Man, nobody ever does her absolute best stuff. Her first two albums were through and through great. Like the way I do is one of the best songs ever. You should do the album version sometime, I think you'd get into it. Great reaction here guys.
She has so many great songs. Might want to try the Indigo Girls, Jewel, Sarah McLachlan and Tory Amos. All really cool female artists from the late 80's, early 90's.
Indigo Girls are one of my favorite ever. I saw them twice. As an Indie group they played college towns a lot & while in school at UF they came here in 89-90. I've never seen anyone ever even mention them & I've have probably read over a million + comments easily in the last almost 3.5 years. I instantly adore you. 🤣

Greatest road trip artist I know, Her greatest hits album is one masterpiece after another!!! "Somebody Bring Me Some Water", "Come to My Window", "I wanna Come Over", "You can Sleep While I Drive" is actually my fav song of hers. Nice you 2!
Ah the days of going to bars, playing pool, drinking a beer, watching a woman, dancing with her and seeing how it goes while this plays. Definitely a powerful voice. Great choice.
When her first album dropped back in '88, her voice and sound was a refreshing change from the electronic 80s sound (which I love as well, don't get me wrong) - and her songwriting is top notch. Caught her live a couple of times, the second time was an outdoor show in a massive rainstorm, an amazing concert with her rocking out with lightning flashing off in the distance for the last encore. Another great choice you guys - peace and love! ☮
Melissa is so good. One performance that gives me chills is the Janis Joplin tribute, she is bald from chemo but she just kills it. Chills every damn time I watch it.
Etheridge had some early success in her career, but it wasn't until 1993 when she released her fourth album (she released two albums that year I believe), Yes I Am, which featured this song and "Come To My Window" that pushed her into mainstream stardom.

She is very talented performer and songwriter. Very controversial video. You need to google to understand why. Then you watch it again and understand the message. Noticed something today. When your pretty lady wears a light colored shirt with no print or picture, we can see the transparent video better. For me, that’s so much better because I know what’s coming up, in video, music and lyrics. When I can follow that, I like to watch both your faces at certain moments. Certain lyrics, or music instruments and highs/lows, it’s cool to see you reactions immediately. I can tell the moment it clicks by the smile or the body language. It’s very interesting. Just thought I’d mention because the dark clothing with pictures or printing really obscures the video so I can’t tell what made you smile or move. Be the best today. Love you guys!❤️
She can sing with the best. Hard to believe that the subject matter in this was so controversial while today it's no big deal. I won't get into it, but look it up if you wonder.
Something to note is Melissa is gay. Today this is not an issue of course, but she came out publicly in 1993 same year this song came out and it was still pretty risky at that time. She was proud and that gives context to much of her music, especially off of this album. In the video for this song that stud is not the hero, he is the antagonist.

Only so many folk songs you can hear about strong mountain women doing strong mt woman sht while in love. Plus I just don’t like folk music.

I always find it interesting that your partner doesn’t ever show an emotion on a good song . You are grooving and getting into it. Not just this reaction. I get listening objectively but if the music doesn’t move you? Why bother listening?
