@@mecfstraveler ....while I agree pentatonix does deserve a grammy for this......because of lack of air play and the grammy award associations attitude towards pentatonix......I don't see it happening......even when pentatonix released their original album "the lucky ones"...because of lack of air play none of those songs were nominated...which is a travesty in itself.
@@perrystevenson6364 2 of their Grammies didn’t get a lot of air play either, Daft Punk and Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy. Not sure if Jolene got play on country radio? Here’s hoping another one for arrangement.
The entire performance is beautiful but the section that gets me every time is Kirstin in the back and forth with Mitch. Another song you should check is Amazing Grace when Kirstin has the same effect on me.
There is a 17-minute documentary, "The Making of Evergreen" that shows Pentatonix in the studio recording parts of the "Evergreen" album last year, including this song. At the very beginning, Scott is preparing to record his part on one of the songs and he has a scratchy voice but decides to try recording anyway. A trained, professional singer just has to deal with occasional vocal problems.
We’ll have to check the making of Evergreen out! That’s amazing that they’re able to still put on such a beautiful performance whether their voice is scratchy or not. Scott so great! Thanks so much for stopping by and watching! Take care!!!💕💕
Thanks so much! We’ve been recommended that song by several people. We can’t wait to See it for the first time and react. Kevin is amazing. Thanks so much for your kind words it means a lot! Take care!
Besides the fantastic arrangement and performance by Pentatonix, the thing that always amazes me about this song is its humble beginnings. It was originally part of a 1998 animated musical movie, "Quest For Camelot". Sung by Celine Dion, the movie version of the song was just the first verse (the lyrics slightly modified from the version here), and only lasted about 1 minute. The movie soundtrack had a slightly longer version of the song, but it didn't really make an impact until Celine and Italian opera tenor Andrea Bocelli (hence Scott singing in Italian) co-released it on their albums as a duet. Speaking of hearing organs - on their cover of Amazing Grace - My Chains Are Gone, in the last portion of the song especially, Matt's bass line sounds almost exactly like a large church organ giving support for their vocals.
@Badger 7772 That's so interesting. We didn't know that background of The Prayer. Can't wait to see Amazing Grace!! Thanks for stopping by again!!!!!💕💕
@@DanielBrown-sn9op Not to be too picky, but I've seen the movie, and the copyright date on it is 1998. And since The Prayer was originally nominated for a Grammy and Academy Award in 2000 and 1999 respectively, I'll stick with the 1998 date.
This song, in my opinion, is their best work. We have seen other reactors respond the same way as you. One reactor finally said that he was just saying words and uttering noises. Recommend another video from their evergreen album, I Just Called To Say I Love You.
Said "organ" is likely Matt Sallee once again. You seem to have quite the time beliving that he's human. He's not a string instrument, not a parrot and not an organ. Just a super talanted man, haha!
Keyboard media controls, nice job, well done, 12 sing off performances, recording of evergreen, ptxperience episodes old and new, and well pretty much the entire remaining catalogue is probably what people will want to hush ya towards
Thank you so much, @Adrian Castro !! Thanks for the recommendations. We will can't wait to get to the 12 Sing Off performances! We well add your suggestions to our list, for sure! Thanks for stopping by.💕💕
@Kim Logan , Thank you so much for those recommendations. We will put them on the list!! We appreciate it! Every song we have seen amazes us! Take care and thanks for stopping by💕💕
Thanks for that recommendation Linda! It’s definitely on our list we’re almost to it. I can’t wait because I love that song! Can’t wait to hear the PTX version thanks for stopping by and watching! Take care!!
Yeah, that’s definitely on our list. Will be doing it real soon! Thanks for the recommendation! Thanks for stopping by again darlin’ your support means a lot! Take care!💕💕
No organ. No instruments. They very occasionally use instruments, but they will be seen in the video if they do. Usually piano or cello (Kevin plays it).
