It took me a while to realize the reason Regina stopped being friends with Janis was because she thought Janis told her she was lesbian but she told her she was Lebanese 😂😂
honestly mrs george is quite responsible bc the fact she said that she’d rather them drink in the house than at a party which is amazing because at least she’s making sure they are in a controlled environment and she can keep an eye on them
@@BillyBinges definitely not okay, lol, but come on, you know damn well they’re gonna drink anyway, even if she forbade it 😂 so better to do it with adult supervision. Not at all would be ideal but it’s not likely. Teenagers go a long way to get ahold of alcohol. I didn’t but ya know.
@Ks-101where i’m from it’s pretty normal for teens to have their first drinks at home (low % alcohol like beer is legal from age 16 here) so the parents can be around and check how you respond to it, since some people react badly to alcohol and might not know it.
@@Anna_96 Same with where i am from. Of course we don’t let young people drink till they drop, but almost everyone has tasted alcohol by the age of 13. It’s normal to taste as bit of your parents wine, beer or a spritzer. People need to stop villainizing the act of tasting alcohol, but instead educate children on proper alcohol consumption. But hey, just my opinion
Personally i see Janice as a vilain too she used a girl who didn't have high school experience to get revenge and once Kady becomes what she (Janice)wanted to become she pretend it's all Kady fault
@@JustJoshLTRB I think his point still stands lol. 7 years older and playing her mother is such a Hollywood thing to do 😆 it reminds me of Schitt’s creek.
BOY: "...so that man could fight dinosaurs..." Billy: "that's hilarious, that's hilarious" Boy: "...and homosexuals" Billy: "WHAT? WHAT?" Same Billy same!
Pettiest thing... In Highschool this girl who sat next to me would always cheat off my math tests by copying down my answers (I usually got good grades). One test, I wrote all wrong answers, but so they only needed like one more number to be correct, and kept track on scratch-paper which answer needed what change. So in the last minute of the test I changed every answer on my test to what it was supposed to be and she got nothing right. Could I have just told her not to copy off me or hidden my sheet from her better? Sure, but why do that?
the real gag is that when Janice said at the end that she was Lebanese she was annoyed. She probably said that to Regina when they were younger and Regina thought Janice said she was lesbian :P
That's exactly what happened. Regina has never been that smart (smarter than Karen but that's really nothing to be proud of), probably didn't know what "LEBANESE" was and instead thought Janice meant "LESBIAN" and ran with it and Janice just didn't care enough to correct her. They did the same joke on Glee when Santana corrected Brittany and said she was Hispanic before she realized Lebanese was supposed to be Lesbian.
The whole point of mean girls is basically to say every girl can be a mean girl. Janice was just like Regina she just didn't have the power and influence Regina had.
I don't think she was like Regina though. The only person Janice made of fun and disliked was Regina. But Regina talked behind everyones back even her closest friends but Janice was always loyal to Damien
@@Belladonna.x yeah I see your point Cady only started plotting on Regina and the plastics because Janice told her too. But I don't think Janice was trying to manipulate Cady she didn't lie or coerce her she just asked her and Cady listened
This movie had some of the most iconic lines out of any movie I've ever seen. "Four for you Glen Coco! You go Glen Coco!" "And none for Gretchen Wieners, bye!"
Just to clarify, the vietnamese girl did not in fact say "Nigga, please." (Afrolatina here.) it was a translation error never fixed, she actually said "Oh please," or "Girl please," Netflix actually removed the closed captions entirely I believe because of an outrage from watchers. The girls actually don't even speak proper vietnamese at that. Their names are also Korean. I love this movie but the Asian representation is tragically problematic.
Im Vietnamese and yes I can confirm what she said ( "mày") does not translate to the n-word lol. Its more of like a derogatory way to adress someone, but can also be used between friends. It confused me why they translated it to the n-word :D like why ??? I could semi understand what they were talking ab tho, but the accents are not it
I love that this whole movie is written as a satire and it’s basically making fun of high school and what it means to be a girl in high school but like an extreme way and Tina Fey is the smartest writer ever
I mean Tina Fey is funny but lets acknowledge she makes problematic choices. Why does everything she work on have some racial humor. Sometimes really problematically, like with the them making the captions of the asian women include the N word. She definitely did not actually say that. I think there are quite a few writers who create smarter content without always relying on some off color jokes to make her seem edgy.
Can we all just take a moment to realize how awesome the extras are in this movie. Dude took an actual radio to the face with a smile on his face. No wires. No stunt doubles. Oscar worthy performance.
I’ll never forget going to see Mean Girls in the theaters. One of my best friends basically forced me to go see it as I had 0 interest in it. Thus, I walked into the theater with _crazy low_ expectations. And then *HOLY SHIT* did it blow me away!! This movie is just soooo goddamn funny! It _very_ quickly rocketed it’s way up to one of my all-time favorite movies!!
I think it has maybe replaced “Heathers” as the bratty teen cult classic! Still just as good now as 20 years ago, I can’t believe it’s been that long 🤯
The weirdest thing I did for my friend, was probably when we were 15-16 and she broke up with her boyfriend. He still called her a lot after and one afternoon my friend wasn't having it and asked me to take the call, but before that we've had the "amazing" idea of me lowering my voice and pretending to be the new boyfriend. Surprisingly it worked and he bought it so well we even argued while my friend was silently laughing in the background. The plot twist is that now we're 29 and they are living their best married life together but even after both of us telling him the truth he still refuses to believe it was actually me who he talked with that day.
He will never believe it wasn’t a guy. He made his mind up years ago 😂 because I have to be honest and say I wouldn’t believe it either lol. But it wouldn’t matter especially if we happily married now. That is hilarious tho
This movie always made me laugh so hard at "sexually active band geeks" cuz.... accurate lmfao. Band kids and theater nerds get a LOT of unsupervised time together lmaooo
I have never heard truer words 😆 I once saw a tiktok that being a theater kid you basically get the same high school experience of popular kids without the popularity. Wild parties, lots of friends, lots of drama, romance, and a sex and alcohol wasn't uncommon 🤣
As a native Chicagoan and south sider, I love that this is set up in the upper class northern suburb of Evanston and when the girls are going nuts, he's like, "Oh hell no. I did NOT leave the south side for this!" 🤣
I love this movie so much! The end where it shows the plastics being good and being happy makes me so happy! Its nice to see what they do after realizing being mean is not cool and they finally stop! Its refreshing to see :)
Fav Lindsay Lohan movies: freaky friday, the parent trap, life size, get a clue, just my luck, confessions of a teenage drama Queen, and of course mean girls lol. She was that bitch when we were growing up. So talented.
Would you consider the Lindsay Lohan version of The Parent Trap to be better than the Hayley Mills version? I've seen the start of both and they seemed...okay...
In the year 2021, its soooo weird to hear "retarded" thrown around so easily but back then it was unfortunately said without any thought. I cringe every time I hear it in a movie! But Mean Girls is so insanely quotable and an absolute classic. So well written. So many people my age quote this movie constantly in their every day life 😂
@@the_lifted_stache3640 i cringe when i see people who think that "humor" is an excuse to be inconsiderate and callous towards other people. just because you need to go back to kindergarten to learn basic social skills doesn't mean that people who have issue with your inability to act decent are the problem. the common denominator is you
@@abbiereynolds8016 if you use this as an excuse to use slurs, we might as well say that torturing kittens or kids being bullied at school is okay now because some people find animals in pain amusing and bullies usually employ making fun of someone as a weapon to humiliate them. "humor is subjective" after all
Ex’s are off limits.. idc how long we dated or how long we’ve been broken up, more than likely it’s going to put a strain on the friendship(s).. that’s not even including possible terrible breakups
Plus the fact that usually they are an ex for a reason and a lot of the time the reason is not positive. You dont want your friend to go through that drama and you also be pulled back in
The “made out with a hot dog” part doesn’t make much sense because they had to change it for ratings reasons. The original line involved a frozen hot dog and...some self-love 🤣
Pettiest thing I've done for a friend: her, me, and the guy she liked worked at target, and he just pretended to like her as a joke, so they assign us a section to organize and stock and when she told me that it was on my day off, I was just there to hang out, so I went to his section and I ran through and messed up all his shit and he got a write up.
Is it just me or when Reginas moms said 'if youre going to drink id rather you do it in the house'.... that made me think she was actually a GOOD mom? Because alot of people laugh and roll their eyes and think she is being a bad mom and trying to fit in.... but in my opinion she is being good and responsible. Because she knows if they dont drink here they will go elsewhere and do it... so she would rather them stay here in her house where she knows they will be safe?... she isnt encouraging it... she just knows it will happen no matter what so she wants to keep them safe? Am i the only one who thought this?
That's actually true! Back in high school I have friends with cool moms who allowed us to drink at home. As they said, it's gonna happen anyway. So even though we drink until we get shitfaced, it was always in someone's house and supervised. Kept us out of trouble and prepared us in a hell lot of social situations in university. And we live in an Asian country so yeah it's not usually the case esp for girls
there's used to be a mall store called 579 and all their clothes were sizes 5, 7, or 9 so that's why when Regina couldn't fit the size 5 dress at 135, the sales lady said try Sears. 😬
The nice thing about 5-7-9 was that many girls wore that size range at the time, so it was all bought out in other stores. Plus, the quality was great.
Alternative Character Interpretation: -A fairly popular belief with fans is that back when Janis and Regina were friends, Janis was the queen bee and Regina was the innocent friend (like Cady) who was slowly evolving. Notably when Cady lies and says that there's nothing about Janis in the Burn Book, Janis seems annoyed (perhaps narcissism that the girls aren't even talking about her full stop?) - and at times Janis seems just as bitchy as Regina and is more of a Dirty Coward to boot. -Regina herself appears to care for the other Plastics *in her own twisted way.* When Jason is two-timing Gretchen, she gets revenge. She gives Cady a makeover and compliments her appearance. And she seems genuinely hurt when her friends turn against her - especially when she finds out everything Cady did to her. How much of these Pet the Dog moments are genuine or for a cheap narcissistic laugh...or both? -A popular interpretation of Regina is that she's lesbian or bisexual and is projecting against Janis due to internalized homophobia. -A lot of people see the girl whose apology is "I don't hate you because you're fat. You're fat because I hate you" as giving a Backhanded Apology, but is she? What she said could well be a more sincere apology as in, she is meaning that the other girl has got into comfort eating in excess because of her horrible bullying, which she is now horrified by.
Out of this entire commentary, I laughed the hardest when you said you hate math questions with words. You meant every bit of that statement. Billy, you're hilarious.
@@ShaiLai yeah…they were once involved with them and unless you want to keep everything about your relationship a complete secret, I mean marriage and hardships, I suggest you ask cause no one wants to hear about the new relationship of someone they fell out with

I...love that Billy said "Oh, God" when the rap came up. He was already over it. Little did he know that was gonna be his favorite part and character lol
Don't be ashamed to watch a "chick flick", I'm a guy and some of them are pretty good when done well. I mean "good" in the sense that they appeal to a wider audience than just one particular demographic. Mean Girls is one such movie. But my favorite is probably "Time Traveler's Wife".
I’m not ashamed at all. I love this journey. I just get the small minority of men that ask me all the time why I do the movies I do. They are the ones with shame lol I been picking movies that’s been getting the most upvotes in comments
LOL I remember when me and my sister got the master bedroom because it was bigger and we could fit more of our stuff in there lmfao XD parents took our old room it was hilarious.
One of my childhood friends kinda did that. She used to share with her little sister, but when she got older she got her parents room and they moved into the livingroom.
High School Girls have a WHOLE set of rules and guidelines. Us older women who have experienced high school get it. Wow, I am actually getting flash backs to my 'so called-friends' who did me wrong in school. Girls in high school are the worst!
This movie is one of my favorites. When I was in highschool there was a teacher who kept a copy of this movie in his room. Whenever a teacher had an emergency substitute and there wasnt a lesson plan prepared we would ask if we could go and get that movie from his room. If the substitute was cool and let us we got to watch this movie for the whole class period. While I was still in highschool that teacher was hit while jogging and died so this movie became a way we remembered him. its always gonna have a special place in my heart because of that. Even without that though its such a hilariously written movie, Tina Fey really gets comedy.
Thank you! Mr. D is still celebrated and loved around here. They named the football field after him because he used to coach ❤️ the school bussed us all for his funeral we all miss him terribly but I think he’d be proud of the way we supported each other after.
Pettiest thing I have ever done... Backstory: I was born and raised in a Spanish-speaking Latin American country, but I have West Indian ancestry, so my 1st language is actually English. Anyway, in 2nd grade there was this girl that would always copy off me in English class. One day, we had a Spelling quiz and I wrote down all the words incorrectly on purpose, knowing she was copying me, and corrected them last minute before turning the quiz in. The teacher graded it on the spot. I got what's equivalent to an A, she an F. 😂😂😂😂😂😂
In this minute 28:00 she never said the n-word ( or anything close to that ), they don't even have that word in the vietnamese vocabulary, the roterist just putted this word there as a shock factor, and basically set them up... just clarifying, sorry if something is wrong, my english sucks
All ex's are off limits. Doesn't matter the amount of time dated or how it ended. Only with your friends blessing. However, thats usually bullshit, so still off limits. When they break up, WE ALL BREAK UP Kevin G is free game
@@BillyBinges also Tine Fey, the teacher with the bra, is also the creator of the move. Home girl has been getting heat for years for her having an asian girl say the n word
Even if they dated for 1 month and the relationship was horrible and your Friend actually has a real connection with the dude... u telling me you're gonna get in the way of your friends happiness because of pettiness? "All ex's are off limits"... ummm no 🤣
The pettiest... when I was a freshman in college one of our good friends went out of town so there were 2 of us that were watering place and just making sure everything was ok at his house. Well, while he was out of town we found out that he was cheating on one of our other friends... so we put stuff around his house so that the new girl he was screwing would get angry. LOL hiding women's underwear, spraying the bed with perfume, etc. LOL Needless to say he was pissed, and we weren't asked to help anymore, lol.
@@BillyBinges Glad you liked it. HAHA! I have so many dating horror stories, some are mine, others are my friends. Let's just say that in high school and college my type was toxic, emotionally unavailable, and musicians. Thankfully I'm 33 and would rather be single forever than date anyone I dated from 2001-2010/11. I don't have time or energy to raise these overgrown children.. 🤣🤦🏻♀️
"Is dating a friend's ex off-limits?" Depends on the friend, really. For some women, yes. For others, no. Some, you check with your friend before you start dating their ex, and I'm in that camp, because it could make things awkward for them to have their ex around when they spend time with you
Definitely agree. In my friend group, we don't date eachothers exes unless we take it up with our friend, and have a talk to know if it's ok. Of course, it depends on the girl herself, but most of the time, it's safer to ask.
#bingers NERVE!! Please, please, watch Nerve (2016 - Emma Roberts, Dave Franco). The movie is one of my all-time favorites; it’s criminally underrated.
With me and my friends; exs are to be discussed. We accept feeling and emotions happen, we just need to communicate them to the female before the male. Because if she isn't okay with it, then it's off limits. We also have this rule because we have dated bad guys, I actually became bffs with a girl my ex cheated on me with. Basically it's just double checking. Pettiest thing I have done for my friend, tell her ex I have more influence over her than he could dream of having; if he continued to mess with her I was taking it as a challenge and I would make sure he would never have her. I went there and told him if I wanted to manipulate her to my will, I could and would do it, if it meant protecting her from him. She was there when I told him that, I later held her in my arms as she balled and apologized for me looking like a bad person. I told her, she was family, I would become a dictator to protect what I love and care for if needed, I would cross any line to protect my family.
the best fucking joke of this movie is that Regina thinks Janis is lesbian because she couldnt understand the difference between Lebanese and Lesbian....so when Janis told her she was Lebanese like she did to Kevin at the end, Regina mistook it thinking she was lesbian...LOL
So Mean Girls was actually based off of an 80's movie called Heathers. And if you think Mean Girls was a trip, Billy there's nothing to prepare you for Heathers. #bingers
@@BillyBinges I'm warning you now that it is wild! But a cult classic, and a personal favorite of mine. There's even a fan theory that Janice from Mean Girls is the love child of Veronica and JD (two characters from Heathers), which is how it's all connected.
@@promisemochi I think it's more based off the musical portrayal of the characters, but the key points still hold up with the movie timelines too. Heathers takes place in 1989, and Mean Girls is set in 2004 which is 15 years later (Janis is supposed to be 15 going on 16 in the movie, which is why Damien always drives). The University of Chicago is considered an ivy league school, which was Veronica's whole thing, so it's plausible she went there instead of Harvard. And UofC is only 40 mins away from Evanston, Illinois which is where Mean Girls is set. There's other, more coincidental points too, like how the same actress played both Veronica and Janis in the original stage versions, but I digress lol.
I don’t know if I’m the only one, but heathers scared me so bad that I hated everything about it lmao and everyone else says it’s one of the best movies of all time. Am I the only one?!
