You couldnt be a "hair metal" or hard rock band in the 80s without a slow ballad on your album. This was one of the most popular in its day, definitely the best song from Poison. Their guitar player, CC Deville is very underrated imo too.
All hard rock bands had Power Ballads: Bob Jovi had a few including “I’ll Be There For You”. Foreigner: “I Want To Know What Love Is”. Skid Row: “I Remember You”. Heart: “Alone”. Every other song by Journey, on and on…….
Right on. But cut away all the hair, wash off all the makeup, and strip away the goings on in the videos, and what you have is great rock n roll from Poison. CC Deville is indeed underrated. And they put on a great live show back in the day.
Poison is still rocking today with all four original band members with the same high energy stage show fun concerts! Their music is mostly about just cutting loose and having “ nothing but a good time “ and that’s exactly what going to a Poison concert has and still is like today ! Check out some of their “ live” music videos as well as their original made for MTV videos from the ‘80’s … Like … “ Talk dirty to Me”, Fallen Angel, Unskinny Bop, I want Action, Ride the Wind, Look what the cat dragged in, and so many more !
I love this song...I grew up in the 80s. Last night I got to see Brett Michaels for first time...I'm from pa and sorry I didn't see him back I'm the day, but at 60 he's still rockin just as good as ever....great show and I would go c him again if I get the chance
I played in a rock roll band on the east coast in the mid 80s. I met Bret Michaels (the singer) in late '85 , early '86 right when they were out to promote their new album coming out. I had no clue who he was because they were only really known in the LA scene at that point. The minute they took the stage and seeing the crowd's reaction, I knew they would make it big. 6 or so months later, they went from relatively smaller to mid sized clubs to selling out arenas. It's cool to see fellow musicians start out like this and make it big in short order. It's also a rarity since millions of us musicians all tried to make it. They hit at the right time with the right formula, the right songs and the right look. If they would have hit the scene just 5 years later, they would have never been as big.
Poison dominated MTV in the 80s. My favorite band of all time. Saw them live in concert in 1988 with David Lee Roth. Best songs: Nothin but a good time Look what the cat dragged in Fallen Angel Ride the Wind Something to believe in Unskinny Bop Stand
Poison was an 80's Hair Glam Metal band. Songs: Nothin' But a Good Time, Talk Dirty to Me, Unkskinny Bop, Something to Believe In, Fallen Angel, Want Some Need Some.
You guys were so engaged in those lyrics. Great song. Poison will surprise you with most of their music. Definitely some 80s hair band rock. I think personally they were underrated. Check them out on video next time because they are er..visually interesting too. 😂 “Talk Dirty to Me” is a good choice for a video.
Lead singer Brett Michaels has been quoted as saying he, "Liked a little rock in his country, and a little country in his rock!". One of the 80's biggest "Hair Metal" bands.
Darius Rucker is an incredible singer songwriter. His earlier stuff when he was with Hootie and the Blowfish is great. You should give Let Her Cry or Hold My Hand a go.
Poison will always have my heart. I grew up not getting to listen to much rock music. I discovered them my freshman year of high school. They were my first concert and I still love them so much! Definitely check out more of their music! These guys are a lot of fun!
I love watching the four of your getting down to this and head bopping! This made my day!!! You brought the 80s back to my life by doing that together!!!
Would love to see you react to: Tesla - "Love Song" & Skid Row - "I Remember You". They're right up your alley if you feel this. Much love from Canada. 🇨🇦👊🏼🎸
Absolutely my fave song by my fave band. This song spent three weeks at #1 on the Billboard harts at the end of the 80's. They had so many great hits and many tunes that are totally underrated. Please listen to more...they can definitely rock out too!
I'd like to introduce you'll to some of the grooviest disco music you will ever hear, this will definitely have your toes tapping 👞 "KC & The Sunshine Band - (Shake, Shake, Shake) Shake, " This is a live performance, and don't forget to checkout their outfits...the 70's were certainly colorful 😏✨✨🕺🎶🎷😎
Poison is a glam metal band. If you want a banger you can't go wrong with Poison's Nothing but a good time. The message is clear what Bret Michaels is singing about.
Ok Boys I am sorry I have been sick but this is Poison. One of their best albums which no this song was not on this, was Look What the Cat Dragged IN. Brett Michaels the lead singer wrote this song after a break up that went very amicable. WHICH is hard to do in my Generation. You kids are awesome and I am proud to watch you guys react to these songs. AND on a note that most of my generation that listened to this music, besides Stairway to Heaven this song at the end of the 80's made a LOT of guys very LUCKY if they were playing this song. That and the Boys to Men song. but that is for another time. Continue you Great work because you are making me smile when you guys play the songs of my YOUTH.
The height of Hair Metal, damn I remember this era! So many hair bands to choose from. My wife's name is Rose, too. My dad raised me on hair metal and heavy metal, my mom raised me on country, pop and Motown but around somewhere in the 80s I discovered rap. Long story. Fellas "Fallen Angel" is my favorite Poison song, it must be cranked and it's a definite fire extinguisher!
Poison was a cool 80s Hard Rock band with recognizable hits but what made the band great was C.C. Deville on lead guitar. There are many more Poison songs for you to discover but please at least check out their song Life Goes On if not just for the killer guitar showing C.C. at his best! I saw them in concert when I was 18 and again in 2019 when I was 46 and they rocked both times!
Poison is one if my favorite bands! They were also my 1st concert. You definitely need to check out "I Want Action" and "Fallen Angel" As for black country singers check out Kane Brown "Heaven" "What If" "Be Like That" and Jimmie Allen "Down Home" "Big in A Small Town" "Livin' my Best Life".
80's Rock Ballard's at their best!! Poison is great! Check out these other songs of theirs... Nothing but a good time, Fallen angel, Something to believe in, Unskinny bop, Your mama don't dance... & sooo many more 😁🎶😁
I have heard of several African American Country singers: DeFord Bailey, Charlie Pride, Aaron Neville. Lil Nas (Created a fusion between Hip Hop and Country). Lesley Riddle made huge strides in the beginnings of country music. Some of these were performers WAY back over 100 years ago some are more recent. Great question and great reaction.
Must also listen to "Talk Dirty to Me", "Unskinny Bop", "Nothin' But A Good Time" and you can't forget "Something to Believe In" guitar sounds like it's screaming/crying.
alan parsons project "EYE IN THE SKY", SKID ROW "YOUTH GONE WILD" or "I Remember You", Dirty Heads "Goonies" or "Sweet home California", Candlebox "You", Billy Joel "Still rock and roll to me". Happy new year brothers. Love, hope and faith to all of you and yours.
Man. I respect yall for expanding and listening to different genres of music. 80s hair bands had some fire back in the day. Motley Crue had bangers "Home Sweet Home", Same Ol' Situation". Poison had more fire too. Guns and Roses had fire "November Rain", "WELCOME to the Jungle", "Paradise City" to name a few
For more Darius Rucker listen to Hootie and the Blowfish. Darius is lead singer of the band. Some of their songs are Let her cry and Hold my hand and Only want to be with you.
Ahh, the "hair band" or "hair metal" era. The late 80s - early 90s had a lot of good bands but for me, even though I was just a kid, Poison was right up there with Guns N Roses and Motley Crue. You guys HAVE to react to some more Motley Crue. "Dr. Feelgood", "Same Ol' Situation" and "Don't Go Away" are personal favorites for me! Poison's song "Something To Believe In" is also great, and "Unskinny Bop" is a banger!
This song was the best song they ever did. Followed by Something to believe in. I put both in my top 5 songs of all time though so don't be mad. Both have a story to them that make them even better.
The lead singer, Bret Michaels, says that he wrote this song when he was out on tour, called home to talk to his girlfriend and heard her new boyfriend in the background. He sat down that night and wrote the lyrics. The girlfriend in question says that Bret was the one cheating, not her. But that's what the song is about. Relationship may be a beautiful thing, but there's always a thorn in it to stick you. This was Poison's only number one hit, although they had several others that charted quite well. I've seen them in concert eight times now, and they're one of the few bands of that era that still sound amazing. For me, their best ballad is actually a different song, "Something to Believe In." I highly recommend you check out that one.
Just saw Poison July 22 at The Stadium Tour in Philly w Motley Crue, Def Leppard and Joan Jett…..still amazing after all these years! I’m an 80s fan…..as you can tell by my user name….I love your videos and I’m 57 years old! Keep ‘em coming!
They were the first concert I went to back in the 80s it was the Ratt Poison tour it was awesome. Brings back memories. But hey y’all how about Beastie Boys 3MCs and 1DJ Or Hey Ladies Shake Your Rump Sure Shot Sabotage All good Solomon.
Check out Jimmie Allan - Down Home. He is a newer black country singer. I beleive he will be one of the top artists as well. Asfor my top 3 they are Ray Charles, Charlie Pride, and Darius Rucker.
Poison has so many good songs ‘Something to Believe In’ is a deep one too. For bangers check out ‘Look What the Cat Dragged In’; ‘Nothing but a Good Time’; ‘Fallen Angel’; ‘Cry Tough’ and ‘Ride the Wind’
Great ballad from them, I probably would have stated with one of their up beat songs....Talk Dirty To Me OR Look What the Car Dragged In OR Love on the Rocks OR You're Mamma Don't Dance......
Good 80s band. Brett Michaels wrote this about his stripper girlfriend who dumped him. Good songwriter. Guitar solo by CC deVille. He was top rated guitarist until he hooked up with cocaine and alcohol. Self destructed. Brett never got over this breakup. Although he could have any girl, he pick one to have children with but never married. And remember every rock album is required to have power ballads. Poison had some good old fashion rock songs too. I suggest you check out Skid Row. Best ballad .. I Remember You. Best rock vocals .. Wasted Time. This song written about their friend Steven Adler, drummer for Guns N Roses, almost died from heroin addiction. The music video is stunning. You will freak over the vocals.
I'm a fan of your channel, keep doing your thing. Poison is one of the greats from the 80s rock scene. Check out Fallen Angel, and Life Goes On. Those are BANGERS. Also, you need to check out Def Leppard, Love Bites and Hysteria. PEACE
