Great reaction. Yes this is beautiful and it really does show just how good their vocals are and what great technique Su-metal has. You already saw the live version of 'Monochrome' before you watched this, so you can compare the two versions. You watched the official video for 'The One' a couple of months ago - there are a couple of piano versions for that as well ... they did an 'unfinished' version on The First Take shortly after this one (Momometal's first video as an official member). It is equally beautiful again of course, but it is just the first verse. Another piano version of that song was from 2021 and it was how they announced they would be going on a hiatus - look for 'The One - Stairway to Living Legend'. Another song you didn't react to yet with two versions is one of Su-metal's solo songs 'Akatsuki'. I would suggest you do the full version first (live at Budokan Black Night from march 2014 is a big favourite among the fans) and follow that up with the 'unfinished' (piano) version live at Legend 1997 from December 2013, Su-metal's 16th birthday concert.
If you like the stripped back versions, you might want to check out Akatsuki (unfinished ver.) which is similar to this in that it's just a piano and some strings, and then maybe check out the finished version where it gets the full Babymetal treatment.
Thanks again from Japan 有難う💛。In this first take version, the girls proved that they can do anything. They have forced people to headbang with their heavy music and sharp choreo. Now they can depict various images by just singing and project them into the listeners' brain to move people emotionally. Thank you BABYMETAL. And thank you Koba, the BM producer, for your serendipity. Some 14 years ago, you certainly discovered something amazing and sacred for us. Speaking of the three figures in white hood adding some background vocals, they are homage to BM's girlhood with original three girls.
I don't watch all videos from the first take. But in those I've watched, all artists were standing in front of microphone preparing themselves for recording. Babymetal was different. The music started, then they walked towards to the mics. So much confidence!
Great reaction. Don't worry, stunned silence is better than appaluse when it come to this performance. And kudos for restarting the song. When the original Monochrome dropped, I thought straight away that the song could work just as well in a stripped-down piano/accoustic guitar/voice arrangement and daydreamed about what it would sound like, but never considered it would ever happen. So when the first take version of Monochrome came out, I felt like I had willed it into existence lol. We also got a version of 'The One', which would have been better if we hadn't already heard it, but we got Momo on it, so it was cool. I'm still waiting for a full symphonic version of Divine Attack.
Obviously Su-metal/Suzuka's voice is the center of Babymetal, where everything else hinges on. In some sense, she is the eye of the storm, or the center of the union, which has many layers. I really enjoy her singing, it's a huge part of why I'm a Babymetal fan. And I've seen Babymetal live, they delivery almost everything at the top level every time. Some venues are harder to get the audio right than others, etc. and outside at a festival is not ideal or maybe Suzuka/Su-metal is just sick, a kind of famous concert among fans is Moscow 2020 (so the tour, before the Ukraine war, pandemic already happening in Europe, some parts of Europe already in lockdown, etc. even countries they had performed only days before). Last day of the tour, you can hear and see how she was weak and still performed. Anyway... Being at a live show, with a piano-like section and the big sound system, hearing her voice around me, was a special experience. 🙂
Nice one, thanks! Su-metal's voice is so special that they can use it in very different ways. She's also very good at conveying the emotions. And it's always amazing! As said, there is an "unfinished version" of their song "Akatsuki" and also an acoustic version of "The ONE" called "The One - Stairway to Living Legend". Note: if you do "Akatsuki" (unfinished version) please check the "regular" version as well to compare them (ideally from Budokan 2014 Black Night because the two versions were very close in time). Same song, totally different vibe. 🤘🦊
This was beautiful, (some of 'The One' say the track was chosen for this as a final farewell to YuiMetal!, (That's why there were 3 white hooded figures!)) 💜
