Have you ever experienced that phenomenon where you finally get a friend or loved one to agree to check out your favorite musician, and after exposing them to all the classics you're just busting at the seams for them to hear, they go "yeah, yeah all good, but THIS song is the best!"...and it's one that was barely on your radar at all? IDK about you but when that happens I start to listen through their ears, and gain much more appreciation. That was my experience with my girlfriend and "Sorrow", Perfect episode Brandon, thanks for the positivity you always bring to the proceedings.

Had the grace to experience a similar Show in 1994 in Hannover and remember that next to me several women were constantly crying and so did I with the solo, couldnt Stop tears during the solo... Yes and Richard gives the soul spirit journey athmosphere, just magic

You're definitely going to want to check out "High Hopes" Pulse version. They do a great job with "Money" from Dark Side. and "Great Gig in the Sky" as well. The first time I saw them perform this song live in 1988 indoors, I was main floor dead center. When those laser lights spread out over the audience with the clouds of smoke in them and you're looking up from underneath them, all you see are the green what looks like animated clouds above you. The actual ceiling of the arena is completely obliterated. It is an absolutely sick effect from that perspective. Between that and the 360° surround sound from all around you, you really do feel like you've been transported into another world somewhere inside the music. They do this effect again during the second solo of Comfortably Numb with even more and prolonged laser spread. I remember me and my friend just looking at each other dumbfounded and thinking.. what is happening? Like, where did the stage go? I can remember some of the lasers seemed to be bouncing off of Gilmour's guitar but that's all I could make out of the stage. There are two reasons people leave a Floyd concert looking like zombies... Half are stoned out of their minds. And the other half, like me, can't believe what they just witnessed.

Time flies when listening to Pink Floyd Music! This was an incredible tour, The Division Bell World Tour in 1994. Check out what went into the making of this tour, the logistics alone are off the charts. Another astounding Pink Floyd tour is The Wall in 1980, checking out what went on in those incredible, phenomenal, The Wall performances! Normally a Pink Floyd tour of the United States consisted of about 60 to 70 performances, because of the massive cost and logistics of The Wall Tour, PF performed only 12 concert dates in the US in 1980! Six on the east coast in NY, on Long Island, and six on the west coast in LA, and that's it. I was fortunate enough to get tickets to one of the performances of The Wall in February of 1980, it was at The Nassau Coliseum in Uniondale, Long Island NY. I was 24 years old, and it was the most phenomenal, astounding, breathtaking, Show/Concert/Play/Movie I have ever seen in all of my 66 years on this planet! The concert alone is indescribable, I'll just say this,... The Show opened up with a small plane came flying from the back of the venue, over the audience crashing into The Wall, (that was being built), in a ball of flames. It was an appropriate beginning to what was to come for the next two and a half hours. Here's a 26 second clip of the plane crashing into the partially built Wall. This clip is of Roger Waters performances of The Wall after he had quit the band. Back in O.C. Calif when I was 30 my wife heard a commercial on the radio about a P.F. show coming up. Knowing I am a Floyd fan she called the radio station (KMET - LA, “The Mighty Met”) to get information on the concert, The DJ on live radio Cynthia Fox…. said...."Congratulations, YOU are caller number 10, YOU just won tickets to the show and the Sound Check Party before the show"... I met David Gilmour back stage. He gave us both a signed album that I have in my music room. We talked for 22 minutes. I called him…“The Master Of The Stratocaster” He smiled. I told him his music will stand the test of time with anything from Beethoven or Mozart. He smiled even bigger. I asked if I could shake both his hands that make such great guitar solos, he smiled bigger and said “Sure” and shook both hands at the same time, making a cross between us, I smiled HUGE. Hard to explain how awesome that moment was in my life. I asked him to describe his technique of playing guitar, he replied… “I strike a note, bend it, shake it and then release it”…. Yes, he does that quite well, better than any other guitarist I know. . I told him in my eyes he’s a “Legend“. He thanked me and said “Enjoy the show”…. during the concert after the song “Money” he looked right at me and said…. “On saxophone, another Legend, Mr. Raphael Ravenscroft” … acknowledging my comment to him. It is my favorite moment in over 300 shows I’ve seen. I asked David…. How do you create those awesome solos?… he said….. I sit on a stool and listen to what Roger, Nick and Rick put down and play along. I listen to what I played and pick out what I like, then I put the pieces together into one piece then learn to play it as one. Our fans are fanatics for our shows to sound like the albums so I must play it correctly each time in a show. I have the concert Brochure and album on the wall with David’s picture centerfold. All of us fortunate enough to have seen this show live were in a TRANCE.... MESMERIZED the entire show... as you can imagine. We walked out saying.... What did we just witness? That was out of this world incredible. The Red Fender Stratocaster he used for this concert in the Guitar Collector World is ....PRICELESS

the thing with Pink Floyd is that they could execute 90% of their material to a studio level or even elevate it

I went to both nights of the pulse tour when they were in DC, and you're right. I consider myself lucky. They played the same set list both nights with the exception of one song, but I'm so glad I went to both shows as a high school graduation present for myself!

I have seen Pink Floyd Live 4 times… I saw this same show Syracuse Carrier Dome in N.Y. 1994. The concert brochure said the stage is 120 feet wide. It takes a crew of 60 technicians three days to set up the entire lights and all. The concert schedule required that there had to be three entire crews to keep up. They leap froged each other for 92 shows with 20 Trucks per crew and a total staff of 195. The tour cost the promoters $98.MILLION to put on, but the total profit was $260 MILLION. Nick Mason’s drumming is incredible and matches Gilmour’s guitar emotions while Richard Wright takes us on a Magic Carpet Ride of tones that form the foundation of it all.

Love ‘Sorrow’, such a great track. Just a thought for you. If you want to have a amazing ‘Live’ experience of Pink Floyd’s music and you’ve never seen them before, then go and see ‘The Australian Pink Floyd Show’. They’re touring the USA this summer, 2023. (June 29th to September 24th, more dates being added though). And they are performing the whole of the ‘Dark Side Of The Moon’ Album, in it’s entirety, to celebrate it’s 50th Anniversary. (1973-2023). Plus so much more, from many of Floyd’s other Albums. I’ve seen them about 15 times and they are phenomenal. The whole Band are absolutely incredible and they are highly recommended by David Gilmour himself. They even have one of Floyd’s former backing singers, Lorelei McBroom. All 3 of the girls are absolutely amazing. The musicianship, the light show, everything, is just awesome. The whole Band is sensational. We see them every year. Trust me, you won’t be disappointed. 🎶❤️🎶 Just my own feelings. 🎶🦘🎶

Never thought I'd be "Retro'd".. I was there in Pasadena 1994 April, Both Nights... It was the the most awesome concert I've been to.. it was spiritual...

I did see them live in 1994; it was a lifetime memory and experience. The concert was 3 hours with an intermission. Every song of the Pulse performance is transforming even all of these years later. The light and effects were state of the art for its time, as well as the musicianship.

High Hopes from Division Bells album was the latest album released at that time ! was exited to see that in that concert ! was in the last part of the show and with the visual on that round movie screen ! how can one forget that show ? lol ! 😋

You need to keep your eyes on the show. Everything they do, everything they put in the show is for you. Floyd wants to give you a visceral experience. You definitely need to react to the Keep Talking.

About "Sorrow", I've heard someone say: "When Aliens from space once invade Earth, this will be the song, they'll play, before taking over!" (paraphrasing)

I was a 18 year old stagehand for all 3 days of the 1987 Dallas shows at Reunion Arena and the Texas stadium shows 1988 one off show and the 1994 back to back shows

This was from the Division Bell Tour in 1994. I saw them on that tour on April 14 in San Diego in Jack Murphy Stadium. The crowd was 51,610 people. The average ticket price for the show was $30. I basically had the worse seats in the house, 4 rows from the last row - furthest from the stage. But still, it was the best concert I ever saw. The big takeaways were the sound of Gilmour’s guitar and the light show. I still can’t believe how good the band sounded from those terrible seats. Thank you for the reaction. Great stuff. Hi ! When the double album came out in stores i bought it of course ! It was the most unique album i ever seen and owned ! it was a hard cardboard case with pamphlets displaying pics of the show and 2 CDs and a red pulse light on the side of the case with the small battery tucked in the bottom of the case ! it pulsed for years ! wass a blue case ! maybe some music stores still have them or they can still order one if it s not discontinued ! look for it ! it s a good piece of collection ! Already told you i saw that concert ! lol

When I think that you still have so much more PF to discover (good for you) and to react to (good for us), I can't wait!

Thanks for reacting to this one. It's my personal favorite from the Pulse concert, but you really can't go wrong with anything from it. I also really like 'Keep Talking.' Like 'Sorrow', it isn't a hit song, but it has a vibe that is really cool, in my opinion, with more guitar wizadry from David Gilmour, of course. If you react to that one, also pay attention to how much the background singers add to the song. 'Run Like Hell' is great, too (it's the closer).

Cool reaction mate as usual , seen them on the same tour in Rotterdam, Holland in sept 94 , age 20 . 5 full coaches/buses left Glasgow, Scotland early Friday morning for a day and a half in Amsterdam then onto the concert on the Sunday night in Feyenoord's stadium . Best weekend of my life lol Has to be the best live tour for music, lighting , performance and genius level ever staged. Just my humble opinion though . Peace mate

Pulse Kick ass...it was the number one show in the world in 1994...and with the complete album Dark Side of the moon...it was crazy...Check the album The Final Cut...the last album with the original members...regards from Chile..

i would suggest "one of these days" from the same concert because a) it is an instrumental and b) you see gilmour playing on something else, surprise 🙃

I am one of the lucky people who got to go to this concert in Earls Court, London, sadly not on the night of this recording but the night after, utterly amazing experience. You don't get half of it thru the video, as good as it is you can't feel the music hitting you, or the heat of the flares going off. I've been to a lot of concerts but this was the only one where the crowd just sat mesmerized almost unable to take it all in. There isn't a bad track there and it's hard to pick favourites but I really enjoyed "One of these days", and the closing number "Run like Hell" is an incredible light show so don't close your eyes so much! Then of course you can't miss one the greatest guitar solo's of all time in "Comfortably Numb".

Great choice again Brandon! I did see this tour back in ‘94, in Madison, Wisconsin. Was the most phenomenal show I’ve ever been to. Guy Pratt, the bass player took over after Roger Waters left the band. He was married to Richard Wrights daughter in the past now divorced. Guy now plays with Nick Mason and his “Saucer Full of Secrets” project. They play mostly the older, Syd Barret era Pink Floyd. I did see a comment about “The Australian Pink Floyd Show”. I’ve seen them 7-8 times and they’re as close to a true Pink Floyd show as you’ll get. You should definitely check them out if they make it to your area. Also there is “Brit Floyd” who is also currently touring. They have a couple of members formerly of the Australian Pink Floyd Show. Both bands have videos on RU-vid… you should check them out.

I don't think that there's a weak moment in this concert. But yes, High Hopes is a must. Coming back to life also... But you can't go wrong really. Thanks for this one!!

I just subscribed! Please keep up with Pink Floyd. The last concert I got to go to was "Buckethead", live at Sony Hall, in down town Manhattan, in 2019. You have to add Stevie Ray Vaughn, live at the Elmocambo, to your "Must Hear" and see list. One of the greatest guitarist's of my time. Then there's Jeff Healy, who is blind and plays the lead guitar on his lap. I'm 64, so lived through the greatest age for music, car's, weed, and everything else. I envy you your journey!!

I was so stupid not to go but I saw the Momentary Lapse of Reason tour. Best live show I ever saw. Personally I'm less of a fan of their 80s stuff because it misses Waters (or Waters dominated the record with The Final Cut). Pink Floyd at their best is where there's a certain balance and everyone has moments to contribute and shine. Doesn't mean there aren't gems to be found at their records after 1979. And live, they were the best.

I know it's not the same but the Australian pink Floyd are worth checking out

Hey wait, Time DOES exist with Pink Floyd.......and you haven't reacted to it yet. Also of potential interest to you Mr. keymaster, those synth triplets that give this song a kind of dance groove are buried much deeper in the studio mix, but the Pompeii 2016 performance brings them all the way to the front, and it actually kinda changes the whole texture of the song for me. You might give that a look on your TIME.

Primary rule... You never close your eyes during a live performance... EVER. Everything is masterfully interconnected. Lights with the special effects with the music. Everything is part of the story

Do you play the key board (s) yourself, or have I misunderstood your meaning ? If you do like great keyboards, especially double and triple decked Hammond organs, then I recommend a live 1970 TV studio performance by Deep Purple. Sweat Child in Time. The band will blow your mind. Ian Gillans live vocals and controlled wails / screams will leave you speachless and mute. Jon Lords organ will mesmerise you..... he even squeezes in a bit of Flight of the Bumble Bea.
