I'm 65. My favorite all time performer? REN GILL. He made me cry, made me swear, made me relive every miserable nightmare. And a therapist took notes and gave guidance through all of it. THANK YOU. I am....so much lighter, so much more expressive of love, so much more sensitive to love shown to ME. I RUN to snatch that unknown person from the edge of that dark bridge. I stood there once. This is not schizophrenia. It is the human condition. I'm now a student, and I've learned....way too late in life, to dance. I feel forgiveness and hope. I now see hundreds of people online telling the same kind of story...we held hands over the internet. We moved FORWARD knowing it isn't just us....this is mental health. This is the process of turning your inner demons into sometimes irritating and sometimes useful room mates. And it is never OVER. Until the day you die, you have to THINK. You have to referee, negotiate, ponder, and decide. Consider and learn. Every single day. Commit to it! For decades, if a doctor decided you were "crazy" (hysterical?) and issued us mind numbing tranquilizers. There were volunteer counselors with no background or study to give you a shoulder to cry on. Neither was helpful. I didn't MOVE FORWARD until I got a therapist. Bless Ren, and bless everyone out there who can relate to either.

My thoughts when I first saw this video? This is probably the most profound thing I've ever seen on RU-vid. This Ren guy is going to save lives with this video.
I can vouch for this... not for having my life saved, but definitely for this song pushing me to re-integrate and accept things I had buried from a long time ago... one very bad night in 2014.... In 2023, I sobbed in a way I didn't know I needed to, basically uncontrollably, when I heard the lyric (in 2023) "I'm the voice that you hear when you're loose in the noose on the rope." Never talked about that 2014 experience with anyone until this year (2024)... but seeing Ren's "Hi Ren" made me realize I needed to re-integrate some things I had buried... and knowing his health struggles, his "Patience" has been something of an anthem for me on the days I feel sick from the medicine I'm taking to hopefully rid me of my pituitary tumor. The first time I saw this video I turned it off when he started 'yodeling' at the beginning, because after seeing the crazy room and the guy with the pig mask, I thought it was going to be surreal nonsense. After about a month of seeing multiple thumbnails of reactors to this video with the 'head exploded' emoji, i gave it another go... and my head exploded. Been a HUGE Ren fan ever since.
Im 70 years old, my first reaction was Amazing! I saw my kids in him, understood them more ..he’s a genius. Open your eyes people and step out of your boxes, I sent HI REN to my grown kids ..😊
You just need a little age and experience on you. Many of Ren's fans are older and have personally experienced the challenges he sings about. The challenges control much of pur lives...you'll see Ren's authenticity and courage shine from every word he wrote. He never gave up afteralmost a decade of severe illness, and mistreatment by the mefical community and the added sorrow of lising close friends at a young age. Pain and isolation have shaped his life and art. I find him extremely inspiring.

What did I first think or feel when I saw this video??? It’s been a year and a half since I first watched Hi Ren. I was dumbfounded! I think I had my mouth to the floor the entire time. I have probably watched nearly 100 reactors who were introduced to REN by this major performance and not even a😮 handful have laughed beyond the first stanza. That you do speaks to who you are and your ability to see what other people have had to go through in their lives. About a year and a half ago was the first time i heard this. Laid up with a broken ankle and extra time on my hands. I had fallen out of the music scene (everything all sounelded the same anymore) and im not even sure how i happened upon Ren, but so happy i did! I recall being engrossed in this video, in his other music... i couldn't get enough. I shared it with many friends and family, but they didnt seem interested... i think falling upon Ren organically may be the best intro for most people... or maybe most people are lucky enough to not relate to much of his art, idk. Anyway... i hope to see you dig deeper into the Ren Rabbithole... its deep. 💚

I really enjoy Ren. He is driven, talented, and wise beyond his years. That said, you should look to him for inspiration, because your class clown style reaction was very grating. You did have very few redeeming comments. So, I hope you rewatch your reaction, document those few good moments, and learn how to be a better RU-vidr.
Not one of his awful jokes landed. They all crashed hard. I didn't edit. I stayed till the end but I hated this reaction. However, he apologized for being a complete dickhead so I suppose that counts for something. He came to his senses in the end but he still left a bad taste. Some may have enjoyed this but I won't be rushing back to watch his next Ren reaction.

If you watched to the end you will see him apologize for making light of the song. He earned my respect for such a young man he showed courage admitting his error.
Even before the end, he kept saying that he respected Ren's talent. This video is so different from anything else out there that I think people need to give a little grace. Ren was broke and ill with Lyme disease damage brain and body when this was filmed I know you were joking about the basement 😂 But you were not far from the truth Ren often guerilla filmed without permission and would apologise later if caught!! They were caught by the landlord who demanded they leave because they were making to much noise They had 2 takes and had just got the equipment sorted out Ren begged for 30 more minutes which was what they got 30 plus million views later the 3rd live take out of 4 is what we all have been listening to so thanks to a very kind basement owner😂

Ren play guitar bass drum Piano produces mixes his own beats beatboxes sings and can rap he was in band called the big push he went years misdiagnosed with bi polar chronic fatigue syndrome he had recording deal with Sony why working on his album he got sick and couldn't finish it so he move back to Wales he would become bedridden for up 23 hours a day they had him on meds for bi polar chronic fatigue that caused him to have psychosis he got PTSD too but not from meds it would take years before he would get right diagnosis he has Lyme disease he went so long misdiagnosed that he has Brain damage Organ damage Joint damage he has had 2 stem cell transplants done he been in Canada for past 2 years getting treatment he had to have IV 5 days a week they put this thing on his head that help open path ways in his brain he take hand full meds 2 times a day he also has Mast cell activation syndrome he can only eat a few things because his body has allergic reaction to just about everything he eats he has ADHD too Ren had Number 1 album in UK last year with Sick Boi Ren can do any Gener of music most of his video are live one takes hi ren was live one take they had 3 camera set up recording to get this one take

This is art of transcendent beauty and an *important* song. Artists often struggle with imposter syndrome. There’s a movie starring Olivia Munn called “Violet” that rings of this and was a transformative experience for me-much the same as this song resonates. As a person who’s never been able to escape negative self-talk and imposter syndrome, *realizing* that I can exert the strength that destructive voice questions-strength that already resides within me-was sooo important. It takes time to push past the negativity-to make your own voice stronger, but if anyone out there is struggling with this, please please please *know* that you can do it. *Know* that I believe in you… but you don’t need me to-just like you don’t need the shroud of doubt that feels first of protection and then as a prison. You are *stronger* than that voice. You are stronger than you can *possibly* know… until you push back with softness or aggression-your choice.

There is always a point in a Hi Ren reaction when the smiles and jokes fade and the person reacting focuses on the words. It’s always at a different moment in the song but It’s my favorite part of Ren reactions. The Ren rabbit hole goes deep but so worth it.

One thing I'll say is that I agree with you 💯 on Gen Z, not all but a large group are to lost in their feelings. I don't see you in that category. Being 61 years old and having a vast family after me, that includes everything from babby boomers all the way to our current Gen Alpha, I've seen a lot of change in the world and how things are viewed differently over time. I don't agree with a lot of it, but I keep my hope that at some point, everyone will understand what is truly important in life. That's the first time I heard someone point out "Hi Ren" sounds like "Siren". And then mention the siren sound of the police. You have no idea how amazing it is that you made those connections. I love it! If you listen to more of his stuff you'll see what I mean; sirens are key in a couple of his song. (And re: this being in your basement -- he and his crew actually were in an abandoned building and the owner came and made them leave. He only got 2 or 3 takes, I think, and when they wrapped he was depressed that he had not done the job. Luckily was able to get exactly what he needed.) Great reaction, thanks.
You are young and I believe you were sincere when you apologized. I suggest you watch it again and really listen to it. I also think you should watch his interview with Justin Hawke. It will tell you about the what he has been through. Also his video Troubles will do the same. I have subscribed and am looking forward to more Ren reactions.

I believe the first time I watched this, my chin was on the floor the whole time. When I could think again, I thought this is the greatest work of art I've ever witnessed. I think I watched it about ten times in a row. I still think it's one of the best things I've ever seen. Recommendations probably depend on what type of music you prefer. Rap: The Hunger, Losing It. First time I have heard of him, Complete the Rapper from Australia did a very similar song called " Jordan " a few years ago, same thing, inner mind talking to himself similar lyrics!
To be honest... the first time I saw this... when he started his "ooh ooh ooh" in the beginning, I was like wtf! 🤨 and turned it off! Lol I went back about a week later when I saw it was blowing tf up.... and I never looked back ❤ now it's my favorite reaction to watch!
