Patreon.com/RobTV I told my friends/co-workers that "I Write Sins, Not Tragedies" by Panic At the Disco is one of the best white boy songs I've ever heard. Now they're sending me song suggestions and I'm doing live reactions here.
Oh man I respect the honesty. That’s where the comedy is presented without trying. It’s a real reaction & not something rehearsed. With that being said “Break Stuff” should have been the introduction song for you to this band. That would have given a better impression of who LB really are.
N-together or my favorite is Boiler , I liked this because I watched Mission Impossible TV show as a kid. Also you can't hear the bass without 14"s pushed by a couple watts.
@@cmdRUID kind of irrelevant tho, because to me, every limp bizkit song sounds like this lol but don't get me wrong, I love their music sooo much, but Rob is def right about the lyrics and it applies to their music as a whole
The thing about Limp Bizkit is what you expect when you hear it. It is made to be dumb and fun, and that's what they give. If you try to find a deep meaning you probably will get disappointed, but if you just forget about it and embrace the goofy, it is really good. Their last album after a long hiatus is named "Limp Bizkit Still Sucks" so they know what they're doing and they know people will dislike it.
@@HollywoodRobTV I don't know how much you know about the band, if you're starting to listening now expecting something more serious, with deep lyrics like RATM, you will get really disappointed. But once you start to understand that they don't take it too serious and just want to make fun music, you can like it more if it is your thing. Songs like Break Stuff, Nookie and Faith are the best examples, the lyrics are edgy and goofy, but it is made to people have fun. Even Fred Durst is like a persona on stage, acting like a douchebag earlier on their career. For the last album he changed it to some like goofy dad. They know who they are and what they want to do, and they just do it even though people will hate. That's pretty awesome IMO.
@@Brenooomaniezo I completely agree with everything you said, except Faith was a cover. And yes, George Michael was also very goofy, but that's a rabbit hole in and of itself.
Avenged sevenfold took a very similar approach with their newest album. They just wanted to make something difficult that not everyone would enjoy. Mostly for fun. I respect it. Just making art you want to make despite the fans leads to some interesting music.
I actually enjoy this song. It's different imo. Limp bizkit has some bangers. Imo these are the songs that are worth listening to -> Faith, Nookie, Re-arrange, Rollin', My generation, and My way.
Nobody, even in the rock/metal scene, has ever mistaken Fred Durst for a legitimate rapper. We always saw him as an obnoxious (in an occasionally fun why) hype man to on otherwise explosive and creative band. Also, their live sound punches like Tyson. Had me scanning the venue for signs of collapse.
I was 13 when this song came out...and i loved it. Now, 23 years later, its painful to listen to the lyrics. But if i just turn my brain off and jam to Wes Borland's guitar, it still slaps.
YES! I used to hate pop music because the lyrics were so UHHHHHHH until I visited a country where I didn't know the language and realized the same type of music, when I didn't understand the language, was really fun! After that, I learned to enjoy no matter how much the lyrics alone would turn me off.
I love limp bizkit, but I also appreciate your honesty. There music isn't meant to have deep meaning behind it, they just put out bangers and I love them for that. There guitarist is legendary, and the drummer and bassist are very good too. They were trained in jazz.
I am a 50 year ago white dude from central Indiana farmland. These are my songs. Truly Love your reaction and appreciation of the music. Gonna watch all of your newest music videos for sure. And give them a Like 👍🏼
@rob Limp Bizkit- break stuff is their most banger of a song. I'm super surprised that you have not done a reaction vid to Slipknot's psychosocial. That song will put anyone on 100% charge level 😁
Trying to wipe the tears from my eyes as I type this... I haven't laughed that hard in a while! Thanks Rob. If I find the secret and where they keep it... I'll let ya know!
I could tell you a story about the singer, what he did at an Outlaws owned club in Jacksonville FL let's just say he almost had his rear handed to him by the outlaws, I can't tell the story here or YT would ban me forever! In involved a female bartender that was related to a high ranking Outlaw, he (Durst ) wouldn't take no for an answer.
Interesting that you say this sounds like something from a movie. You may recognise the melody as the theme tune from Mission Impossible, and this was written as the closing credits track for Mission Impossible 2
So refreshing for someone to put this so clearly. I grew up with a lot of this stuff and I am, of course, aware that it is cringe to an extent. But never saw it this clearly before. The outside perspective is great.
I loved Rob’s insight on this song. His vantage point on the lyrics was really on point. Limp Bizkit has better lyrical offerings but nothing as tight as Rage or SoaD
Its a soundtrack song. Thats why it sounds kind of like the mission impossible theme. Because it is. Lol When they make a movie and use an artists song, its usually descent. When the movie ask the artist, to write a song for the movie, its trash a lot of times. Because its quickly thrown together. Not always, but often.
this reaction is so funny, i love limp bizkit, not for their lyrics but for their all over vibe ! the music, the way he delivers his vocal and so on. i also love rap music and can easily say limp bizkit arent the best for it. but definitely easy to sing along to and rock out too.
The lyrics are fire compared to what Rap HIp Hop has out Now 2023, this band was never known for it's rap it was known for it's fusion of rap, rock, metal, DJ and in your face vibes especially Wes Borland, truly underrated, agree to disagree.
LMAO man these are too good 3:39 4:17 literally what I was thinking while the song was playing 😂 5:12 I DIED HERE MAN, BELTED AND DONE WOKE UP MY FAMILY 😂😂😂 You should give these songs a try (fast tempo, sweet guitar riffs): Pet Symmetry - Had A Name, Don't Remember It PUP - Free At Last PUP - Sibling Rivalry If you don't like at least one I'll subscribe to whatever top tier patron on your Patreon is 🤞🏽
I grew up on this music, and those in your other reactions. It’s awesome seeing you get to experience some songs that defined my youth. I basically binged them all. They also inspired me to revisit a couple of albums that probably last listened to 15-20 years ago. Keep up the great work.
One of their newest songs, "Dad Vibes" is pretty funny. The lyrics are still basic but they're better. You can tell they learned a little in the 20+ years since this song. Also, "Rollin' (Urban Assault Vehicle)" is an all rap version of the Undertaker's song featuring a bunch of old school rappers. And the song "N 2 Gether Now" features Method Man. And finally, Ready to Go features Lil Wayne. They also had Eminem and other rappers do cameos in their old music videos. So even though their lyrics suck, they were still respected by some of the top rappers.
Bro I hate to be a deep cut MF but I noticed you did not listen to RENEGADES OF FUNK by Rage Against the Machine, and as a DEEP CUT MF, you are missing out. Post it up next. This afternoon. I'm locked in. Let's go. LET'S GO!
Your energy and honesty are too rare in this world these days Rob, you keep these kind of videos up and your going to blow up bro. Telling you. Welcome to CA been here all my life.
@@HollywoodRobTV Awesome! Thank you for replying! I'm loving your seies. This may be too many suggestions but SOiL - Halo and Coal Chamber - Loco are really good too and fit the category.
All the tension in the world today All the little girls fillin' up the world today When the good comes to bad, the bad comes to good But I'ma live my life like I should (Like I should) Now all the critics wanna hit it Ya shit can how we did it, just because they don't get it But I'll stay fitted, new era committed Now this red cap gets a rap from these critics But do we always gotta cry? Do we always gotta live inside a lie? Life's just a blast that's movin' really fast You better stay on top or life will kick you in the ass Follow me into a solo Remember that, kid? So what you wanna do? And where you gonna run when you're starin' down the cable of a Mic pointed at your grill like a gun? Limp Bizkit is rockin' the set It's like Russian Roulette, when you're placin', you bet So don't be upset when you're broke and you're done 'Cause I'ma be the one till I jet (I'ma be the one till I jet)
basic is actually a perfect way to describe them. I won't lie though, I LOVED them back in the day, got wasted rocking them at so many parties. I don't think this is their best song, but even their best isn't 'fire'
I think this song is one of their best lmao. All the lyrics in all their songs are terrible but the music aspect of Take a Look Around is great to me. Check out Nine Inch Nails; they have phenomenal lyrics and great music, The Hand That Feeds and We’re In This Together Now are my favorites
But the part you like about this song, the music...is just the Mission Impossible theme repeated ad nauseum. Which is fine...sampling is a thing but....if that hook is all that's good about a song...not a great sign.
@@craigstambaugh I don’t read into it too much. it’s catchy and it’s fun and it’s heavy so I enjoy listening to it. I hate every other Limp Bizkit song ever created though
One of my favorite songs is A Little Piece of Heaven by Avenged Sevenfold. It's different and eclectic but I think you'll like it since we've had the same opinions on a lot of songs you react to. Love the content man keep it up!
Your analogy of this being a band in a disney movie is bang on, this was actually written as the soundtrack to one of the early mission impossible franchise so had to appeal to a wide audience, hence the lack of fidelity to their genre and roots.
Let me add that if you’re beginning to understand why we love guitars so much and you are starting to appreciate them, you’re going to have to go back to Zeppelin and Pink Floyd. That shit will really blow your mind. They’re not all full of energy that you’ve been digging into here lately, but 70’s/80s guitarists are now mostly considered the best of all time and when it was at its peak.
Fred was def better at his screams than his rap but even with that said he did his job as a hype man than the screams were the cherry on top. Still love this band and what they did. Still no one replicates limp bizkit. Falling in reverse comes close but a different vibe.
Just finished the playlist. If you want some old school rock; "Empire" and "Silent Lucidity" by an 80's band called Queensryche are solid songs yet fairly different from each other. Given how you reacted to the C&C song, you may want to try Guns & Roses "Cold November Rain". Some other rock songs from the 70's and 80's are; "Paint it Black" by The Rolling Stones "Stairway to Heaven" by Led Zeppelin. "Back In Black" and "For Those About to Rock" by AC/DC "Another Brick in the Wall" by Pink Floyd "We're Not Gunna Take It" by Twisted Sister "Hot for Teacher" bt Van Halen
Wes Borland actually has a solo group. If you like the instrumentals of Limp Bizkit you should give Black Light Burns a chance. 4 walls is a great song by them.
Missed the Limp boat by not doing BREAK STUFF with the music video playing . It would give you some insight into how big Limp Bizkit was back in the day.
To be fair, the band didn't like the vocalist either, but they were sellin, so they kept playin. in the 90's/early 2000's, Fred Durst (vocalist) was probably one of the most hated people in the metal community, but we all kept listening because his band was fire. Dude even showed up in a girls gone wild ep back in the day just literally finger banging a groupie back stage, dude is vile and so completely up his own ass he's about to turn inside out. Limp Bizkit and Korn exploded onto the scene at the same time, but Korn is still loved and making records and Limp ain't, but as this idiot said, everything happens for a reason.
For context on the lyrics, Fred was so hated that all of LB's songs after the first album were basically vague diss tracks because he couldn't pinpoint exactly who hated him the most. So he just wrote diss tracks for his "haters". Which as you can tell with this song, means his lyrics don't actually mean anything, and when you can't rap or sing, it just falls on deaf ears, because I can say with absolute certainty, none of us cared about what he had to say. To make things worse, it was a Limp Bizkit set here in Australia where a teenage girl died in the pit, and he refused to stop the set when they were told, girl got crushed to death. Fuck Fred Durst, I'm sorry his kick ass band had to put up with him for so long.
Fred Durst isn't really known for his lyrical ability Rob, his delivery is simple, direct, more old school, and this is an old song from 2000. When it comes to Limp Bizkit it's really about the theme/message, and the sound that creates a certain vibe.
Judging Limp Bizkit off "Take A Look Around" is like judging Jordan off his baseball career. Decent enough but not their best stuff. They were hired to write that song for the Mission Impossible soundtrack so it couldn't really be lyrically that definitive. Granted, Fred Durst isn't known for being the best lyricist but he has better work that this. The rest of the band kicks ass on that track though.
This is from one of the best movie soundtracks ever (imo). Mission Impossible 2. Plus the melody on this song is actually the Mission Impossible theme.
"I'm a rap connoisseur...... I'm black" I about fell out of my chair...fuck that was funny. I love your videos. It's like Kevin Hart doing white boy video reviews 🤣
Few great listens that I would love to suggest: Led Zeplin - Ten Years Gone as well as Over the Hills and Far Away AC/DC - Shoot to Thrill as well as Highway to Hell Black Sabbath - Paranoid Sanyo & Johnny - Sleepwalk Everclear - Father of Mine ABBA - Angel Eyes & Dancing Queen Alabama Shakes - Hold On Mountain - Mississippi Queen
Behind Blue Eyes or break stuff would’ve been a WAY better intro. This was done for the mission impossible two soundtrack, and it shows. They’re definitely doing it for the paycheck.
Your sense that they are building lyrics for a movie is spot on because that's exactly what they did. This is the Mission Impossible theme toon. When the first Mission Impossible movie came out they did the reboot of the theme toon and then added lyrics to it. I'm not the biggest fan of the Lyrics of most Limp Bizkit songs I listen for the beats.
bro, thank you! Been saying this about the lyrics for decades. It got a lil better on the later albums. I argued with mf's for years about this band. Music/ riffs were incredible. Lyrics were meh if you know real hip hop. i saw Limp Bizkit when they werent anything and had a 3 song set in front of Korn and Delinqint Habits in a 500 seat venue.
I wonder what some of the other lyricists we've heard so far would do with this song if they could do it differently. Edit: Ahahahaha I wonder what you'd think about Nookie. I feel like...Limp Bizkit was a meme band when memes were still in ascii. XD
When those dudes are sitting in their studio not even bothered to remember that there are 6x platinum discs hanging on their wall😂😂😂😂😂😂 Not to mention every damn time they get paid for the royalties to the mission impossible track they were invited to create, got paper for and you're critiquing.... 24k times on your tube alone🤦♂️😂😂😂 You're a critic, go pull out any other track they created and enjoy what makes this band still valid today. Being a music artist is always an evolution and these guys are still mutating. Just been to their gig in gunnersbury park.. I'm a dad same age as Durst, I was surrounded by 30,000 people, half my age and less on Sunday, (that's a minute fraction of of the numbers they were not afraid to play to with any lyrics, twenty years ago) who knew every single lyric and bounced to their energy even harder than twenty years ago. If back then, you went blow for blow with any artist from right now, Limp Bizkit would have crushed them bad lyrics or not. Limp Bizkit is not the mission impossible theme track lyrics! It's the synergy of the whole!!!
Its so funny to me, most people that dislike Limp Bizkit they complain about the singer and his Lyrics, I never really pay attention to lyrics at all. I really like this band for the riffs and the beats. The guitar is super sick to me in this song.
