Im 44. I miss all music from the 90's. Hip Hop and R&B was so real. Multiple platinum artist back then. Also there were good artist who didn't make it as well. You had to be super talented in order to get noticed.
Agree indeed !! I've got goosebumps and teary eyes everytime I hear this song since the first time till today. I'm not lying. Btw I love Mariah and this band❤👍👍
One of the greatest collaborations of all time. I have heard the song hundreds of times and it gives me chills every time. And regardless of what mariah is now, back then, she was an all time superstar voice and beauty
Mariah Carey- "We Belong Together", "Fantasy", "Dream Lover", "I Give My All", "Without You", "Open Arms", "I'll Be There", "Hero", "Anytime You Need A Friend", "Can't Let Go", "Forever", "Love Takes Time", "Vision of Love", "I Don't Wanna Cry", "Emotions", "Can't Let Go", "Make It Happen", "When You Believe", " "Someday", "Breakdown", Butterfly", "Honey", "Heart Breaker", "Don't Forget About Us", "I Still Believe"
In my opinion, there's never been another female voice like Mariah Carey's. Her first several years of producing music was simply phenomenal! Boyz II Men could not have been a better pick to record this song with. This was magic! LOVED your reaction!
In what aspect, how so? Every artist is different, so that can be said about them all. A great singer in the technical aspects, but she rarely made the song cry for me. She emotes well, but I haven't ever been moved to tears by her, in the way some other artists can do for me. Shewas great, but certainly not the greatest. She was heavily influenced by Whitney Houston who remains unmatched.
@@Msboochie2 what makes you say she was influenced by whitney even in mariah early career she doesnt even know who whitney was how come you being influenced on someone you dont even know...and even she said that she doesnt aspire to be the next whitney thats why their way of singing is completely different they just get along together and become good friends because fans always compare them to each other..watch all her interview from her early career until now then you can say that
@@Msboochie2 I’m GENUINELY convinced you just love to hate on Mariah because this is the second comment I’ve seen you downplay her as an artist. I literally just saw you talking shit about her songwriting skills on another video. It’s a bit pathetic tbh. If you don’t like her then stay off videos related to her🤷🏿♀️ Also Whitney is a legend and will always be but saying Mariah was heavily influenced by Whitney (vocally speaking) is a damn lie
@@capinino9069 It’s Trey Lorenz on the live version, for unplugged (?) ,which was played on MTV a lot. Maybe there's another live version I’ve never seen.
Boys 2 Men and Mariah Carey, they both perform flawlessly, all the time, and it doesn't matter if it's live or in a studio. Her unplugged album is fire.
To add...Boyz ii men also co wrote this record. They (Nathan mostly...)had came up with a song with the same concept and actually sing the song over the other (similar melodies) if you really listen to the chorus...youll hear it ("I wont be afraid, I'll be alright of you help me...). Also, the song spent 16 weeks at #1 in '95 and set the record for that until the record was broken by "Old Town Road".
This is such a beautiful , sad song. You are spot on about singers being emotional in the 90s. In fact even singers prior to this decade sang with emotion. Most singers had to sing live for the record companies to give them a contract. They also had to perform live without any added effects. That is not the case with a minority of people in the music industry now.
One of my favorites! It gave me inspiration because my mother passed on Nov. 4th and this was released on the 14th my parent’s anniversary 1995 and stay in the charts for weeks. Yes they were sanging!!!!
A rare & most powerful song that only gets better with age even tho it was quite the phenomenon upon it's release ... It has the ability to transcend time & place & still touch anyone lucky enough to hear it's gospel message of hope ... Both Boyz & MC never better than together on this still blazin' song!! ,🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
Loved your reaction. This song spent 16 weeks atop the Billboard Hot 100 in the United States, becoming the longest-running number-one song in the chart's history at the time, a record held for 23 years. Billboard also ranked it as the ninth best charting single of the 1990s. Mariah is a legend. Her career/achievements are unmatchable. She truly inspired a whole generation of singers. From Beyoncé, Christina Aguilera, Britney Spears, Kelly Clarkson, Alicia Keys, Ariana Grande, Kelly Rowland, Bruno Mars, Pink, Mary J Blige, Brandy, Missy Elliott, Nelly Furtado, Lady Gaga, Kate Perry, Rihanna, Jessica Simpson, Leona Lewis, Sam Smith, Jojo, Jordin Sparks, Justin Bieber and the list goes on. I mean even the Legendary Stevie Wonder. Who said “When people talk about the great influential singers, they talk about Aretha, Whitney and Mariah”. Not to mention having 19 #1 hits on the Billboard hot 100 (Most by any solo artist in history) and being one of the best selling artist of all-time. She is more than just whistle notes. She creates her music. Writes her songs. She has actually Written or co-written most of the songs that has ever appeared on her albums. And is acknowledged by the World Music Awards, as the biggest-selling recording artist of the Millennium (1990-1999). Five-time Grammy Award Winner. She’s just one of the greatest female vocalist of all time. Could you please react to 10 times Mariah Carey forgot she was human?
90s music man!! the best!!I came to this country in 97 and I loved Boyz 2 Men!! man music was sooo different back then!!!I did not speak a lick of English, I was 11 years of age but damn music is universal!! because I could understand every word!!! LOL!! Beautiful song!!
Back in the nineties, artist had to really be able to sing, as there was no autotune. And Mariah (along with Whitney) was definitely one of the great voices of the nineties. And Boyz2Men were definitely a class of their own as a vocal group. This Duett (can you call it that? Collaboration maybe) is definitely one of the treasures/masterpieces of the mid nineties and will have its place in music history.
I like reacting to you and your video's when you react to 'old music' b/c I was born in 1982. Your 'old music' was my 'kid/growing up music.' So watching you react to what 'I' grew up with and really 'Appreciating' it means the world to me. So Thank You!
Featuring the greatest living female and male vocalist, Mariah and Wanya. And that's not a slag against the rest of Boyz 2 Men. They are also incredible, Michael McCary is the bass singer every bass singer aspires to be. I'm one of them.
Other mariah carey songs to check out emotions, vision of love, without you, someday, I'll be there and hero just to name a few. Boyz II men songs to check out end of the road, water runs dry, I'll make love to you, hard to say goodbye to yesterday, motown philly
I am so proud of being able to grow up hearing these songs. A generation of music that will never be replaced. Mariah, is one of my top 5 inspirations. B2M, next to her....
The first chorus ALWAYS makes me cry. I think about my mom immediately and I lose it. Such a beautiful song sung by some of the most beautiful voices ever. Boyz to Men ... play some more please!
Exactly when there wasn’t no auto tune. I will ALWAYS REMEMBER MOMMA When I hear Boyz II Men; that was ALWAYS playing in the car when I was in middle school
Listen to the ISOLATED VOCALS for this song! There’s a video of WANYA SINGING HIS PART and a STRIPPED (REACT TO ALL HER STRIPPED songs) video of MARIAH SINGING HERS😳😳Crazy shit without the extra instrumentation when you can hear them alone💕💕React to all that
Her voice is beautiful. This is perfect example of there voices r so good that they don’t need some big video with all crap in it. Talent this is top line. Thank you for doing this video.😁
You should react to Jamiroquai some songs to get started with are - Virtual insanity, Cosmic girl, Deeper underground, Little L, Feels just like it should, Canned heat, Love foolosophy.
I was just a teen when this came out.... it hits different when you’re older and you’ve started to lose your loved ones... parents, grandparents, friends.... thanks for doing this. I’d forgotten how beautiful this song is.
Alright so low key it's an amazing song. But being alive while it was in it's prime, radio stations played this song into the ground. It was inescapable. Having been at least two decades since then it's nice hearing it again. Also please react to Strawberry's Wake by Dance Gavin Dance.
@Pril When it was played every thirty minutes on every station back when it came out in the nineties it got old and annoying. Hearing it once in a while is fine, but I still remember it being everywhere. Never really got over it. Happened with a lot of hit songs in the nineties to be honest.
FOR THOSE OF US WHO ARE GEN-X WE WERE LUCKY TO HAVE GROWN UP DURING THE 80'S & 90'S WITH SO MUCH GREAT MUSIC OF ALL GENRES. IT SEEMED LIKE THE SONGWRITERS BACK THEN WERE WORKING OVERTIME.
You have to check out "Vision of Love" by Mariah Carey. It was her first studio release and made her a superstar overnight. The first time I heard it I had no idea who she was but knew immediately she was going to be HUGE!
One Of The Greatest Inspirational Songs Ever Made Bro It Spent 16 Weeks At Number 1 on the pop charts it held the record until Lil Nas X broke it with Old Town Road 💯💯
A damn travesty, really. And only because he kept releasing remixes that added to his points count. America in 2019 will go down in history as a time when Trump was continuing to destroy our country, and when Old Town Road broke the record of the most emotion-evoking song with the most talented artists. 🤣
i have always got chills when i listen to this because of my husband who lost 20 years ago when i was 39, and now because i lost my partner in may last year, i always think of them shining down from heaven.
The same time this song came out was when my brother DAVID passed away it came out 2 days before he passed it’s a sad song but it’s also a very beautiful song at the same time
