My daughter was in school with Ren here in North Wales 🏴 prior to him moving south. He has had a lot of obstacles put before him health wise as I’m sure you will find out in the fullness of time. There are so many truly brilliant Ren songs, not only does he sing and raps to them, he is a multi instrumentalist, he mixes and produces all his own stuff. He is an independent artist so has no label backing yet his album Sick Boi made number 1 in charts last October. In addition to all this there are many videos of him busking with his former band The Big Push, collaborations with Bibi, Eden Nash, Chinchilla, Prof, Chris Webby and the list goes on. You will hear the term Bardcore used to describe his art, I recommend you strap in and listen to the trilogy of Jenny’s Tale, Screech’s Tale and Voilet’s Tale. Please they must be watched in that order and I believe you will find a link to all three together in one download. Final thought it’s great to hear your reactions particularly, not because I have a dislike of Americans in fact the opposite is true, it’s nice to hear a British perspective that’s all and you’re doing a great job

REN’s early stuff is still standing the test of time “ Trick the fox “ was the band Then he fell ill after signing a deal with Sony and with nhs how it is they missed diagnosed him for 8 yrs. he then made another band from buskers from Brighton called “ big push “ must check them out. Then they broke up for different reasons but still close friends. Ren went to Canada for treatment and 18 months later returned to Brighton. I just saw your Hi Ren reaction, and put this journal entry of Ren's as my comment to that reaction. jAN 01, 2023~~~rEN~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Up until I was 9 years old, I would intermittently hear a voice in my head that was not my own. The voice was distinctly different to mine, and always negative. It would self criticize or urge me to do things I knew to be morally wrong. The most peculiar thing about the voice was that it took no effort on my behalf to produce. My own thoughts always felt like there was a process that required effort to bring them to the forefront of my mind, this voice appeared as though it was spoken by another. The sentences felt predetermined like they had already been constructed. I remember very vividly at 9 years old, becoming very frustrated with the voice. I stood in my back yard, internally screaming at the voice to be silent again and again, and it did. In a flash there was silence, to the point where my head felt like an empty room. I wasn't used to the quiet and that voice never returned. It almost felt lonely in my head. When I got older I had intermittent bouts with auditory hallucinations where I would hear perfect symphonies, usually at night when drifting off to sleep. They were so clear that they sounded like they were emanating from a radio in the corner of my room. I knew they weren't there, but for some reason they never came with the feeling of fear. I also recall sitting on a bus at the age of 15, and hearing the sound of a crowded room, with about 100 voices chattering away, I was the only person apart from the driver on the bus. These experiences were always very brief, and few and far between. My last hallucination was during an intense bout of psychosis in 2015, and was my first visual hallucination. I was walking down a pavement after jumping out my mums car in a crossroads in a moment of frustration and distress with my condition. I was trying to run from myself. What appeared to be a homeless man with a dark complexion approached me, and asked me what was wrong. I explained that I had been sick most my life, and I wasn't sure I had the strength to continue. He looked at me, and smiled and told me 'everything is going to be okay in the end Ren.' I had not told him my name. There was something so overpoweringly sincere about this very simple message, which brought with it an overwhelming feeling of inner peace, and in a flash, he vanished. My rational brain always linked these experiences to what the doctors have told me, that there are parts of my brain compromised by the autoimmunity in my body. That the myelin sheaths surrounding the complex electrical system that conduct my thoughts were damaged and compromised, causing these lucid experiences that I knew did not exist inside the physical world. The part of me that edges away from logical and rational thought always attributed these thoughts to some kind of otherworldly intervention, that made my thoughts the battleground of some spiritual tug of war. For a long time I never really acknowledged this part of myself, for with it brought the danger and stigma of sounding like a crazy person. I decided with my latest release, to the best of my ability, to capture and express this chess match of thought. Hi Ren comes out in just over 24 hours. I can't wait for you all to hear it.
I appreciate that you actually listen and absorb rather than feel the need to constantly interrupt to put yourself in front of the artist. I feel that allows us, as the viewers, to fully take in your reactions through your non-verbal communication. The very first song on his Sick Boi album us called Seven Sins. It literally took my breath away. It is also one of HIS favorite songs! He said it was supposed to be a minute and a half intro...but he got carried away 😂 put your seat belts on.

Disputed because it is totally wrong. There are cuts all through the video, hand placement, mic placement, gown length, plus the fact that all the hand held stuff is from a seperate take besides the four full runs throughs. The cuts are plain to see for those prepared to see. The video is an amalgam of all four takes plus extra hand held footage. This doesn't take away from the song being a work of art but it does diminish his actual one take videos. Good on you for posting links though.

Also the fact there are cuts makes it not a one take at all. So I stand corrected on the one-take but it took 2 takes but it sounds like only the end had the second take.
@@NightFogFilms I know all about Sams comment. It is incorrect. Yes it is live. No dispute, but the video is an amalgam of the four takes. I am a 40+year imaging specialist and I only need to use my eyes. If you can't see the cuts it is because you are not looking. The fact that there are scenes next to each other with different gown lengths at the beginning should be enough. Or the appearing and disappearing mic (no not the ones where it flips out of sight) or the different hand positions on the guitar. Remember, Ren edited the video, not Sam. Also see Rens interview with the Charismatic Voice where he states the video is spliced together from the four takes. Starts at about 2:15:00 in the interview.
Brief Ren bio: at 17 he contracted Lyme disease...was MIS-diagnosed with "mental" problems...given psychotropic meds that wrecked his physical and mental health...luckily, he received the correct diagnosis...has been in treatment for years and may be for life ...........thank you for your comments ! I think the Pig/Butcher represents Ren's opinion of many doctors and therapists......the discordant guitar & vocals and the wildly blinking lights express Ren's internal chaos.......

So you see, the feature he did with Webby was easy peasy for Ren. He is a full blown musician that plays multiple instruments like a master, can sing any genre like a beast and has a big range, story teller (bard cord) and can rap damn good as well. What does Rens songs sound like? The only answer I can say is masterful. You absolutely never know what you're going to get next. It can literally end up being any genre yet no genre at all at the exact same time the only thing that stays the same as everyone is masterful and will make you feel something

One thing to keep in mind listening to this, is that it's this song that blew him up, although he had years and years of making and living music. So in some ways this song didn't age so well (Ren's own words), in other ways I think it's a timeless piece of art. Anyway, this is just to help you to understand, that his circumstances when he wrote this were very different, although I think he is the exact same guy. But where he is has changed a lot.
