Peter Gabriel was a founding member of the band Genesis in the late 1960. When he left the band after the Lamb Lies Down On Broadway tour in 1975, they decided that the drummer, Phil Collins, would step out from behind the drums and so Phil became their new singer as well as the drummer... A unusual combo which also meant that they needed a drummer for the live shows. The talent from Genesis includes Peter Gabriel, Phil Collins, Steve Hackett, Anthony Philips and Mike Rutherford with his band Mike and the Mechanics. All had successful solo careers.
