Queen at Live Aid! It's 20 minutes, but the day Queen was up against almost every major act in a benefit concert that was broadcast worldwide. Each act got 20 minutes to perform and Queen -- as is often said -- stole the show. It's beyond amazing and worth doing the entire set.
We know Queen fans do. He slays those drums every time. I can forgive people who are new to Queen though. Roger is an epic drummer. His skill is up there with anyone. His passion is immense. And he's a better singer than many lead singers.
And he came in heavy on the backing vocals. After 2 hours, plus being ill, I think he knew Freddie was struggling and came in extra hard to help his friend out. Bless this band!
I totally agree. I was wondering if this was the last live performance. I feel him struggle and want to hug him! What a huge loss. They are each incredibly talented!
@@ellesee7079 I'm not 100% sure but I think roger was turned up during the first chorus because of the overdubs and the other ones are all done in studio by Freddie, same with and I ain't gotta loose. I'm not lying about the overdubs you can just hear Freddie sing LOoooOse at 4:41, and you can hear the volume of Freddies mic drop down after the first overdub at 2:33, some of them don't match his body movement or even his lips.
God I love Queen. I think if Freddie was still alive today we'd all still be showing him our love packing out stadiums. Queen never dies though. Never people!
This song is a one of the modern classic because it transcend sports. Life has kicked dirt on all of our face. We just need to dust ourselves off of all the challenges. You two complement each other perfectly. Thanks for inviting us to your parties…
I was at this concert with my wife . It was just brilliant and the support bands were Status Quo , Inxs and The Alarm . All for the princely sum of £14 pound each . Without a doubt the best money I ever spent . I will never forget that day for sure .
WOW guys what a great reaction PLZ keep em coming, I'm 65 years old now & Queen still keep me kicken... I first seen them on TV when I was just 17, I WAS HOOKED... love from UK.
YES! Do a live Queen reaction. I enjoy watching your trip THAT rabbit hole. Suggestion if I may. Somebody to Love, Montreal 1981. Save Me and Who Wants to Live Forever,
freddie was a one off,he could control the whole crowd like nobody else.live aid is incredible, they stole the show from some of the most iconic artists ever
I have NEVER, EVER in my 55yrs of being a music Junkie, witnessed, neither Live or recorded another crowd of a hundred thousand plus fans, in perfect unison, SALUTE, any other band OFF STAGE!!! Just goes to show what kind of Epic, Once in a lifetime, and Complete UNEQUALED CONNECTION Freddie and the Band Had with those MASSIVE crowds they drew everywhere they played!! And let's be honest, Queen is a BRILLIANT band of Musicians, but we ALL know, Freddie Mercury is who they they came to see!! R.I.P. FREDIE I can say this with absolute CERTAINTY, The world will never come close to having another Freddie Mercury 😢
I'll keep it short this time. Thank you for staying with the music. You are the first I've watched whose reaction took me BACK. I was there. I'd just graduated from college, my best friend on this planet (Lulu, RIP- 4 YEARS she's been gone and it's a colder world- but f.it, we "carry on, carry in") had been invited to London, we were 23 yo, and life was in HIGH gear! I never need to go to another concert because this one destroyed them all. The ROAR of 88,000+ drove into your marrow. The video captures 10% of the octane that was in the air. You felt as if a higher power had touched you. That is rare. Peace!
Freddie wrote We Are The Champions, the band said Freddie being very cheeky about it, they knew, as we fans knew Freddie wrote it because Queen made it, even though the music critics were constantly against them, troubles with their first management ripping them off, they overcame it all. Queen was always the people's band, they put their fans first, always gave their best to us. Great reaction.
Oh Happy Memories! This was one of the best concerts I ever went to! I had so much fun that day and couldn't speak the next day due to all the cheering and singing that I did. All of Queen were terrific! Oh Happy Days.
Love when Freddie walks out in his majestic garb. You can’t deny that Freddie wears the crown deservedly so! I’m so jealous of anyone who has seen Queen live with Freddie Mercury! I was young when Queen toured the U.S 😩 “whahah” so finding live performances online has been a treat!! My fav concert is Queen On Fire Live At The Bowl (Milton Keynes) SOMEBODY TO LOVE is amazing!
Hi, Queen and Freddie stole the show at the Live Aid for Africa Concert 13th July 1985 at Wembley Stadium UK, 21 minutes of the best concert you will ever see live in your life, I am now 64 and remember that day like yesterday, audience estimated at 100, 000 in the stadium and 10,000 in and around the car parks to the stadium, every big name from the UK and the USA lined up to play at that concert, but believe me they all paid homage to Freddie and the band after this performance by them, you really must watch and react to this as you will both love it, Love from the UK.
My favorite live Queen performance, probably my favorite live performance period is White Queen live at Odeon, Hammersmith 1975. It is a performance that leaves you speechless. Freddie's emotive voice, his piano work and OMG Brian's guitar skills on that song are outstanding. Live Aid concert is mind boggling and you WILL feel like you are actually there, that is how good it is. So go ahead, dive in. You will love Queen live even more than their studio recordings which are not too shabby either. My favorite band of all time!
Their concert Live at Milton Keynes is excellent. Their beginning performances will show you why the fans took notice. Live at the Rainbow, and a Night at the Odeon have several impressive songs: Seven Seas of Rhye, Liar, Stone Cold Crazy, You're My Best Friend, White Queen and several more. I hope you will do many more Queen reviews, your enthusiasm and appreciation for their music is wonderful
I can't imagine the experience of having so many people hanging breathlessly on your every word and note. Freddie had insane levels of talent, but also such a stage presence.
I was lucky enough to see Queen live and yes there is no concert like it. I love that the next generation is keeping this magic alive, and yes you absolutely need to choose their live performances moving forward. Long live Queen !
There's nothing like a Queen concert. I've been to 2 of them at Madison Square Garden. It's an experience that stays with you. Mine have for over 40 years. These 2 songs close out each and every Queen show. There is nothing like thousands of people singing along with the band!
The lesser known songs are also fantastic and the variety of their music is unlimited. Please try some early Queen too, like 'White Queen' or 'Liar', the live versions of course.
We Are the Champions is usually combined with We Will Rock You...with the latter being played first, leading into Champions. It's one of their most iconic combos. And that's saying a LOT. Meanwhile, God Save the Queen (as recorded for the closing track on their album A Night at the Opera) is how they closed out pretty much every concert.
When We are the Champions first came out, when played on the radio, it was always preceded by We Will Rock You. They were companions songs back in the day.
Nice review. I"ve met Brian May (the guitarist) several times ... incredible gentleman. If you want to look at more "live" stuff, check out either Queen Rocks Montreal or Live at the Rainbow. Good stuff. Peace to you.
I grew up with this song (junior high), and I still love it. At the time though the two songs ("We will rock you" and "we are the champions" went together). They were always played together. So, in my mind they are one amazing song! I don't recall that you both have reacted to We Will Rock You, yet. If you have you absolutely have to, and if you do you need to do the two songs together. If you're doing the live versions they are back to back. You will not be disappointed!
This is my all time favorite performance that I have witnessed in my lifetime. Freddie already knew that he had Aids and he jumped deeper into his passion for the music. Queen touches everyone's soul in this song. Listen closely to the passion in his voice. All of Queen fought the fight with him until the end...........Champions indeed and then some.
For a great live performance check out UNDER PRESSURE live at Wembley. I know u reacted to SOMEBODY TO LOVE already but the live version at Montreal is simply perfection I hope u can react to that amazing performance. The best 21 minutes of a concert is Queen at Live Aid '85. Blessings❣
"we are the champions" been played on so many sport events, it is like the Campione song, not many know who made it, but it is sung around the world on football(soccer to USA ppl) stadiums by the audience/fans
The Queen performance at Live Aid 1985 is a must watch. Tickets were sold before Queen committed to play, so it wasn't their audience, though you could never tell from watching.
Bohemian Rhapsody is what you need to hear, if you haven’t. I try to catch all of y’all’s reactions, and hope I didn’t miss one on Bohemian Rhapsody if you did one. Always, love you two! Note: Many times I check into y’all, clicked the “thumbs up,” and didn’t respond in writing.
Just watch the first 10-15 minutes of that Wembley concert - you'll want to watch the whole thing. Pure energy start to finish. It's not the same as watching individual songs.
I love this song, especially it being the last song on the show, and then it comes with all the endings of queen's shows, "God save the queen" to end more amazingly than that, it's just going down in the history of the music like them stayed, and are still!
I've been watching your Queen reaction videos for a while and finally subscribed. I love seeing you enjoy my favorite band. Yes! They were an incredible live band! There are so many wonderful performances to watch. The entire concert at Wembly 1986 is terrific...you can pick any song and not be disappointed. I suggest you react to it all, one or two songs at a time, starting with the opener, One Vision.
Always on radio play this song came after WE WILL ROCK YOU and I believe that was the case during concerts too. They go together and also fairly short songs. Amazing how a song can become part of the fabric of a national experience to the point it's almost subconscious. Thanks for this:-)
This song came out just before I started H.S. and it was our "sports anthem" too! Also their song "We Will Rock You" , led by us cheerleaders, and getting the crowd to sing along before the basketball games started, and everyone stomping their feet loudly in the bleachers (stomp, stomp, clap) to the beat 😀.
Need to do Queen Live Aid .. it’s an unforgettable experience.. need to do the whole segment they did .. broadcasted around the world 🌎 before their was internet or social media .. Legendary 😀🇮🇪👍🏻
Queen never disappoints, and you Asia & BJ never disappoint. Your reactions are so genuine and you both give your viewers an added experience. Thank You
Queen's 20 min performance at Live Aid in 1985 was voted the best live rock performance by any band ever. That still holds true today. If you are looking for life experiences, that would be a good one for your to see. Everyone should experience it at least once in their life. It's just that good! I recommend you watch their 20 min set in it's entirety so you can enjoy the full magic that is Queen. Take it all in. If you don't know, Live Aid was an extraordinary charity event put together to raise money for the starving people in Africa. It was a full day of performances in the UK and U.S, as well as similar events in other countries. Each band got 20 minutes to perform. . There were stop lights at the head of the stage to warn them when their time was up. If they went over 20 min, the red light would go on and the power would go out. Everyone who was anyone donated their time and performed that day but Queen stole the show. It was broadcast live to 1.9 Billion people across 150 nations.. I watched it live on tv at home in the U.S. It was an incredible broadcasting event. Other excellent live concerts for Queen include 1986 Live at Wembley, 1981 Live at Montreal, 1974 Live at the Rainbow to name a few. Queen does not disappoint!
This was the year after Live Aid at Wembley, but this time it was just Queen, no one else. 5 years later, there was a tribute to Freddie there with Queen and guest singers.
You know we will rock you and we are the champions are linked songs. In the late 70s when they were released they were ALWAYS played together! On the album there's only a hairs breath pause between them....
love watching queen live theres always something unique about the different performances either intentional or out of neccessity for his voice dieing lol. But either way it just sounds fire.
Same concert watch one vision, another one the dust, under pressure, radio gaga , love of my life, friends to be friends, and many more in the 86 Wembley concert
That's a hilarious addition to the UK concerts I did not know they did. If that 'God Save the Queen' music is playing, there is a soft obligation to stand and sing it (much like we have for anthems at sports events). And back then, a lot more people would do that. So, by playing it as they leave, they kind of trick their own audience into serenading them off stage. I love it.
To this day I swear everytime I hear Queen on our local Radio I cringe wishing I was sitting in concert watching Freddie & Queen LIVE! !!!!! can’t help as soon as a song plays I’m not in the room I’m dreaming….. All my mum sisters had the pleasure seeing Queen live in NZ in late 70’s so lucky to witness & be apart of that Moment!!!!!! & memories……
I have heard you say they sound like their songs are anthems or chants, and now talking about memories of the songs at sporting events..... You REALLY need to listen to QUEENs We Will Rock You. Stomp Stop Clap, y'all, Stomp Stomp Clap
