Yes. This song is so instrumental to the 90s. It captured a moment, it captured a decade. What's so magic about this artist is she wasn't even signed when this song came out. Ethan Hawke was a friend of hers, who asked her to do a song for the Reality Bites soundtrack. The video was directed by him, and it catapulted her into pop culture forever; this song is a love letter to the 90s and when you hear it, you FEEL it.

And the arrangement in this piece is as close to perfect as you can get. Get goose bumps there in the middle when the emotions start being heard in the little vocal cracks. Usually you don't want cracks in your voice when performing but these give the song substance and emotional value. More perfection.

She is one of the first indie artists in the 90's when the internet did not still exist. Her song was played in radio stations without signing with a big recording company. Unlike of today that anyone can just post their videos online hoping to go viral and famous. And she was one of my celebrity crushes since the first time I watched her stay music video in MTV here in the Philippines.

I don't know how you've managed to pull off getting these artists on your channel, but I like it! I love seeing their reactions and comments. Keep the videos coming. "Stay (I Missed You)" is such an iconic song from the 1990s, and just as iconic as the song is Lisa's signature eyeglasses. She's rarely seen in public without them. If she hadn't become a singer-songwriter and/or musician, she could've been an eyewear model for a living. In a way, she kind of did become an eyewear model, since she came out with her own brand of eyewear.

Lisa is fantastic. I was drunk one night with my girlfriend, and we stumbled into a festival, and lo and behold, there was Lisa Loeb, and she was singing Stay. That happened in Houston and it would've been late 90s. She sounded just as good in person as the radio. I have mad respect for her.

It's nice to see Lisa Loeb being rediscovered today. I saw her on Daryl's House not that long ago. Now I am seeing her here. I was a huge fan of her starting with the album Tails. For me, she is of the exclusive class of singer/songwriting women that includes Kate Bush, Tori Amos, Sarah McLachlan, and Joni Mitchell.

I have to confess and I waited a very long time to but as much as I loved Sarah, I went to see Lisa. Honest to God and all I find holy. She's such a gem and her performances kept me breathless! After all these years my mind has flipped this lovely song. I was a caregiver for my wife of 42 years who had dementia. A lot of people have asked me why or how I stayed with her as she forgot who I was. I would remember Glen Campbell's song "I Won't Know You When I'm Gone. I had a sort of crush back when I saw Lisa Loeb pop up . I was like 10’s of thousands of 20 year old men who fell in love with her music and her class . She was so different . My focused changed to trying to make 2 long term relationships Work over the years . The instant I saw the thumbnail it was like seeing a girl you had a crush on in high school and Seeing she has not changed at all . What I like most about Lisa Loeb is the unique cadence to the lyrics. Uprooting the traditional structure of a songs’ vocals. Inspiring to say the least. She challenges creativity in songwriting. I had the SAME drum machine that was used in Lisa's "Stay (I Missed You)" back in the late 90's & early 2000's. This song was a big #1 hit, and #6 for the year 1994. I gotta admit, I was kinda crushing on Lisa Loeb back then. 😊

So interesting to hear her talk about the writing, just doing it almost stream-of-consciousness. What fascinates me about this song is how it’s so unstructured: there’s no forcing the lyrics into a verse-chorus-verse-chorus pattern. There are some parts that echo earlier ones but really the words just go where they will and the melody follows them. I’ve never encountered another song quite like it in that regard. Thank you so much for reacting to this, and for the amazing bonus of Lisa herself!

(Quick extra note: there’s a song called “Man Overboard” by an Australian band called Do Re Mi that makes a really good companion piece to this, a similar sort of recounting of a relationship going sour, addressed to the other person in it, similarly thoughtful and clever but rather more acidic in its temper. Would love to know what you think of it.)

I love Lisa Loeb. Her music is so real and organic for me. I fitst saw her at a time when her music appeared in the movie, "Singles" came out Right around when her first album came out (I think just before the album dropped). It was a multi act show at the Roseland Ballroom in NYC. She was so petite, a bit shy, and SUPER talented. I was in love at first sight and first hear.. I still crush on her. So happy she visited your show.
