The song IS about Caruso. He had married a younger woman, and this song is about him knowing that he's dying and in his own way, saying goodbye to her though he doesn't want to go. Many, many incredible singers covered this song, including the great opera singer Pavarotti. But once Lara Fabian covered it, it was universally regarded, including by the songwriter Lucio Dalla himself, that her version was by far the best one. Thank you for covering another of Lara's masterpieces!
Caruso, is an italian song, written, composed and performed in 1986 by Lucio Dalla as a tribute to Enrico Caruso, the most famous tenor of his time (late 19th / early 20th century). He was the first global singing superstar. The story is about the last days of Enrico Caruso, he knows he is dying, and he is remembering all his career on stage and telling his much younger wife how much he loves her. It has very quickly become a classic of italia music and the biggest names have covered it (Julio Iglesias, Andrea Bocelli, Josh Groban, …. and of course Luciano Pavarotti). But for many, Lara's version from the concert From Lara With Love 2000 ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-BP2KnLemT78.html is the best ever, as she was able, with her unique ability to convey the emotions of a song, to reveal the real sad story written by Lucio Dalla. I was told that Lucio Dalla himself, after hearing this performance, said that she made it her song and this is the best version he has heard from it. For Lara, this song is really important as this is a kind of anthem for Italy, and she is so much connected to this country. She spent the first few years of her life there with her sicilian mother and grandma. Her husband is also sicilian. She also as been living there for the past few months since the end of 2022.
You don't get much better than this... the first time I heard Lara was this performance. I had to sit down. And, everything she has done continues to amaze.
Omgsh!!! I can’t believe you reacted to Lara. She is phenomenal. Like no other. You need to listen to her sing Broken Vow in concert. She wrote it about a break up of her own. So passionate. Also. Je Suis Malade. You will be blown away. Please react to these.
Glad you have return to Lara ❤ In my opinion I don't think she is human she's definitely an ancient Goddess who took human form just to show us what real music is.
@@ericzeichert511 Actually,if in fact she comes from Earth ( which is a valid question) she would be from Mount Olympus, home of the Greek pantheon. As the reincarnation of Euterpe she would have predated Minerva.
Linda reacción! Saludos desde Costa Rica! Increíble y hermosa obra maestra impresionante de Lara Fabián, la mejor cantante e intérprete del mundo entero, la voz de cristal más bella y perfecta que existe! Reacciónen por favor a Quedate, Perderé l'amore, To love again,Broken vow,I Guess i loved You, Traviatta, Lebedy, Mademoiselle hide,Parce que tu pars, Angels pass away, Tango Desesperate housewife, Tout, Lou! I'm Italian and LUCIANO PAVAROTTI for us was "THE MASTER", an angel sent to the earth by God itself; why I'm saying that here? simple ... I have listened to PAVAROTTI version of CARUSO, but for me LARA version is best one, superior also to the PAVAROTTI one; no more words needed ... LARA FABIAN is one of greatest singer in the World ... no one is good to express emotions like her!
Next: Broken Vow ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-kJBGCI8aSE4.html An english song she wrote based on her own breakup story, later covered by: Barbra Streisand, Josh Groban, Linda Eder, Cakra Khan, Regine Velasquez, Morissette Amon, Katrina Velarde, Rimar, Almira (4th Impact), Sarah Geronimo, Craig Harrison, Petra Berger, Julie Anne San Jose, Jackie Evancho, …
I think you two are now ready for the piece de resistance, her Live In Paris 2001 version of J'taime, which gave her the strength to continue her career when she was considering retiring do to some heavy internal situations. It is a must see, and to be awed by.
Lara Fabian is DIMASH'S IDOL, she is also considered like The Fourth Element of All Time Vocal Trinity (with Whitney, Mariah and Celine) and one of the Best Female Singers of the World...The passion and dedication when Dimash is performing a song can only be compared with the person who has influenced him to sing leaving everything on stage: His idol, the queen, the incomparable, the Goddess: Lara Fabian...She is a lyric soprano with a amazing vocal range and incredible breath control...She speaks and composes in 5 languages and sings in more than 15 languages....That's why she is the inspiration for Dimash and several singers around the world..." you are still in the 90s with Lara, i suggest to you that you should look at her amazing career in Russia from 2008-2018 most of them live from the Kremlin where she became # 1 in east Europe and Asia
Lara Fabian is, for me anyway, is The Ultimate Artist............she paints a clear picture of the story as written by a composer with her powerful yet somehow warm tones, with her subtle body movements, with her perfect tonal pitch, with her clear and precise diction ( a true Polygot she is fluent in 5 languages, conversational in 3 languages and has recorded in 12 languages as diverse as English, Spanish, French, Italian, Greek, Russian, Ukrainian, Portuguese, Hebrew..........and others ), with the attention to story details only an accomplished song writer such as herself can provide............she does all this and even more incredible is her unique talent to INVITE an audience INTO that story and travel the journey With her -- absolutely phenomenal ! This particular song was made famous by none other than Luciano Pavaratti and is usually sung by male tenors but for me Lara's version is the one I will remember forever. This is a fine reaction.....thank you. My personal favorite Lara Fabian performance is her cover of Barbra Streisand.s two songs from the Movie Yenle.........she covers the two songs back to back - even Barbra never did this live - the best version is from her concert " Pure " recorded in Montreal..........all her attributes are on display in this cover..........it will blow your mind. again, thanks.
There are always better quality versions of Lara performances, here's one that's clearer visually and includes short anecdote ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-BYQtXYZnJrs.html. Here's another song from the same concert (From Lara with Love 2000) Broken Vow: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-FNVR0yK8Ec8.html
This gorgeous song just grabs you…then impeccable Lara keeps you mesmerized while she weaves her sound with the story of the sone… She is “art” , literally, personified. Tks for the reaction to her!
Once again the very beautiful , strong but velvety voice of Lara Fabian..The ""Belgian powerhouse"" Lara speaks Italian fluent as one of her native languages Lara understands every meaning of every word and phrase in the song. That's why she can put her own emotions in every word. Lara can also sing soft and high soprano ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-UDY8wYX7nbY.html
Of course she understands... As you said it yourself, Italian is one of her native language (alongside with French) so of course she's fluent and of course she understands her own language! What's so strange about that?!
Thanks for your reactions to Lara and yes, you nailed it. Not only is she an incredible vocalist but it is the emotion that she conveys in a performance which raised it to another level. I've been blessed to have see Lara in concert a baker's dozen times over the years in various venues in Europe & North America starting when she was in her late 20's till most recently now in her 50's. If you get the chance to see her in concert, you will not be disappointed. Thanks again for your reactions
🇨🇦 You have barely scratched the surface ! If you want to discover more of her range and talent, you should react to her first biggest hit called "I Will Love Again" which is more of a rock/pop style, and then react to her Duet with Johnny Hallyday called "Requiem, pour un fou" ! The one song that gets to me every time, is "You're not from here" !
as guittadabe5214 commented below, "Caruso" was written to honor Enrico Caruso, the great Italian tenor who died young, shortly after his daughter was born.........originally written for a male tenor, all the great (and near great) male and female operatic performers have sung this piece.....btw, her Mum is Italian, so it is her inherited language........
History of this show produced in Montréal late 90's by Sony Music and Lara Fabian's Team. It was supposed to be air on PBS nationally 90 minutes TV special to promote the next voice of Sony Music who had signed her for 2 albums. BUT..... Céline Dion's Team did not liked it and put pressure on Sony Music to not promote her or else..... so it was never showed in the USA nationally, only NY and Canada .... Of this album with no radio play , also supposely blocked by Céline"s group she still sold 3 million albums and went back to Europe broken hearted... About 15 years ago Lara's Team decided to release this show on the web.... Her second album with Sony has many big songs from Lara, again never release in the USA only in Canada and Europe....bunch of A Hole...This story alone would make a great movie.
I recommend a Spanish singer, her name is Diana Navarro. She is a very versatile singer who sings different musical styles with a very particular voice and incredible melismas, she always transmits when she sings. The song is "El perdón" official video clip. Best regards
Great reaction guys. I really appreciate you. There are 2 more songs that I would love to watch you react to. Mademoiselle Hyde and J'ataime live in Paris 2001 I hope you will have the time to do it.
A few more you may want to hear. Love by Grace, Perdere L'amour, Quedate, You're Not From Here, Tout, Je t'aime,Broken vow, l Am Who I Am,I will Love Again. In fact you may want to review the whole famous concert in Montreal called "From Lara With Love"
Lara Fabian is of Italian origins but in fact she is not. Italians understand that she sings in imperfect Italian, but those who are not Italian may believe that she sings well. You should know that in Italy she is almost unknown.
Most people know that she was born in Belgium. From an Italian mum, btw. Italian and French are Lara's native languages. I do understand that she is practically unknown in Italy. But I think that some sort of musical nationalism is the main reason. Also, the barriers raised in her musical career against Celine Dion are debet for this. Yet she came back. She has an amazing influence, even nowadays, in music. Also... 😉 She is not a "singer". She is a performer. An artist. There is a difference between a hobby painter and a master painter. Both paint... But one is a recognised artist. A master in colourful expressions... Don't you agree that the artist Fabian is unfortunately not well known in Italy... What a loss...... Innit? 😏
I assume you can read and her name is not Laura but Lara. Just put in a little effort. And Fabian is pronounced the French way. That's not complicated, is it ?
