YESS defenitely check out ashe, she's amazing. This song is about a really tough -toxic- relatonship she gad to go through. They got divorced, hence the lyric change from 'you can think that you're in love, when you're really just in pain' to 'just engaged' (she did a video for genius talking about it). Ashe's music is beautiful and very unique. and her vocals are IMMACULATE. I recommend her last song and music video she released a couple of months ago, "save myself", it's one of my favorites from her.
this is a true story about her and her ex husband that she divorced this is her first song that blew up her career and then she made another song save myself which is kind of a part 1 to this song but moral of the story came out before save myself. i love both of them and ashes voice is amazing and then nialls feature in this, their voices are beautiful together !
You should listen to his album 'flicker', I think that if you listened to that you would change your mind about how you think he struggled or that he'd never done that kinda thing in this song.

I'm a more recent fan to the boys too, and I got really into the fandom and all of their music since the beginning of quarantine in March or April and then you starting posting all these 1d videos. Obviously I had heard of the boys and I had a few of harry's and niall's songs on my phone but I wasn't really a fan. I was only 8 when they got together and my mom didn't listen to pop and I didn't really start exploring music until after the hiatus so yeah. But I heard the original version of this song first and then got excited that she was releasing it again with Niall because it was my first new song that any of the boys had released since I joined so this song has a special place in my heart tbh.

The original second verse is different and Niall rewrote it, with Ashe 1000% on board, cuz vocally he couldn't get it to work. Also, Niall is also my favorite. Haha
