While of course I LOVE Thriller, Off the Wall is by FAR my favorite MJ album! I hope they do more-- esp. Don't Stop til You Get Enough and Working Day and Night! Both transport me instantly back to the roller rink!
TRUE! I was too young for Off the Wall and so Thriller was my childhood. But as a musician myself now, Off the Wall was way more musically fruitful than Thriller. But MJ is immaculate in music, period!
Fun fact: MJ used to do a lot of his own background vocals on separate tracks and had it all mixed together for a richer sound to his songs. He was one of the pioneers of doing such a thing. :)
I've never heard this a capella version, but hearing his voice only made me think of his vocals on you can't win from the Wiz. His voice was always truly amazing
Almost every song of Mike has an Acapella version on RU-vid! Most of em are fanmade! With or without backing vocals, you’ll find a lot! Have a few Acapella songs of mj on my channel as well. :)
Alot of his multi tracks were released somewhere, so fans who have some music production skills edit them together. Make Acapella mixes, fan remixes of songs, instrumentals, etc. I've heard ALOT of them and they are really AMAZING!!!! Some of them have unreleased vocals that didn't make the album cut. It's GREAT!!!
these are isolated vocals, not really a capella (in the true sense). Many of MJs songs have the isolated vocal tracks uploaded on yt. In fact there are quite a few multitracks out, which are very interesting too. And there's the full Thriller recording session uploaded (not just the multitracks of the final version, but all the recorded versions, vocals and intrumentals and other noises, it's pretty amazing to listen to. A bit long, but worth teh time.)
Can you say “Goosebumps” when he starts to harmonize OMG! 😍 His voice was so therapeutic in this song when he said, “just enjoy yourself” and “life ain’t so bad at all”! Michael didn’t need music; HE WAS MUSIC! 🥰 Can't miss if you reacted to any song off the "Thriller" album!

Rod Temperton, who wrote this song and a few others for MJ (like Rock With You), once mentioned how dedicated he was in the studio. Even though he was only 20 at the time, Michael took out the time to memorize the lyrics in advance so that he didn't need to read them off paper in the booth. He ended up recording all the main vocals in one night and all the background vocals & harmonies the night after.
Only someone confident in their ability will do something acapella. There are no background instruments to hide mistakes. Obviously, MJ didn't have anything to worry about. Thanks for reacting to something different from the usual requests.
I had MJ's Off the Wall album but I've never heard him sing in Acapella! MJ's voice is amazing! Singing Acapella is difficult to do but he made it sound easy! Shows what a true rare talent he was. Michael's a true definition of a G.O.A.T. Definitely a legend! Yes! Please play more Michael Jackson! Love his music! I love Smooth Criminal or anything else!

the rhythm and staccato of his voice always get me when you hear him without music. You understand what he meant when he says the music moves through him. He was a human instrument

Bought this 8-track back in 79 when he went solo. I was in high school, all of it is good. People dont know Michael sang backup also, all of it. He recorded each segment and blended it all together...genius.
I was 14 years old when off the wall album came out. I’d always loved the Jacksons , seeing them on Soul Train but this album showed Michael at a whole new level of maturity. I was floored by this album. Disco was big at that time and this was definitely Not Disco. Pure R&B. Loved Michael RIP. Glad these young men are being exposed to real talent. Perfect pitch with No dubbing by Electronica infusion. Now off the wall is also pre plastic face surgeries of Michael when he was really beautiful.

Genius! I have loved MJ since I was 12. Studied him and his family for most my life. He’s miraculously talented! Off the wall is such a special album. He recorded this right after ‘The Wiz’.
