1 - He had a cold during this performance. That's what Freddie Mercury sounds like with a cold. 2 - That's not 30 Thousand people. That stadium, not including the floor holds 90 Thousand people. So that has to be over 100 thousand people. 3 - Vanilla Ice didn't sample this song. He stole it. To this day he still claims that his version is original because he added an extra note in it. The courts disagreed. 4 - This was in 1986. Bohemian Rhapsody was 1975. So, yeah, the hair is different.

The current Wembley Stadium, which opened in 2007, does indeed have a concert audience capacity of 90-105 thousand, depending on configuration. This concert, however is from 1986 and thus takes place in the old Wembley Stadium (1923-2002). The audience was 72,000 for both the Friday and Saturday concert, ie they played to 144,000 people over two days. This footage is from the Saturday.

Whether people want to call it a sample or not, he definitely used Deacon's bass riff AND you can hear the piano bit from Under Pressure in Ice Ice Baby as well. Many artists are smart to give credit to people that they sample from. Robbie VanWinkle's mistake was trying to deny that he lifted part of this song. He should've just been honest about it.

I still tear up literally thinking about what a tragedy it is for such a talented, lively, kind, and charismatic man to have died so young. I cant imagine what it would have meant for him to see things like gay marriage being legalized, or the breakthroughs we've had--a medicine that prevents hiv from being caught from a partner, medicines that help relieve the symptoms. There's so much progress that pertained to him that makes me want to weep that he wasn't around to see it.

Welcome to the world of Queen. This is from July 1986. Queen was one of the few bands that actually sounded as good or better than their albums. Yes, there were a lot of people at this concert...72,0000. They were all live, no recordings except the Bohemian Rhapsody opera section was recorded because of the multi-tracking. Robert Van Winkle, better known by his stage name Vanilla Ice, wrote "Ice Ice Baby" in 1983 at the age of 16, basing its lyrics upon his experiences in South Florida. The lyrics describe a shooting and Van Winkle's rhyming skills. The chorus of "Ice Ice Baby" originates from the signature chant of the national African American fraternity Alpha Phi Alpha. Of the song's lyrics, Van Winkle stated in a 2001 interview that "If you released 'Ice Ice Baby' today, it would fit in today's lyrical respect among peers, you know what I'm sayin'? [...] My lyrics aren't, 'Pump it up, go! Go!' At least I'm sayin' somethin'." The song's hook samples the bassline of the 1981 song "Under Pressure" by Queen and David Bowie, who did not receive credit or royalties for the sample. In a 1990 interview, Van Winkle said the two melodies were slightly different because he had added an additional note on the "and" of the fourth beat, an anacrusis ("pickup") between odd-numbered and subsequent even-numbered iterations of the "Under Pressure" sample. In later interviews, Van Winkle readily admitted he sampled the song and claimed his 1990 statement was a joke; others, however, suggested he had been serious. After representatives for Queen and Bowie threatened a copyright infringement suit against him, the matter was settled out of court, with Van Winkle being required to pay financial recompense to the original artists. Bowie and all members of Queen were also given songwriting credit for the sample. In December 1990, Van Winkle told British youth music magazine Smash Hits where he came up with the idea of sampling "Under Pressure": Queen usually recorded their concerts. There were 72,000 fans in Old Wembley Stadium in July 1986 for this concert. Please react to Live Aid 1985 Queen stole the show. First, some facts about Live Aid: Live Aid was a dual-venue benefit concert held on Saturday 13 July 1985, and an ongoing music-based fundraising initiative. The original event was organized by Bob Geldof and Midge Ure to raise funds for relief of the ongoing Ethiopian famine. Billed as the "global jukebox", the event was held simultaneously at Wembley Stadium in London, England, United Kingdom (attended by 72,000 people) and John F. Kennedy Stadium in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, United States (attended by about 100,000 people). On the same day, concerts inspired by the initiative happened in other countries, such as the Soviet Union, Canada, Japan, Yugoslavia, Austria, Australia and West Germany. It was one of the largest-scale satellite link-ups and television broadcasts of all time; an estimated global audience of 1.9 billion, across 150 nations, watched the live broadcast. If accurate, this would be nearly 40% of the world population at the time. Unbelievable, just imagine 1.9 billion people watching this performance around the world. It may not have been a Queen audience before the show but I believe, they were Queen fans after the concert. Freddie's voice and his charisma had the audience enthralled. This performance has been voted twice as the best live rock performance of all time and watching it, you can see why. It was the magic of Freddie and Queen putting a spell on all the viewers in this unparalleled performance. These were the days when you went to a concert to actually watch and listen to the artist/artists!!! You didn't stare stupidly into a small screen of a mobile phone and then miss the essence of the band....you watched them....live!!! That's what a live performance is all about!! I feel the current generations miss out on alot of quality interaction with the band, and each other when at live performances. You made friends with those around you whilst rocking out to the music....it was a sort of high you got from all being in the same place to enjoy the same thing...it was an energy exchange of sorts. Miss those days.

Fun fact Brian may the lead guitarist still has that hair but now it’s white he’s also an astrophysicist. The song is actually a duet with David Bowie. You need to look for their live aid performance from 1985 it’s considered one of the best live performances of all time

At some point you guys NEED TO listen to Rage Against the Machine any song of their self titled album or the whole album (every song on it is dope), it’s kinda rap rock with more funk but it would be a smooth transition into the genre and you’ll really dig it, hard to find anyone who doesn’t thanks guys

I agree. They didn't have phones in their hands, they could talk to each other, interact, and really be in the moment. You really just can't when you're looking through a screen. You're there...not as much.

If you think his call-and-response before this song was impressive, watch his mastery of the 72000-strong crowd during the previous year's Live Aid "Radio Gaga" and his "EY-OH" afterward...then remember to pick your jaws up off the floor. It is unrivaled to this day.

I give y'all a lot of respect for watching and listening to Rock tunes and Queen especially. They were one of the best, most original bands that came out of the British rock invasion of the 1970s. I'm an old-timer and I grew up with Queen. To watch y'all give it such an honest listen is really appreciated. Thanks RT TV.

Freddie Mercury is arguably the greatest front man in history. His vocals and stage presence is one of the best of all time to this day. He was a big fan of the Opera, which plays a role in some of Queens songs. I truly wish we knew more about aids in the 80s and early 90s and it wasn't basically a death sentence like it was. He knew for awhile but had kept it under wraps with only a few people knowing like some family and close friends and bandmates, he came forward and talked about it the day before passing away. About 3 years before Eazy E died of it.

To even use the name Vanilla Ice in the same sentence as Freddie Mercury is sacrilege. The opening bass line was created by John Deacon. The song was originally created as a collaboration between Queen and David Bowie. It has an interesting back story. One of my favorites because the message is timeless. Thanks!

I’ve loved QUEEN since I was 14 (a long time ago!). A black girl in NJ, I knew they were good, now I know they were great❣️ Freddie was the man, the other band members are great too, it was just something about Freddie that touched my heart 💗. What a beautiful voice and what a wonderful performer❤️
