There is no point in comparing Angelina to other child singers. Angelina is a very wise and mature person who fully understands the human condition even though she may not yet have the experiences we think are needed to understand life. Angelina understands feelings and emotions very well. Angelina does not sing to show off, she sings to tell the story.
The first time the world heard Angelina sing. The world has waited for every new song she releases ever since. To say she is special doesn't go close to describing the effect she has on us every time she sings.
I believe Angelina is blessed with great wisdom and empathy even at a very young age. I'm a 73 year old widower and a few of her original songs actually helped transform my life after the loss of my wife. Her messages of kindness, compassion and self affirmation in her original music gave allowed me to live my remaining years with zest and meaning. I am not alone in feeling this, as many of her fans have had their hearts touched similarly. This is a sign of a great artist. She is a great interpreter and storyteller in the countless songs, both original and covers, she has put up online. Angelina is one of the most emotionally expressive singers I gave ever heard. Be prepared to shed a few tears along the journey of her career.❤
For everyone who thinks "why does a 7 year old girl sing a song like that??? " Here is a quote from Angelina (7y) from an interview with TV2 after her Audions NTG 2014. "The reason I chose this song is completely random. I love jazz, but" Gloomy Sunday "was random. It was a night I could not sleep and my mother was stressed that I was awake long after midnight. Then I borrowed my mom's iPad where I wanted to listen to jazz on RU-vid before I fell asleep. Then came a picture of a beautiful lady screaming at the sky and with her eyes closed. I heard the song "Glommy Sunday" that night and then I had to hear it every day. I love the melody. I understood well what the text was about because I know English well. Every time I sang it I felt something special about it, it's hard to explain in words. When I sang it for mom, she said that this song is nice, but that it was incredibly sad song. " 👣💯 *AJ* 💯👣
Good day Kevin. Thank you so much for the shout out and recognition for the things I provided you. It really was not necessary as it is a pleasure to educate new reactors on Angelina and other young artists. We have a bit in common as well as you mentioned you are a nurse and I spent my career in the medical field. Would be great to chat some time! I know you received comments regarding young singers like Angelina understanding the lyrics and content of songs they are singing. Here is my take on what is special about Angelina in this regard, based on things I have heard over the past 6 years I have followed her. At a young age, Angelina may not have experienced the life events of certain songs, but she understands them by channeling emotions based on her own experiences. For example, if it is a song about loss of romantic love, we know she has not experienced that, but she has experienced great love in her family with grandparents and parents, her uncle and cousins and sister. She understands what it would be like if she lost her mom or her grandmother for example. Although it is not romantic love, she understands and emotes the feeling of loss of a loved one. She may also have experienced it in her family where her mom and dad had a falling out, and she has experienced that emotion. Angelina is a prodigy and some think a genius, as more than just singing a song, she becomes the song , and takes you for the ride. I think her fan base is so devoted not because she just has a great voice, but it is because of the way she makes everybody feel. Part of her genius Is that she is involved in arranging many songs that she performs, even at a young age. That reflects and understanding of the emotion she is going to project because instruments also play a role, accompanying the voice. I'm looking forward to your journey as it is always so enjoyable to watch someone else experience what I did over the past few years. It doesn't take long to get hooked! Peace and love.

Angelina at age 7 had already been taken “around the world”. She had seen and experienced far more of the world than most of us will ever see in a lifetime! There is video of her visiting the USA at age 4! Her grandfather used to take her with him to the streets to give food to the homeless. At age 6, her grandmother took her to Persia. And it was there that she met the homeless girl to whom she gave her shoes. What 6 year old kid does that? One with amazing empathy for others. Angelina. Now, move on past this concept that “she doesn’t know what she’s singing”. She does. Recognize that you are witnessing a musical genius. Stop doubting, start believing that you are listening to perhaps the best singer you will ever hear, and enjoy the journey!
Yes. That was her mother backstage watching the monitor. I think she was wiping the tears away after just realizing she had lost her daughter to the world.
As you continue on your AJ journey you will come to realize that, from the very beginning, Angelina has had the ability to inhabit any song that she sings. STILL, and you said so yourself, Angelina has to be recognized as an exception to that rule. Kevin, you are certainly not alone, amongst other reactors and most of the public, with your issues and concerns about a child singer. I am thrilled you are taking this journey into Angelina's catalog. A surprise awaits you with every performance. I learned of Angelina 4.5 years ago, at the start of the pandemic. I thank you, as a nurse, for all you do. I thank all the angels who educated me about Angelina and now I pay that forward. Ron Raskind is my best friend on RU-vid and he was the one to begin a campaign, suggesting reaction channels support the featured artist. Most viewers have no idea how to help their favorite artists or reaction channel or any content creator on RU-vid. A little education can go a long way. Subscribing to the channel, watching each video in its entirety, clicking the thumbs up (Like button) and posting a comment, all help the channel.
I am just speculating but somehow Angelina is able to associate her personal experiences with the meaning that is in the song she is singing and tell the story through song as if she had experienced and wrote the original. She has a special connection with her family and her Angels who she refers to as her second family and can draw on that energetically and this comes through in her music. I have never seen wisdom like Angelina displays at such a young age or even any age in many. Her E.P. will never cease to impress me as it was completed at 16 and these lyrics should not be coming out of a 16yo. Even though there are co-writers on most of her songs I am sure you will see that they all have her "stamp" on them and that they come from the same place. If you want to get to know her a little, (and get a little cheat look ahead) I would recommend a short documentary her Mom made at her Las Vegas concert this year called "10 Years in the Making". It is narrated by Angelina and you will get a glimpse into what she is made of. If/when you do this listen to the words she uses and how often she uses them and then keep in mind you are listening to an 18yo that has sung for dignitaries, heads of state, Nobel Prize presentations, opened for Quincy Jones 85th birthday party at O2 arena, etc. I have never seen anyone remotely like her. She can bring you peace, she drives creativity, she can change peoples lives. Looking forward to more as it will be an interesting journey.

Enjoyed both your reactions to Angelina, Angelina has implored us all to "Be kind to one another" several times in various concerts the past few years, and while I find it discouraging that some fans leave rude and insulting comments towards reactors they perceive as critical of Angelina. I found Angelina 1 1/2 years ago and life has changed ever since. She has that affect on people. Love and music embodied. She often brings grown adults - like some of the judges here - to tears. Not out of sadness though. It's something approaching awe/gratitude, like that feeling when you're witnessing an incredibly beautiful sunset. And THIS performance usually gets me going since I know it was essentially "the beginning" of this incredible artist coming to public awareness for the first time. Liked and subscribed 😇
@@SteveAckerman-ly3qg Yep. Her concert in LA pretty much removed any doubt that she is most likely the best female singer to come along in the modern era. Pre recording who knows what Agustus Cesar may have heard, human history is vast but in the 20th century and the start of the 21st she has it in the bag in my mind.
I felt the same at first about a child knowing the pains of life. But then I thought, as a child, I knew what sad is. I also got possessive and mad when I didn’t get what I wanted. These emotions are not confined to adults. Later you will see (Back to Black for example) that her mother prohibited her from the more adult themed songs, as well as getting her into the “ music business” too soon. 😊
So nice to see you react to our AJ and understand her at the emotional level. I think AJ is both an old soul and an empath. She has the ability to tap into the emotional intent of a song and then projects it back to you, making you feel the song as well. Much ❤️!
Great reaction, thank you Kevin. This was the first time I heard this little fairy sing, 10 years ago and I've been hooked ever since. In all these years I have listened to she thousands of times in hundreds of splendid interpretations and yet every time I see this first performance of hers at the age of 7, it makes me move again, like the first time, with that wonderful concentration of humility, simplicity, candor, sympathy and talent. Angelina's musical vision transcends the ordinary and she always manages to give an interpretive reading that makes us better understand and love the songs, in any age she is. This gorgeous girl has a musical knowledge and analytical ability that is beyond my comprehension. 💛🧡❤

I think you are already appreciating that Angelina is not like any other "child singer"... she never was really: she not only understands songs you might think beyond her but she has an absolutely unmatched ability to convey the meaning and emotion of a song... Angelina Jordan ASTAR (the name says it all), this young norwegian genius (now 18 y old) is imo the best singer on the planet! I am 71 y old and have never heard a singer like her in my whole life. I'm not sure Angelina really did understand the meaning of the song, which is very dark, but she definitely picked up on the atmosphere and emotion of it. That is the extraordinary thing about her. She has this phenomenal ability to empathise at a level of emotion, even adult emotion, while not necessarily understanding fully the content of the words. That's why I asked that you be sure to watch the final Summertime performance that includes the announcement of the winner of the show. There are all these much taller and much older people and then there is little tiny and barefoot Angelina with her wild thick mane of black hair. She is just precious at this age. Kevin, in general I'd like to make 2 points. The first one concerns 'does Angelina know and understand what she's singing'? Yes, she does but it deserves a clearer explanation. Angelina is all about love and when she looks at the lyrics of any song she looks to find the message of love in the song. Therefore, when you listen to her sing so soulfully she is identifying with the message of love and the particular story line will, in most cases , be something it would be impossible for her comprehend. So the feeling she passes onto us with her voice is the feeling of love and that is very believable because we can feel it. Note: If lyrics are totally inappropriate for her to sing but yet she wants to sing the song, Angelina and her team (her family) will make several changes to them so she can sing it. In the case of 'Gloomy Sunday', a song explaining the horrors of War that some European people suffered through, the subject of suicide was mentioned and it was so bad that the song was not allowed to be played on the airways in particular Countries. Angelina had listened to the song many, many times sung by Billie Holiday and she fell in love with the song and Billie at the same time so that's why she wanted to sing it as her audition on Norway's Got Talent. The second point is about receiving off color commentary from some not very nice people. The Angelina fan base (her 'angels') is extraordinary and I'm sure you can acknowledge that already. Please immediately delete those comments in bad taste and don't bring the issue up during your video's, because what is happening is you are feeding those people recognition and they thrive on that and they will keep coming back. As soon as they realize their comments never show up in your comment section they will stop wasting their time sending them to you. They are just troublemakers.

Really, isn't that how we all process emotions. When you are empathetic to one of your patients you don't have to have experienced the same circumstance that they are in to feel deeply for them, you imagine how you would feel in their place. The same with their family. How would you feel if your wife had this condition, or your child. I believe Angelina's super power is empathy, well that and an IQ probably much higher than mine. I may in the future be blunt if you say something I really disagree with but I will not be intentionally rude. I am sure she had a very rudimentary understanding of the song (This is the Hungarian Suicide Song), but her mom wouldn’t let her release songs about suicide after this. This young lady is a true prodigy who has a heart of gold. She evokes emotion from many of her followers, and for me, no performers has ever done that to me before. I have seen her live 4 times and can’t wait to see her again. She is as sweet and humble in person as she seems on her videos. Enjoy the ride as there are several hundred videos from many performances and they are all gems.

If she didn’t understand the meaning of the songs, she could not emote in the manner she does. Furthermore, once you learn that she gave her shoes to another little girl who was less fortunate than herself at 6 years old, and is the reason she does not wear shoes as that little girl said she would pray for Angelina’s success to be a superstar.

(curent 18 Years old ). She is an elegant artist for the big occasions. Which artist has sung for the Nobel Peace Prize twice, and she sings FIFA's official song before the upcoming World Cup. She has sung for 40,000 in concert with Nora Jones. She has helped to collect 21 million for children in need. Performed for many countries' heads of state on many big occasions. Concert in Las Vegas, with a number of other live concerts. Signed record deal with "Republic Records" at only 14 years old.
The reason the last judge asked about the meaning of the song is because there is a belief that it was about suicide, or at least, suicidal ideation. It was known as the "Hungarian Suicide Song" (thanks Wikipedia). So, she did in fact miss that part of it, which is OK. Yeah, if you listen to it, "I Put a Spell on You" is a very date-rapey. Glad she missed that, but the emotion she dredges up is amazing. She says she goes into her own world when she sings. She has made changes to more adult lyrics in later songs.

@@charliemiller5831 Well, you are correct about her being a "miracle girl". And you are correct in assuming that she has had help in helping to protect her voice. But she has never had a traditional vocal coach as most singers do.
Angie always seemed to have had an incredible ear for voices, allowing her to easily replicate everything down to the emotions. Even if she didnt understood the context completely.

You may still be correct but by the time she was 10 or 11 her emotional understanding is obvious as extremely precious so who can really say when it began? Most, however, want to hear what you really think (even if you're wrong). And even if they didn't, you owe it to yourself to stay genuine and shoot straight.

She released a book about this heartfelt incident meeting an orphan poor girl and gave her the shoes 👟 when she was only six And a funny fact when she was interviewed at the show the view a year later.. I'm so glad you're sticking with a "chronological approach" - at least for a while. Not only do I count her four performances on NGT as being among her most impressive (considering her age and the circumstances under which they were delivered), I think they are much more representative of "what she's all about" than "I Put a Spell on You". Or, to be more precise, I would say that you can't really interpret IPASOY properly without having at least some of the context provided by her performances over the prior 12 to 16 months. (After her run on NGT, I would highly recommend checking out at least "What a Difference a Day Makes" on _Allsang på Grensen_ [Sing-Along on the Border], "Fly Me to the Moon" on _The View_ , and "I'll Be There" on _Svenska Hjältar_ [Swedish Heroes], three televised performances she did before turning 9.) And then I would say that you can't really fully appreciate her most recent work (last few years) without seeing what she was doing at 10, 11, and 12. I'm talking primarily about her covers in that time period, but as others have mentioned, she started releasing her own original songs then, too: competely rewritten lyrics to Amy Winehouse's "Back to Black" at 10, her own "Oslo" and "What Is Life" at 11 (both with words and music by her alone), and her "Shield" at 12 (written with a team of professional songwriters).
