and ALDO NOVA….my first concert, paid $16.50 , I was 16 years old♥️🤗👍😍🎶
I saw Journey 5 times live in the late 70's early 80's & everytime they killed it! You should listen to "Wheel in the Sky" (official video), "Lights" (official video) & "Mother, Father" (live in Houston). You can't go wrong with Journey!
Great! The list of Journey recommendations is long, but I recommend you a song that has not so many mentions but it´s a masterpiece IMHO, and is: "Edge of the blade". That song exposes the great vocalist Steve is, also the guitar work is amazing.... is very dramatic. Here is my entire list of recommendations for Journey: Any way you want it Separate ways (worlds apart) Open arms Wheel in the sky Lights Who´s crying now Stone in love The party´s over (Hopelessly in love) Still they ride Mother, father Send her my love Chain reaction After the fall Rubicon Only the young Ask the lonely Suzanne I´ll be alright without you When you love a woman With Arnel Pineda: City of hope Edge of the moment Chain of love Human feel
Sweet and Simple might be my favorite 70s era song, while Lights and Wheel In the Sky would be their other best known songs, Too Late is very good. Anyway You Want It is from 80, but its part of the Greg Rolie (piano) years. Like others have said the song is about Steve's real life cheating ex. Not only was this their first song to break the top 20, meaning everyone heard it, when he did his tour promoting his solo album For the Love of Strange Medicine, he had this whole bit where he would tell a version of the story of catching her before performing the song (you can find clips from different shows).
I saw on one of the FTLOSM concert videos, Steve was telling the story behind this song and he said "I bet she's missing me now!" Good for Steve, he got the last laugh!
Please please please check out Wheel in the Sky and Walks Like a Lady live in Osaka Steve plays around with that beautiful voice of his alongside Neil's guitar
This video always shocks first time viewers. Lol. But I have always thought…is that Steve is HOT!!! in this video. I feel so sorry for the girlfriend he wrote this song about. He made her famous. 😂😂😂 who would EVER cheat on Steve Perry??? 😂😂😂
I always felt this song had a definite stripttease/burlesque sound and beat. I think that's why the guitar isn't in the foreground. You've only heard 3 Journey songs -- don't pick a favorite yet. "Feelin' That Way/Anytime" is one of their best, from 1978.
Steve was the band's original chick magnet. Women went crazy for how he sounded and looked. For one thing, the HAIR. This story is personal to Steve who wrote it about an ex whom he caught cheatng on him. Slut shaming, with a long chorus of na na booboo...The accompaniment is loosely based on The Stripper. The women in the audience were a;; asking WTF was wrong with her! This song was early on in his musical relationship with Neal...this was all about the VOCAL.
Great 👍 Suggested videos 📹: 1 Journey performs Open Arms. 2 Steve Perry sings I Stand Alone 3 The Storm performs Show Me the Way 4 Bad English performs Forget Me Not.
Steve perry vocals are phenomenal, try reacting to the songs called Lay it down, Sweet and simple, Lady luck, Edge of the Blade, After the fall. Troubled Child, Positive Touch, Girl cant help it, Suzanne, l La do da, Mother Father, Dead or alive, Chain reaction. All awesome journey songs. Steve perry solo songs, Oh Sherri, She's mine, You better wait, Foolish heart, Strung out, Go away, Against the wall, Missing you. All great songs 😎👌🎸
Next do Father mother please do react to this this one also is my favorite the voice no one comes near his voice as far as the clothes it was in at the time he wore it. Well, I’m sure a lot of folks agree on that.❤❤
They're honestly the best live performance band I've ever heard. I had their greatest hits "live" cassette, and it got way more play time than the studio version cd's I had. And yes, I'm an old guy now and actually still have a few cassette tapes around somewhere. Don't even own a player anymore. I refuse to let go of my cd collection, though. Too much time and money in that one. Send her my love, Stone in love, or just anything from their greatest hits collection will satisfy your melodic pallet.
Steve can sing any style, any time, any where. He's a vocal beast! Steve wrote this song before joining Journey. He found out that his girlfriend at the time was cheating on him. Revenge rock! The lesson should be learned that you don't cheat on you boyfriend songwriter 🙂
Steve Perry wrote it about finding out his girlfriend was cheating on him. After their break-up her lover starts cheating on her. Karma. It was written before he joined Journey.
A great live performance would be "Walks Like A Lady" 1980 in Osaka. Japan. I don't believe there's ever been a more perfect pairing of voice and guitar than Steve Perry's voice and Neal Schon's guitar.
