This and Dancing On My Own ( amazing version btw) were after Avi and before Matt. There is always something fresh and fun in their videos. This one stayed true to 4 part harmony. They all did body percussion so Kevin could sing the whole song as needed. The set, like the chandelier and the tub in the woods were unexpected. They stayed in the song’s lane as you noted, which for them is not always the case. ❤.
🥹👉Sadly this is the only holiday video they put out that winter when Avi left before Matt joined. I struggled with Avi's departure I couldn't watch the concert footage of his last show for a couple years. When I finally did I cried all over again. Before this song they did Dancing On My Own (A cover by a singer called Robyn) shortly after Avi left and it was a goodbye to him from these 4members. You could feel the emotion in their voices. Avi acknowledged them in a comment for that video stating that it was a BEAUTIFUL and that he loved them. Admittedly it took me a minute to warm up to Matt and that is only because I don't like change (I know it's probably dumb, but I've gotten better) I'm an OG fan so I quickly got attached to the quintet so it was hard to not see Avi with them anymore. I ABSOLUTELY ADORE Matt, he is a Great talent, Great spirit , Great energy. He is definitely Kevin's wing man to hype up the live audience. A WONDERFUL fit for PENTATONIX. I still support Avi and everyone of their side projects and endeavors.
Yeah, I haven't quite figured out the randomness of the scene, but everything they do is with a vision and purpose in mind. And even if you run out of time to react to their Christmas music this year, you'll have next year to catch up (hint:start as soon as Halloween is over, lol!)! And knowing them, a new Christmas album will be out by then, too!
I haven't heard the Bocelli version, but the tune they sing for this in the UK is completely different, so Bocelli may have done that, or some Italian tune.
This was very nice, I agree. Seemed a bit melancholy to me though. Probably my own projection; imagining that they were feeling a bit “lost” without Avi.Yay Mitch ❤️! Maybe it was a cloudy night and there weren’t any “stars in the sky” to “look down where He lay”, so they had to improvise with a variety of lamps…and the tub was a manger…maybe. 😊
