1. Their producers didn't want them to do this because it was too long for radio. 2. This was their masterpiece.

This is a musical masterpiece ! Freddie Mercury might be the greatest male vocalist ever !!

I appreciate that you let the song play through to the end without stopping it and trying to analyze after 5 secs, or 30 secs, etc. w/out hearing all the intricacies. When you stop it, you break the continuity and passion, messaging, and just the quality of it in finality that is affecting your body, mind, and soul.

There is some speculation that the lead singer (Freddie Mercury) essentially wrote this as a secret "coming out" song and it delves into his emotions at this time. For example, when he says, "Mama, [I] just killed a man" he's talking about telling his mother about his sexual identity in a male/female world and that by accepting this fact he "kills" his manhood. Likewise, "sometimes I wish I'd never been born at all" also refers to his emotional reaction at being rejected for who he is. He then asks the world to essentially accept him [i.e. "Easy come, easy go. Will you let me go?" with the response by his peers being, "No. We will not let you go."] In other words, they will not accept him for who he is. It's then that he tries to break away from them ["Just gotta' get out, just gotta' get right out of here."] But, even so, he cannot escape who he is and he reluctantly accepts his destiny.

Queen has over 200 songs in their catalog and nearly every one of them is a banger. Queen also has a lot of different styles of songs because every member of the band is a songwriter and each have different tastes in music so you will get everything from Vaudeville, to folk, to ballads, to gospel. to funk, to heavy metal, to speed metal, to soft and lovely and everything in between. You do know Queen songs, you just don't know that the songs are done by Queen, some of the songs have been around for 50 years and the band was together for 20 years until Freddie's passing from AIDS in 1991. After quite a few years of not performing together but having strong solo careers, Roger (drums) and Brian (guitar) began touring again as Queen + Paul Rogers (Bad Company and Free) for a couple tours and then by chance came across Adam Lambert 12 years ago on American Idol and they started touring as Queen + Adam Lambert and will be touring UK and Europe again in a few months, finishing off a tour that was interrupted by the pandemic. John (bass) retired from music after Freddie's passing. Queen has so much great music, you will be going down a deep rabbit hole hearing it. Thank you for an excellent reaction to this iconic song.
@DazzleMonroe

Just for clarity, John Deacon didn't retire after Freddie's passing. He continued to play with Queen for another 6 years.
@sherryheim5504
@sherryheim5504 2 года назад
@@DazzleMonroe Queen really didn't "Play" much during those 6 years other than to record Brian's tribute song to Freddie, the tribute concert and one other performance that included Elton John. However, John did remain very involved in the business end of Queen for those 6 years, though his performing as a musician had nearly stopped with just a few little here and there moments before he announced that he just could no longer do it, he was done and he then retired. Either way, I love and miss John Deacon and wish him the very best in all of his life endeavors. He is still being compensated financially for everything Queen officially does (including any profits they make on their current tour) as he is and always will be 1/4 of the band whether or not he chooses to perform or participate.

Bohemian Rhapsody is the apex of rock opera. This song is a musical roller coaster. An amazing fact about Queens' lead guitarist Brian May. He was actually working on getting his Ph.D in astrophysics when Queen was formed. Music meant so much to him so he put his doctorate on the back burner. After Freddie Mercury died, Queen disbanded. Even while still part of the group Brian and his father designed and built a new kind of guitar. Brian's IQ has been measured in the 160's. That's even beyond Big Bang Theory smart. So he was a real genius on top of being a musical genius. After Queen disbanded, Brian went back to working toward his doctorate. He finally got it in 2006 or 7. He's now Dr. Brian May Ph.D. He's also written about 6 books on the subject of astrophysics. He even works with NASA periodically.

Queen is a British rock group formed in 1970 consisting of: Freddie Mercury - Lead vocalist and piano Roger Taylor - Drummer and vocalist Brian May - Lead guitar and vocalist John Deacon - Bass guitar Queen was one of the most influential groups of both the 20th century. All four members of Queen were not only talented musicians but each one composed music and each of the 4 members wrote songs that became hit. Queen's music continues to influence the artist even today. For example, Lady Gaga acquired her name from the Queen song, Radio Gaga and Vanilla Ice stole the bass riff from the Queen/David Bowie hit "Under Pressure" for his song "Ice, Ice Baby" (there was litigation and Vanilla Ice settled with Queen and David Bowie). Not only did they produce 15 studio albums but they produced many hit singles which I am sure you have heard but were not aware that they were Queen songs. For example, "We Will Rock You", "Another One Bites The Dust", and "We Are The Champions". Queen also traveled the world performing at some of the largest concerts (In Rio, they performed live in front of 250,,000). Their live 20-minute performance at the rock concert "Live Aid" in 1985 is considered the greatest live performance ever. (Live Aid was a worldwide concert of 64+ musical acts designed to raise money to fight the 2-year famine in Ethiopia They performed at Wembley Stadium in front of 72,000 in the audience and nearly 1..9 Billion by Satellite).

I guarantee you have heard tracks and know tracks they did that are used the world over. Have you ever heard "we are the champions" or "we will rock you" and so many more. Welcome to the Queen's world! You can find a huge catalog of their amazing, versatile songs and stunning live performances. You can choose any of them you never won't be disappointed. Let me introduce you the Queen: Freddie Mercury the lead singer and pianist, Brian May the guitarist, John Deacon the bassist and Roger Taylor the drummer, they all were highly graduated. Queen is the most versatile rock band, they wrote their own stuff in several genres from rock to jazz, to pop, etc. about 200 songs. Freddie never took singing lessons, but his powerful and emotional performances are still legendary. Freddie Mercury composed this masterpiece from 3 earlier written and unfinished songs.

Their catalogue is extensive and there will be many songs you've heard before, you just didn't know it was a Queen song. Just to ease you in gently, watch Live Aid 1985, it's 21 mins but you will see the versatility of Queen, the brilliance of Freddie Mercury and above all, what is widely considered the greatest ever concert performance.

You have never heard of Queen before. They were one the greatest bands of all time, Freddie Mercury the lead singer when he performed on stage, he owned the whole stage. He didn't just stand their and sang. Their songs, he used the whole stage. Their songs have been used in films. This song alone was in a famous car scene in Waynes World. if you ever watch the first Highlander film. Pretty much every song in the film is their's. Sadly Freddie died about 20 years ago and Adam Lambert has taken over the vocals on the group. Only 2 of the original 4 perform with him. Freddie actually wrote most of their songs.

You have opened the flood gates! I’ve never heard a Queen song I didn’t enjoy. Some are better than others but no “bad” songs. Recommendations: Somebody to Love (Montreal Live 1982) Live Aid set Bohemian Rhapsody (Montreal Live 1982) White Queen (Odeon)- INSANE piano skills by Freddie. Innuendo, I’m going Slightly Mad, The Show Must Go On, these are the days of our lives, and Motherlove ( Freddie is dying in these songs… leaves out the last verse in Motherlove because he couldn’t finish it, then died before he got back into the studio). Check out the videos as well.. they become abstract in the videos to protect Freddie while he was dying from AIDS. It’s pretty heartbreaking and you can pretty much view his slow decline from healthy rockstar to aids patient, withering away and dying in agonizing pain. It is emotional to watch his health decline and damn devastating when you listen to motherlove.. to hear how he’s struggling to get the words out of his mouth, the strain and his fight to keep doing what he was meant to do… then hearing Brian May singing the final verse knowing it’s Brian singing because Freddie had just died. It’s a lot to process.

•••• I’m watching you watch a video. Sounds ridiculous, but hey, the human race likes to know what the rest of the human race feels about stuff, so, to see you in a reaction channel start to discover music from 50 years ago… It’s actually cool, so now do Prince, Purple Rain… which is only 30-40 years old… which is one of the great live performances that will blow you away even today.

Sadly this was made just a few years before Kurt Colbain's death inspired teen suicides. I loved this song but us mom's didn't understand that kids were listening to the lyrics, not the energy of the song. I was lucky but my son lost a friend.

You really should check out Pentatonix's cover of this song. They are a Capella so no musical instruments but they do a great cover.

So you should really take a look at Pentatonix’s take on this classic, but just so you know, they use nothing but voices and sounds made with the body in their performances, i think you will love all of their work, but that would be a great transition to them
