What makes this so special is that he had a throat infection and was told not to sing, not only did he ignore this advice but he created a legendary performance that will never be matched !! You rule Freddie !!

YUP! I was just was going to say the same thing. Freddie was SO AMAZING even when singing with a throat infection. The world lost a truly gifted artist when he left us. I remember that day when I heard the news. I was driving to the store and it came over my radio. When I got in the parking lot, I just sat in my car and was crying so hard. I was a huge fan of theirs since the beginning. I think it was such a shock to all of us to lose him right after he announced his illness. I think it just blew a lotta ppl away becatse we knew he had AIDS but didn't know he was so far along jn his diagnosis that the end was imminent. His death and a few others are the ones that really touched me. In my mind at least now he's singing with Aretha Franklin who he had said publicly was one of his biggest idols. Rest in Peace Freddie ❤

when you as an artist have achieved the stature, where everyone in the audience is singing your song with you, responding passionately to your direction , and giving as much back to you as you are giving to them in the moment , , then you have effected the world in such a way that is greater than just a pop star...you have achieved the status of legend..global influencer, and have certified your place in the anals of music history along with the greats such as Mozart and Beethoven... these guys are THAT band.

Thank you for doing this!! You have seen the number one rated best live performance by a rock and roll band. It still holds #1 to this day. Queen stole the show. Live Aid was 16 hours of each group having 17 minutes. Freddie is the only front man to hold an audience in the palm of his hand immediately. He’s so charismatic that the entire audience in Philadelphia were clapping their hands in sync during Radio Ga Ga. This concert was to raise money for the starving in Ethiopia. It was televised around the world seen by 1.9 billion people. Needless to say, Queen albums were selling out all over after this performance. Queen wrote all their music. They were not only awesome on stage, they were amazing musicians. I sure hope you all continue the Queen journey. We are a great loyal group of die hard fans.

QUEENrehearse for week before they played live Aid. Each act was given 20 min each. They had a stop light on the stage . Yellow was the caution for not alot of time left. Red meant your done. They practice this t time limit to perfection. They played in stadiums so they knew how to work it. They practice and it took the performance seriously . That's why I love Queen. They give their audiences everything they have and then some. They know people pay good money to see them and that means something to them. THEY will never perform half A. I was nineteen when Live Aid happen. I remember watching this very well.

I feel so lucky I was there. I was 15 two weeks before my sixteenth birthday. I was about half way back in the center. God it was hot and couldn't use a toilet all bloody day. I was meant to see Queen a year later 1986 but unfortunately on the way to the stadium my girlfriend (now my wife) had her bag snatched with the tickets in it and so we never got to go. Another cool thing about Live Aid was that there was a similar event going on in Philadelphia at the same time. Phil Collins performed at Wembley left the stadium jumped on Concord the worlds fastest passenger plane flew to the States and performed in Philadelphia as well. Good times that will live with me forever. Great Video by the way.

Freddie really kept on fighting til the end as he sings in ”we are the Champions”. He wrote and recorded songs with severe pain, without showing anyone how ill he felt, until he couldnt stand anymore. In may 1991 he and Brian recorded ”Motherlove”. In the end of the recording Freddie said he was tired and had to rest. That was the last time Brian saw him in a recordingstudio. Freddie died in his home in Kensington, London surrounded by close friends and his love Jim on the 24th of november 1991.

This isn't actually the last you see of both Freddie and Dr Brian May they come back around 9.45pm with Is This The World We Created, and Freddie did this with a throat infection,I can add that you'll notice that they all look at each other, that's the way they signal how long for a song not, keep it going or just normal time for each one,and they were all about having fun and games especially with the audience, you should look for Freddie impromptu bits or the rock and roll segments from their live concerts, and no two concerts would be the same,he'll always sing something slightly differently, they all sang and wrote the songs, you've got at least 14 albums in Freddie lifetime they've also released solo albums, well Freddie,Brian and Roger, you won't find anything from John Deacon,he retired from the public eye in 1997 six years after Freddie died, but both Dr Brian May and Roger Taylor are on social media platforms

You need to check out the official video to Radio Gaga to see why everyone knew how to clap at the right time. Even though all the tickets were sold before Queen were officially on the bill everyone could sing and clap along to all their songs. This is how popular Queen were in the UK. There is also a video on youtube of a Green Day audience from 2017 in Hyde Park singing Bohemian Rhapsody that will blow your mind. I also recommend some of their earlier live shows like White Queen live at Hammersmith Odeon 1975 and In The Lap of the Gods Live at the Rainbow 1974. These guys were seriously talented! I loved your reactions to this iconic performance! It was great fun to watch it again with you! But this performance was not that unusual for Queen. If you watch any of their stadium concerts, for example Wembley 1986, Budapest 1986, Montreal 1981, they are all of this quality. They all feature stellar vocals, great musicianship, and crowd engagement. I recommend Tie Your Mother Down, live at Wembley 86 for a real banger, and One Vision (same concert)s one of the best concert openers you've ever seen.

There is audio recording of college days before Freddie was in the band. He was hanging out with them and hadn't "found his voice" yet. He recommended a vocal line to them and it sounded like he couldn't carry a tune in a bucket. Once he actually started trying to sing he progressed extremely fast. There is belief that he actually had perfect pitch which helped him progress so quickly. Perfect pitch can be a blessing or a curse. For some with perfect pitch it actually stifles musical progression and creativity. You see it all that time in musical conservatories. Someone will enter a program with perfect pitch and have 0 musical ability because of the way they hear/see notes. For people like Freddy, those with huge personalities, work extremely hard, and put it all on the line to realize their dream; those people become legends.

And Queen saves LiveAid. I watched this on television and believe me until Queen it was bad. Against all odds they saved it. Late addition to the lineup, Freddie had a throat infection and was told by his doctors not to do this but he did anyway. They were actually pursuing solo careers at this time but came together to do this and it brought them back together. This was not a Queen specific audience, some were there to see other bands, and yet Freddie took them over and had them in the palm of his hand. This Is their sweet spot, big stadiums, lots of people, they feed off the energy and are just able to rock it out like no other band. Plus they practiced, that video is available on RU-vid as well, other bands didn’t practice and believe me it showed. Greatest Live performance of all time. 💗

Next time you watch this, look at the front of the stage. You'll see a small box sitting on the ground with green, yellow and red lights on it. Each performance had exactly 20 minutes, and at the end of the 20 minutes the power to the stage would be cut off. Less than a second after their final note, the red light comes on. They had practiced the day before and had it timed perfectly.

Queen's music is literature. It can be taught in text books. A classic, an art. What Beethoven was to symphony, Shakespeare to plays and Milton to poetry, and this is my earnest opinion. They should be included in literature as a Queen of music - by music I mean all genres - first one to inculcate opera in rock - first one to introduce video - first one to conquer large stadiums - first one to be a global icon from the far East to beunos Aires to Africa - first one to walk bare feet - first one to introduce ballet - first one to wear tights - first to cross the borders of eastern Europe - first one to have in a group where all the members had written global hits - and the first and last one to have the audience in the palm of their hands - The only ones to start a group and end with the same members - comes rain or shine - Queen is Freddie, John, Roger and Brian. The first and probably the last to dare confess and keep their oath to the audience "we'll be together until we fuckin die I am sure." The best performers in the history - Live Aid. All of whom were grads. Again I don't have to say the first ever.

You guys mention Freddie being unchoreographed/a free spirit: When he starts that first "AY-OHHH" with the crowd.... Brian May says that the rest of the band did NOT know Freddie was going to do that! So while Brian is back at the speakers w his back to the stage and Freddie lets out that "AY-OHHH", Brian said that he was thinking to himself "Oh, so we're doing THAT, now, are we?!?" ;D

I was 5 years old when this aired, so I obviously didn't get to see it live. However, I have seen it numerous times throughout my life and it gives me chills every time. The kicked the shit out of all the other bands there. In part due to them paying the sound man to turn them up louder, which actually broke the local sound ordinance. They also got to use a lot of their own equipment, something the other acts that day didn't get to do.

You chose the vid without the encore when bri and freddie came out at past 9 both in white long sleeves and performed "Is this the world we created", a song relevant to the event..please also react to that another awesome act...noticed that you cut the ending part which freddie said "So long and goodbye! We love you!"...sooo love it...nice reaction too..fun fact: when they said its live aid, its Queen!..more queen hidden gems please..early queens etc...

Great reaction. No matter how many times I watch it, they always make me smile. Brian & Freddie did an encore later in the evening of “is this the world we created?” They were asked to do that song specifically bc it seemed as if it had been written specifically for the show (it wasn’t 😀) There was always something magical when Freddie, Brian & his 12 string took the stage. I hope you can react to it. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-HOps1vbqEuM.html

There’s a documentary about liveAid on RU-vid, I highly recommend anyone who wasn’t around in 1985 watch it. There’s more to understand about what they were trying to accomplish than just putting on a massive concert.

I was lucky to see Queen live in 1980, Oakland. Freddie had a way of making you think you were the only one there. No one will ever be Freddie. My grandson even knows We Will Rock You! LOL

It's just incredible how the crowd reacts to freddie. They follow what ever Freddie does. They are totally devoted to freddie and freddie is devoted to them. He puts his heart and soul into everything he does he feels the music. God bless you freddie we miss you!

Over 100,000 people at Wembley Stadium... the OLD Wembley Stadium (seated capacity 72,000) were ruled for 21 minutes by a Queen (other than Elizabeth II). It was reported that Freddie wasn't really feeling good at the time, took 3-4 shots of vodka and went out on stage anyway. Since Queen hadn't performed together very much in a while, they stuck to songs everyone would know. It's also reported that as Queen was leaving the stage, the next performer getting ready to go on, the legendary David Bowie is reported to have said, "How the bloody f*ck are we supposed to follow that ?!?!". Sir Elton John apparently chimed in and said, "You know, you just stole the whole f*cking show."
