the thing I love most about this song is that its the whole scope of a life, Throughout the song hidden in the drums is a heartbeat. That's the life. it only stops when they talk about the faithful gathering to hear the "softly spoken magic spell" - that's the funeral.

Other than the track Money, this album was created at a time entire albums were listened to at once. It is really the only way to appreciate Dark Side of the Moon, along with virtually all Pink Floyd albums, indeed, most of the albums of the era. From the glory days of AOR, or album oriented rock, FM radio dj’s would almost exclusively avoid single tracks, instead doing entire LP album sIdes or both sides. Often including conversations with artists, producers, and other conversational asides. Nothing like this will ever be heard again. Glad you played this, but be aware that individual cuts do not capture the spirit or intent of this album.

These Floyd tracks seem to end abruptly and that's because it leads seemlessly blend into the next track. BJ is spot on when he says the track talks about time running out and death, because that's what the follow on track is about. The stages of facing death ( ie the great gig in the sky); either your own or a loved one's. It's an AMAZING track too!!!

I remember the first time I heard The Dark Side Of The Moon (I was about 10 years old). My parents had quite a collection of music albums, so I was listening to quite modern music for the time - but this was otherworldly! How can anyone put the sound of a clock, money jingling, a helicopter from left to right, someone laughing in a song? I was absolutely thrilled! And yet I didn't understand it at all (I was born in Czechoslovakia and of course I didn't speak English - which unfortunately I still don't). When I later found out what lyrics these pieces of music contained, I was amazed at how deep and true Pink Floyd's lyrics were. They are still timeless today. Have a great 2022 everyone!

I am being metaphorical here. But I picture Pink Floyd on the first day they ever walked into a recording studio. And some label exec walks up to them and hands them a book titled "How to make a rock song correctly." And the band flipped through it for five seconds, said "Thank you", threw the book out the window, and set about writing their own book.

Great Reaction!! You should experience them in concert Back in 1975 the drummer Mason looked like he was beating on logs from the floor area, Seen them many times the best concert 6/1977 Cleveland Stadium Animals tour amazing it was, and to think the ticket was $9.50 Last time they played in Pittsburgh Three Rivers Stadium it was on my birthday 5/31/1994 Seen all Rogers tours gonna b at his Not A Drill concert at PPG just look for my van in the lot..Hope you have a great 2022 !! ✌out

Fun fact: the part after he says “the song is over, thought I’d something more to say” isn’t actually Time, but is a reprise of the album’s opening track Breathe (same chord progression/structure/etc, essentially another verse of Breathe added in 2 tracks later)

They have a VERY unique sound. I've been looking for another band like them for 30 years. The song you tuned in here is one that will grow on you in a huge way as you two grow older. If this is truly your first time hearing this, give it ten years. The impact it can have on your life is unparalleled in my humble opinion.

Osiyo. Folks need look up the musicians that have Native tribal America influences in their music. Even Jimi Hendrix is part Cherokee. Interesting guitar players in hx.

One of the greatest way to listen to this whole album is through speakers and eye shades. Taking vision open up a whole other realm. Listening to it with speakers the music interacts with the room and you get a wild soundstage. Grab a cd of it (Mobile Fidelity) you thought you heard something it will take you to a whole nother level. Awesome reaction.

Really Good Reaction Guys.I am living proof of "Time" as I went to see this debuted in 1973 in Earls Court, West London in 1973, with 18,000 others, and the last FORTY-NINE years have disappeared since I was 18. I am 67 now and still out 5 times a week HOWEVER my best mate, who I went with died suddenly aged just 60 after just fulfilling his dream of starting his own Business at 59 years old. The other Guy I went with has lived in Mountain areas for the last 45 years. The organist is dead: Richard Wright and the world-famous Arena is now.............. A HOUSING COMPLEX as of 2020 demonstrating that we are all just in one place at one time and people and situations change VERY QUICKLY....

If you didn't know better you would think that guys in their late 50s sang this song but they were only in their 20s. Pretty deep for such young men.

To put it in perspective. It seems like just yesterday when I first heard this song, but actually it's 45 years later and now I'm watching others react to it. Where HAS the time gone? "No one told me when to run, I missed the starting gun." Great reaction as usual. Oh, and while we're at it: It's 2022! Where are my highways in the sky? Why have we not colonized at least the moon? No, instead we got social media and smart phones. But, at least "there's an app for that!" 😑 *sigh*

Asia is right. Pink Floyd can not be categorized into a genre. There is nobody and nothing else comparable.
