This song is from 1971, from Led Zeppelin's 4th album, which is untitled, but known as Led Zeppelin IV. Considered by many to be the greatest rock album of all time 😁

So happy you listened to the studio version first! Too many reactors start with a live version first and that doesn't give them a true understanding of the context of the song. Many never even go back to here the studio masterpiece, which is one of the greatest achievements in audio recording history. I highly recommend checking out the studio recording of the Led Zeppelin song "Since I've Been Loving You" next. It will touch your soul! Peace

I am now 73 yrs young, 3 kids, 10 grandkids and 2 great grandkids and still rock to Zeppelin and will continue until the rock has left my roll and I am on that Stairway to Heaven. Your insight was spot on, but I was really impressed by your facial expressions and the look in your eyes which are the pathway to your soul. I saw you had a wonderful journey even before you said a word. Thanks for the trip back in time for me and hope you have pleasant journey's going forward in your musical quests. Peace

I was enthralled by your ability to grasp the essence of this song so quickly. Yes, it is a true spiritual anthem as well as a musical masterpiece. You'll find other great ones sprinkled amongst the genre. Beatle lead guitarist George Harrison carries that theme through many of his songs -- both while with the Beatles and beyond in his solo career. Dive deep, young lady, as you are doing, and you will be richly rewarded. ❤

I knew Robert Plant pre Led Zep. We come from the same small town in the Black Country and he would often come down to our blues club. He was always willing get up onstage and jam with us. Off stage he is quietly spoken and quite shy. He still lives in the area, albeit a much larger place in the countryside!
@sicotshit7068

Can’t imagine him shy, but I’ve heard he’s so nice & down to earth, he has a great sense of humor too. My favorite singer, with his amazing range tone & textures, I know it doesn’t come as easily for him these days though. I’m glad he’s still doing what he loves, & he shared it with all of us, he made the best choice choosing his music.

Rere, for a young woman you are a very old soul. Loved your reaction. By the way, half of Led Zeppelin are made up of Brummies like you! Yes, singer Robert Plant and drummer John Bonham are from the Birmingham suburbs. The other two members of the band, guitarist Jimmy Page, and bassist/keyboardist John Paul Jones, are from the suburbs of London. ps~Thank you for reacting to the studio version of this iconic song first. Always do the studio version first. Now that you have, you can react to the live version from Madison Square Garden in 1973.

Unfortunately, Led Zeppelin has the most distracting 'official' videos on the internet. Like they were slapped together in 5 minutes, with 8 or 9 images that just repeat on a loop, changing every 3 seconds, and out of synch with the music. One of the (if not the) greatest rock bands in music history, and this is what they put out for their videos? Why? It's as if the distracting video is trying to PREVENT you from getting lost in the music. It's criminal.

Amazing to see someone experience Stairway to Heaven for the first time. For many people, this song is the greatest of all classic rock music. Also if ya dig and enjoyed this video Stairway to Heaven was a classic though not to the real heaven and i was almost worshiping this band during my drug years 😀 you may also enjoy the song " Most of All " By Glenn Kaiser and Where Roses Grow Live by Rez Band Awesome songs check them out. Also I remember hearing the song by Led Zepp " In My Time of Dyin " during my drug years and made me think about death and Jesus. Then a hippy friend that dug Jesus told me more of Jesus love and forgiveness and how I could also know Jesus love. So in 1981 I cried out to Jesus and wow man He came into my life and I had and have so much joy and peace and now know that through Jesus when I die I will be with Him in Heaven. Hey Jesus loves each of you also and yall can know Him if you are at all open. Just cry out to Him and a good question to ask yourself if you were to die today would you go to heaven ? And if yes why ? To find out more please read the Gospel of John in the Bible or check out the movie on RU-vid. 😀

Interesting interpretation. Especially your idea about a duality of materialism vs spiritualism. I am sort of "against" both concepts 😳 - I am definitely a deep critical of our economical system although I understand certain concepts within the system that can be quite good and even are necessary for certain achievements of modern society. And I am a rather intense atheist who of course believes in soul/spirit as part of our brains ... but really just being special modes of our brain. I think I remember saying the author of the lyrics who is also the singer of the band that this song is about "hope". But surely he leaves like most good poets a lot the the interpretation of the listener. Anyway - thanks a lot for your reaction. It was really a pleasure. And after watching several of your reactions I could now relate really well to your face expressions. Kind of minimalistic but still showing a lot emotions. Thanks a lot for sharing this first experience of listening to this rock song which is really one of the best songs ever created.

In the day, bands could chart their own identity. They could write songs that they wanted to. Songs and arrangements that took you to their world, and you felt it. They could experiment in the wide open, give you their artistic vision, and still be famous and make money doing it. Today, you will not be played if your song is not under 3 - 3.5 minutes.
