This band came from my home town of Glasgow,and they are remembered fondly by those of us of a certain age.

This song was written for the soldiers in the Vietnam war. It was a brutal war, fought in the jungle, and the soldiers suffered greatly.

This song has been making me cry for fifty years.

His name was Dean Ford. He passed away at 72 last year. He was Scottish.

First heard this in Nam. It touched me at a lonesome, tumultuous time. Now, hearing it 50 years later, memories of those times in my life flood back. Not a dry eye on this face. Anyone out there who knows what I'm talking about, Welcome Home.

I am almost 50 years old, I have lived through a war and it is the first time that I listen to this song, it made me move to tears; thanks brother.

My grandad was Pat Fairley and he started the Marmalade. He passed away last summer so this was great to see. Thanks!

This is such an underrated song from the Vietnam era . . . I never tire listening to this. "The world is a bad place . . a bad place . . a terrible place to live . . ohhhhh but I don't want to die".

Song was written during the Vietnam War...as a previous commenter made it was an anti-war song. It's about the fear of death and the longing for home. The song became a favorite of the troops. Dean Ford produced a video of him singing this song accompanied by another musician not long before his death. Very poignant....R.I.P. Dean Ford and thank you for giving the world such a wonderful song.

Reflections Of My life is a brilliant song and Marmalade are criminally underrated. Quality never ages. Thank you for checking out one of Scotland's finest bands.

Dean died rather recently but not before he rerecorded this. He still had it! Thumbs up just for doing this song. It's very much reflective of the late 60s attitude and the social changes. For myself, I found it intriguing that it seemed to describe exactly a lot of what was going on with the youth in the US....and this is a Scottish band!

1969 no autotune and when musicians knew their instruments

This song is a good example of what is missing from a lot of today's music. This song has HEART, the missing ingredient from so much of the current Pop scene! You don't have to be musical virtuosos, or use hyper- tech equipment to convey honest human emotion. Some of our greatest music, including The Beatles, and Jimi Hendrix, were recorded on 4 track tape recorders. Now we have 48 tracks, auto tuners, synthesizers and more, but, with few exceptions, the HEART is nowhere to be seen or heard!

I was 18 years old in 1970. This song sounds better each time I hear it. Thank you. God bless you. 💗➕💗

This band brings back a heap of memories. I went to school in north London, my friends and I used to sneak out of school at lunchtime to watch Marmalade practise at a house nearby before they made the big time. It was great to be a teenager in the 60's.

Great choice.... Bad Finger are another fantastic band they have a handful of top hits but one called “ Day after Day( I give my love to you) is my favourite one by them.

One of the reasons this song resonates so much is because it's arranged a lot like the Beatles used to arrange, especially the percussion and the use of the orchestra.

I am 74 years old. I was a young 21 year old when i first heard it while stationed in South Vietnam in 1969. We were all thinking of our loved ones at home and reflecting on our lives. My grandfather died while I was there. I was not allowed to go back to the states for his funeral. All I had was my memories of him. Fast forward to 2022 and i love this song even more. I plan to have the song played at my funeral. Cherish your loved one while they are with you, when they are gone you will only have memories (reflections).

The singer was Dean Ford. He just passed away a few years ago. I remember 1970, and I suspect the song had something to do with the Viet Nam war. Anyway, this is one of those songs that has stayed with me all of my life. It grabs the heart and guts, especially if you were old enough to notice the world back then. :)

As a young teen this was just another song that stood out as a nice one to listen too. It took many years before I really listened n understood the words. Great react. Loved it when you started over. I like that you appreciate the mixing of instruments and how the blended the music. No autotune some in raw mono form. So much went into this era's sounds. And please, as you continue your journey in my music, notice that many singer/writers didn't just work for themselves. Many artists became famous for songs written by another famous writer singer. Linda rondstadt, the monkees, etc. It is gratifying to watch a young person really enjoying my era's great music. Thank you for that

This song is a favorite when I was younger we could not get the soul songs on the radio and it was so different so my sister and I listen to the white singers Tom Jones Etc I did not get to hear songs by popular songs by black artist and being a young black teen we could not share what we listen to! Just joined you as week or so ago. Listened to a about 15 of your reviews. It is so cool to see a young man hearing the music from my youth (I am 60) for the first time and seeing how much it impacts you. It gives me hope, ya know? I know there are others who feel the same way. The variety...everything from Pasty Cline to Nirvana...you listen to it all. You have another trait that people who Listen to music, (with a capital L on purpose). When the lyrics and the melody lock into the vocals, and it is just right...you listen with your eyes closed. So do I. So do a lot of people who love music. I think we do it to try to close out everything but what our ears are delivering, to raise the impact another notch. Here is one for ya that will have you closing your eyes...George MacCrae "Rock Your Baby" from 1974. His voice...I remember hearing it for the first time on the FM stereo station, over a Pioneer SuperTuner and Jenson Speakers, LOL.

I knew the bass player in this band, Graham, his brother in law is my best friend. I have met Graham many times and got good and drunk with him, he's a Sotsman and he's a real nice guy. I haven't seen or heard from him in years now, I'm sure he's still playing though, this song probably.

Dean Ford sang and co-wrote this song. It was very popular with our military in Vietnam. Even they were surprised by the quality of music being released at that time.

A hugely profound and magnificently composed song. It grips me with every listen- I never fail to be filled with emotion when I hear it, and when I see how quickly it all goes past us. The comment about changing the environment around us was completely fresh for me. Good job. When Junior plays his world-class solo, notice how the bass line and his melody intermingle in a gorgeous manner; I never heard that use of 'currents of sound' washing and blending. Such beauty is rare indeed.
