When Waylon Jennings found out Keith Whitley had died, he said we've lost the best country singer that ever lived, Hoss. Truer words have never been spoken. Keith Whitley was the heart and soul of traditional country and if he hadn't died so young, he would've had many more big songs and albums. Great reactions!
If Keith could have solved his inner demons and beat his problems with addiction, he would have dominated the 90s. One of the greatest voices in country music ever with a bunch of great songs despite only really breaking through in Nashville 4 or 5 years before his death at 34 years old.
If he beat those demons, he wouldn’t have given these heartfelt messages. This man had a calling just like hank. Be the best, make ‘em cry, and leave them wanting more!
“I’m no stranger to the rain”, “Ten feet away”, “Don’t close your eyes”, “Miami, my Amy”, and of course “When you say nothing it at all”. After his death many country artists covered his songs most notably Allison Krauss cover “When you say nothing at all”. I’m partial to Keith’s version more but Allison’s was great too.
Amazing singer. Gone way too soon😰😰😰❤❤❤ Please react to "Don't Close Your Eyes", "When You Say Nothing At All", "Miami, My Amy", "I'm No Stranger To the Rain", "Ten Feet Away", and "Brother Jukebox"... by Keith Whitley..❤❤❤
I love Keith Whitley!!! Don’t close your eyes is my favorite Keith Whitley song. Miami my Amy! Tell Lori I love her(for his wife Lorre Morgan). RIP KEITH!!!! Gone way too soon! I remember when he passed away. Tore my heart out!
Keith Whitley was country at its finest and this song shows you. To this day it’s one of my favorites. Pure poetry. He left us too soon. What I love about this song is the story. People saying he’s drinking too much and looking rough. And him being in denial and saying he’s over her. He spends 3-4 minutes trying to convince the listener he’s over her. The lines in this song are absolute gold.
He was amazing!! His voice. Oh my goodness!! Was to die for. R.I.P. You will never leave truly leave us. Your music lives on!! Please react to his song When you say nothing at all. One of his best and a top gross hit!
The guy was so ahead of his time. It's a shame he died of alcohol poisoning at 34. He became a legend off the amazing songs he cut in a relatively short amount of time. To this day I'm Over You is one of my favorite songs. Pure poetry with the lyrics.
Such a smooth and relaxing voice. One of country music greats gone way too soon. Glad you guys enjoyed my request. I'll gladly give you more on a stream if you ever want to react to more. Just let me know.
Such a great loss. He was really broken after breaking up with Lori Morgan. "Tell Lori I love her" is one of his last songs. To me it sounds like its done at home and not in the studio but maybe that's how he wanted it to sound. It's a must listen to song.
I don’t understand the attraction to Lori Morgan, but she didn’t seem to have a problem reeling in the men. She must really be impossible to live with though. She’s been married six times. I guess the sixth time is a charm for some folks.
@Asia and BJ- Great song here. Keith Whitley was one of the all time greats. Sadly we lost him way to soon due to Alcohol poising. He was only 34 when he died. Don't close your eyes and When you say nothing at all are also two great songs of his. Allison Kraus did a cover to his when you say nothing at all but I still like Keiths better. I encourage you to react to more of his stuff.
It's funny - Keith Whitley was a voice of my childhood and I couldn't place the song title. Then I heard it and knew exactly what song it was and could sing along. Some songs and voices really stay with you!
My all-time favorite country artist is Keith Whitley since I was a kid I even game my little girl Whitlee as her middle name just changed its spelling a little, she just turned 5 a few weeks ago. I was going to use Whitley as a first name if my wife had a little boy, but it worked out no matter what. This artist has a great catalog of songs, and you can feel the notes when he sings songs like I never go around mirrors and Between an Old Memory and Me . Those songs are just to get you started with his music we call them drinking songs.
So many great songs by this artist! I grew up on Keith Whitley. Yall should also check out No Stranger to to the Rain, Tell Lorie I Love Her, Kentucky Blue Bird, Don't Close Your Eyes, When You Say Nothing At All.... there's really just too many to name.
It has everything to do with her .. trust me, been a Keith Whitney fan since '91... 2 years after his death.. I was in the 6th grade, definitely my favorite country artist period!..
As I was watching you both, I suddenly realized I was smiling at watching you both having fun with each other. Loved your reaction. Kieth Whitley's passing was a tragedy. He was a great singer. Thanks for your reaction.
On one of his albums he included a demo version of "Tell Laurie I Love Her", you can almost hear him calling out to his wife, Lorrie Morgan, that he is sorry for what he is doing to himself and to her.
My guy here was spot on. Him saying he was over her was just him trying to tell himself that, which anyone whose gone through a breakup can relate to. Unfortunately Keith was singing the truth here. It’s so sad this song was released after he died of alcoholism. RIP Keith
Maybe, maybe not, who knows. I guess it depends on the mind set of the listener. When this song was a hit on the radio it was an anthem for me, and my self deception. But that was long ago and time heals. Makes a person humble and ready to accept the wonderful gifts life has to offer. Simple things mostly, like this channel and others. Thanks 👍👍
His hero was Lefty frizzell who was a country star in his own right. I think country would have gone a totally different way if Keith Whitley hadn't drank himself to death in 89. But my all-time favorite Keith Whitley song is Kentucky bluebird. It was such a beautiful song
He is the reason Vince Gill started writing Go Rest High On That Mountain, but couldn't finish it until his brother died. Keith left us way to soon. Only 33 yrs old. He died from accidental alcohol 🍸 poisoning.
Don't know if you've listened to anything by Laurie Morgan yet but FYI she was married to Keith Whitley when he passed. I love Keith. He had a classic country voice. Try and check out Laurie, she's got a beautiful voice.
In the song he was saying that he is over her, but in reality he is struggling. He is trying to show her he is strong so she doesn't feel bad for him by denying everything she hears, and everything people see him doing. He really truly does miss her and want her back, but he will only ever tell her that he is over her.
If Y'all Are In A Keith Whitley Mood I Got A List Of His Songs You Should Check Out Miami My Amy Some Old Side Road I'm No Stranger To The Rain When You Say Nothing At All Don't Close Your Eyes
Tell Lorrie I love Her....recorded with just him & his guitar in a non professional setting. There's white noise and all....but it was his declaration to Lorrie b4 he died
@@brandonrickbornponyexpress6574 - Yeah, I agree with you but as I wrote, I can see it going the other way, too. Or maybe the lyrics were purposely written to cover both situations. It's a sad shame he killed himself drinking. He had such a smooth voice. A great country singer, gone way too soon.
I’ve always seen this song as he’s NOT over her. That’s why he’s drinking and hurting. But no way he’s telling her that. He’s saying “I’m over you” but he ain’t giving her the power to know he’s not.
Truth is I'm not over You. And frankly I'm too ashamed that the whole town knows I can't let you go ......so I'm gonna tell lies that I'm ok because false pride is what I have left since I don't have you
The heart of the song is he's deluding himself to believing that he's "over" her while the reality is telling otherwise. Bottom line is he's lying to himself.
