KC & the Sunshine Band are the antidote to a bad mood, a bad day, you name it. You just get up, start moving, and you feel better.

KC & The Sunshine Band is an American disco & funk band from 1973. They had lots of dance hits such as "I'm Your Boogie Man", "That's The Way I Like It", "(Shake, Shake, Shake) Shake Your Booty", "Keep It Comin' Love", "Please Don't Go", "Give It Up" etc.

Harry Casey or KC of KC and the Sunshine Band is reportedly worth $10 million. In 1982 he was in a serious car accident that left him partially paralyzed and he had to learn to walk and talk again. Saw him in concert a few weeks ago and no one was sitting down for KC!

I do wish you would do the live versions. Mainly, you get the feel of the 70s that way. It's your channel so do what you like. I danced to this and Shake your booty more than I want to admit to , lol 😂😂😂

I agree. The reaction definitely is a miss for me just looking at the album cover. Definitely not the full effect.

I used to boogie just like you in the clubs back in the day to this song! Loved it then and love it now! This song really did bring people together, to "boogie"! We'd put on our boogie shoes and GO! This one's my fav! Now I really gave my age away! 😏 You would have appreciated the live version to give a front row seat to what it was like at this time!

This band was huge, huge, huge in the 70s. It's sampled so much because all those artists & producers know this music. Everyone in the 70s knew KC & the Sunshine Band, even if you didn't like them! Glad that you're discovering the artists behind the music you've heard before but didn't know who they were. You better believe my and my friends were dancing around the house to this, playing the whole albums, doing the 70s dances. We were tooooo lucky!

One of the biggest factors of whether they're "rich" is if they own the rights to the songs. Unfortunately, many young artists don't know about that aspect and sign away the song rights to the record labels.

You need to react to Betty Wright "Clean Up Woman." The groove on that one is legendary. Check the guitar riff by Little Beaver.

To continue your journey you should check out "Shake, Shake, Shake (Shake Your Booty)", "That's The Way (I Like It)", "Keep It Coming Love", "Please Don't Go", " I'm Your Boogie Man", "Queen of Clubs", "I Like To Do It" and "Hooked On Your Love". They also wrote the mega hit "Rock Your Baby" for George McCrae which was one of the biggest hit songs of early Disco. KC also recorded the song without the vocals. Both versions are worth a listen.

Harry Wayne Casey (KC) and Richard Finch are probably pretty well off (I know KC is for sure). They were partners and founding members of the band. Most of the other members were hired guns on salary and not participants in the profits. KC played piano/Keys and Richard played bas. They wrote the songs together and put them together in the studio. They met when Richard was a recording engineer and KC was down on his luck working as a night janitor at the recording studio. They were the only 2 in the studio at night, so they started talking and became friends. Richard showed KC some of the stuff he was working on and KC thought he could come up with a simple song to make a record for fun. Soon KC came up with a rough version of the song "Rock Your Baby." Richard took the song, worked a little studio magic on it, and it quickly became a big hit for George McCrae. That seemed easy enough to KC so the 2 started working on songs together. A few songs and a couple of demos later KC & The Sunshine band was born, and the rest is history.

ALWAYS do KC & the Sunshine Band LIVE - you want to WATCH the joyful performances they put on too. It is half the fun. (MOST groups the studio version is better, but NOT with KC & the Sunshine Band). I thought that none of you these days that spend all your time listening to rap music knew how to dance - today you proved me wrong (& I'm glad about that.) Good for you. As for which order of KC & the Sunshine Band songs to do - I'll leave that to you & others. In my opinion - just pick one & it will be good.

Come on man! Where do you think all this sampled crap comes from? It’s the real musicians boomers grew up with. 👈 Craziest band booking I’ve ever seen packed in one show. (that wasn’t a Festival) Opening act was Nazareth, “Hair Of The Dog Tour,” while the headliner that night was Aerosmith, and sandwiched in between was K C and the Sunshine Band! This was the “Toys In The Attic Tour,” and each band was promoting their new albums. Surprisingly, it worked! 😵‍💫 K C was the odd duck on paper, but their show was lit, high energy start to finish! For those who know, it was like watching Sly and The Family Stone. 🤘😎

I could be wrong, but I have seen a few modern concerts on RU-vid, and I'm pretty sure most of the original band members aren't touring. It's a different Sunshine band than the orignial phenominal 70's version of the band. Also, KC's 80's hits lost the funk and soul of the 70's.
@andreaschmall5560
@andreaschmall5560 5 месяцев назад
They certainly did have way too many hits, IMO. They were so commercially "bubble gum" disco in an era when bubble gum music was long over. And they were not nearly as good at it as the bubble gum music artists of the late 1960's and early 1970's were. The only song I sort of liked was "Boogie Shoes" but that was probably due to it being part of the Saturday Night Fever soundtrack and a bit different from most of their other songs, which were mind-numbing repetitive; again...my opinion.
