***FIRST TIME HEARING*** REN - MONEY GAME PT. 1 / 2 / 3 - DON'T BE A SYSTEMIC ZOMBIE!!! - REACTION 

A lot of people miss it but the hostage man wasn't fighting back until he drew eyes on them. Then when he was about to pour the gas on him he used his guitar to stop him and that made him rethink his decision because it was finally a human he was looking at

"Being present in the moment" rather than chasing the "thing" is such a good take away. Kudos.

In MG1 Ren plays 2 parts, the narrator and the ones that are in Power, the ones that bind us and hold the rest of us 'hostage". They (the powerful) are the puppeteers and we the puppets. Ren wants us to open our eyes and see things for what they are. (Drawing of the eyes). He then looks at himself in the "mirror" and as a symbolic gesture, destroys it by burning it. 😊

The humming Ren does in pt 1 is played briefly by a violin towards the end of 3, and the chorus "Rain, rain, rain, rain. A storm it comes our way.." is turned into literal rain at the end of 3. Absolutely genius!!! And there is ONE CUT in 3, behind the wheelchair. No others. 💜

Watch the 35 minute chat he had about Kujobeats in order to find out the context of Kujo Beatdown. It will answer all the questions, and make sure you get why Ren is so mad, who the players are, etc.

Did you know Ren wrote all the musical parts (piano and strings) for MG3 (with exception to the very first bit of piano, which I've heard is Grieg? As a parent myself ..this song makes you uber aware of what you are teaching your kids. Seven Sins after the Kujo one. Oh! And when you watch MG3 back...try to notice how Ren snuck in the chorus from Mg1 and 2 without actually singing it. 🤯

In MG1, I believe, Ren's bandmate Romain represents the money game. So at the end of the song instead of taking out the money game, Ren decides to take himself out of the money game.

Fun fact, Money Game part 1 took something like 180 takes before they got it right all the way through in a single shot. Not sure what time they started, but Ren is was about 7am when he poured the "petrol" (really vegetable oil) over himself at the end of Money Game Part 1 Other one shot songs are Hi Ren, each song in The Tales series, Blind Eyed (ft Angry Car Park Attendant), and I think that's it off the top of my head. Money Game part 2 officially has one cut (just before the sprinklers, but there's an obvious cut at the mirror scene that Ren has never acknowledged, for some reason...)

The way I took MG1 is that the “hostage” is us and Ren is the power. Through the whole song the hostage is blind to the power. The power can do as he wants as there are no consequences to his actions. No one is looking at him specifically and judging him. Then when he draws the eyes on him he can see what he is about to do and is ashamed. So instead of burning the whole world he burns himself instead. That’s how I take it 🤷‍♂️

All three in one sitting is quite a feat. Kudos to you. Ren's ability to tell a story about a subject so deep still amazes me. He is wise beyond his years. There is a BTS video on Wolf Johnson's channel of how they did MG3 in one shot - the coordination and planning it took. Excellent reaction!

Ren was on the Sky Arts awards show tonight and he performed Money game pt2

MG1 he kept going to punish the guilty but realized he is just as guilty so offed himself. MG2 he was preaching to the choir I think. Timing is impeccable really. MG3 Genius. We gotta raise our kids better, do better ourselves, elect better representatives or get involved, and call out hypocracy when we see it.

Here’s my interpretation of the hood in MG1. The hooded person is the masses, play (literally playing guitar) the game blindly. Ren himself represents two different things. 1. He is the game or the people controlling the game. He has the blind masses all tied up. He controls them. He decides when it stops and start again. He’ll roughen them up from time to time. 2. Ren, as the one singing, is also a witness, exposing the game. When Ren gives eyes to the hooded guitar player, he makes the masses aware of the game. And as we gain awareness, the game or the people controlling the game have less power over us. We can decide not to play, or play on our terms. We can use the tools we have to derail or redirect it. The self-immolation at the end, for me, shows that the money game is basically self destruction. Or maybe that the awareness will lead to its self destruction. I love this trilogy so much ❤

The line "she sells seashells on the sea shore" from part 2 in a famous British tongue twister/ joke. You say to someone "she sells seashells on the sea shore. How many times is the letter S in that?" They count all the times the letter s was used and you say, no, there's aren't any... T. H. A. T. It's a dumb kids thing... However...There is a story behind it... There was a woman called Mary Anning. She basically found Dinosaur fossils but didn't get the credit when she was alive because she was a woman and the credit went to male scientists who went to visit her. Finally, the whole tongue twister is; She sells seashells on the seashore The shells she sells are seashells, I’m sure So if she sells seashells on the seashore Then I’m sure she sells seashore shells.

For MG1, I’ve always seen the faceless guitar player as representing society. Once he had vision he was an individual, not the faceless ‘them’ that were to blame, so Ren ended himself since he was just as guilty.

Re:MG1 ending. I think he represents himself blaming others for the miney game, for being blind to the money game and wants to punish them, and then he turns the mirror on himself and sees that if he wants to punish anyone, he has to punish himself. Reminiscent of the end of Sick Boi

One interpretation is Sack man had no eyes at the beginning so was blind to the money game but once Ren gave him eyes then he could see the money game in Ren so Ren took himself out of the game. Ren leaves it up to your own interpretation.

If you rewind a little, after pausing, you won't miss anything. :) You missed some great lines and moments by not doing so. Ditto speaking over lines and moments. Always best to pause if you have something to say. Especially with an artist like Ren. Speaking for a few seconds over the top of Ren, can mean you missing out on genius level lyrics, maybe even the pivotal lines of the song. You really don't want to miss out on that! I'm not a big ren fan. I'm still waiting for the Angelina Jordan demo I requested. You didn't mention it in this reaction. You said you had a list of songs to react to but not the one I mentioned. I also mentioned three other artists and you haven't reacted to any of them yet.
