Sorry if I offended anyone by using the “N” word. It’s part of my culture and how I talk. Nothing personal at all. Had a few negative comments and felt I needed to apologize.
For those of us who came up through the sixties and seventies with all the racial hatred it's hard to hear the "N" word. I at least understand that times change and slang does too, gay used to mean happiness now it's homosexual no problem with that. I don't like the confederate flags either but they still have them in my area. Good or bad people are people and we share space with them. Peace and love are good mottos to go by.
I can't help smile watching you getting into this old music. You have no idea how much it is out there for you to discover! The 60's and 70's were the golden age of rock. Your generation has really missed out.
They are not brothers. Bill Medley is the baritone. Bobby Hatfield is the tenor. The greatest duo of the '60s. Bobby passed away in 2003. Bill Medley is still with us. He is 83. They were referred to as Blue-Eyed Soul.
The definition of "Blue-eyed Soul". "Soul and Inspiration" is another of their big hits. Bobby's solo performance of "Unchained Melody" is a staple of music reactors, and Bill singing "I Want To Make Love to You" is guaranteed to to make any woman hot and bothered. Brothers in song, not blood.
Yo that "Blue Eyed Soul" is a corny way to give these white dudes love, what if they were Brown eyed fellas????? Soul ain't a color or race, cause not all blacks have soul, right??? Ok so it's a gift ,it's a gift that id say every singer singer WISH they could produce but it just don't happen, you can't train your body or practice enough in capture soul, you either born wit it on not, don't matter what church or bar b q they attend,it's a dumb shit to think a certain culture wants to claim "soul" get the hell out of here with that, cause growing up Bobby Caldwell is definition and face of Soul and he white ass Casper, just heard that Stapleton guy a week ago and his voice will lock your soul up when he is sangin,we gotta stop that claiming shit when it's a born st birth gift and that's exactly that
Back in the Day(1960s) we had more Soul Music than you could shake stick at. Righteous Brothers, Motown, James Brown, Curtis Mayfield and The Impressions, Sam Cooke, Isley Brothers, Ray Charles, Wilson Pickett, Tom Jones, Delfonics, Aretha Franklin, Sam and Dave, etc.
This was the most played song of the entire 20th century. It will live forever. Please check out "See That Girl" by Bill Medley alone then Unchanged Melody by Bobby Hatfield alone. You'll see why they're so good together. I got to see them in concert shortly before Bobby died. They were just as good live as they were on records.
@@DexTVReactsThe boys never made a bad record, either together or individually, the words, the music, the backing, everything just gelled to make a perfect listening experience, you have so much to look forward to if you keep listening to the Brothers. Soul and Inspiration, Rock n Roll Heaven, Little Latin LoopyLou,. Personally, if I was forced to choose one singer to listen to forever, it'd be Bobby, he never neglects a single note and his range is phenomenal, Unchained Melody, Ebb Tide, If I Ruled the World, Summertime, just to mention a few.
I was 18 yrs old when this song came out. Yes, I'm getting pretty damned old! Something to understand is that live performances & TV were the only way you actually saw artists back then, No computers, no cell phones, no videos no social media. Most people had only heard them on the radio. When they appeared on TV, many were shocked that they were white. That's when the term "blue-eyed soul" was invented. I'm so glad someone introduced you to them.
Definitely check out “Unchained Melody” and “Soul And Inspiration”. They were magnificent. They are not actually brothers. Before they became big stars, they were singing together at a club, and someone said to them “man that was really righteous”. That’s where they got their name.
If you react to Unchained Melody be sure to select this longer version because there's some fun back and forth with host Andy Williams .ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-m0EBs6uRgtw.htmlfeature=shared@@DexTVReacts
I grew up listening to this music and the Righteous Brothers (who were not real brothers) were special singers. They got their name as the story goes when they were performing in a club and a black marine hollered out after their performance "that was righteous brother". I listen to many reactions from young folks like yourself on the music I grew up with and it makes me feel so good that you all appreciate the quality. At the time I took it all for granted because there were so many really good singers and groups, but I have developed a newfound love thanks to these reaction videos. Your reaction was great.
Great Reaction. It may be the most “Honest” Reactions I’ve seen. The Righteous Brothers were amazing. I was lucky enough to grow up with this type of music. Yep he 60s , 70s had the best music ever
I appreciate that. I love good music. Righteous Brothers are amazing. They don't make music like this no more. Give me some more Righteous Brothers songs to react to!
Also check out the Righteous Brothers and the Blossoms jamming on a Ray Charles song - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-uM-4CUzpjJU.htmlfeature=shared. Just great! Bill Medley, the tall one with the deep voice, is still performing at age 83 (and I’ll be in the audience this week!). Bobby Hatfield passed away in 2003, not long after they were inducted into the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame.
I’m so Happy your appreciating ABSOLUTE BLUE EYED SOUL👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 I grew up with such Majestic Music with these guys,Elvis,Dean, Tom,Frank,Smokey,Stevie,Ray,& Sam Cook,😇 Music sung by Natural Raw, no technology,no circus stuff goin on,,, just BEAUTIFUL MUSIC knows No color,,, close your eyes & the music Touches your Soul & you get true Goosebumps 💜
I love your enthusiasm for my favorite group of all time. Check out Bobby's solo of Summertime. Bill does a solo of Brown Eyed Woman. Neither will disappoint.
Most people go with tenor Bobby Hatfield's 'Unchained Melody" which is his solo performance (and awesome) but if you want something with some grit try bass Bill Medley's 'I Just Want To Make Love To You' it's a real banger.
When Elvis Presley first started only a few radio stations would play his music, because many stations refused to play him because they thought he was black ( yes, it was back in those days ) !
You should also check out a solo song done by Bill Medley (the tall guy) called “Brown Eyed Woman” which tells the story of him trying to romantically pursue a black woman.
It is such a delight to watch a younger generation appreciate music from the past. So much more out there for you to discover - lots of great shit out there, lol - enjoy!!!
Thats cool that you knew them! They make great music! So different from the music we hear today. I've never heard anything like them. Rip Bobby! What song of theirs should I react to next, Mrs. Duncan?
I’m not offended, it is part of culture. ( I’m a white baby boomer 🤗!). This song as well as Unchained Melody came out in the mid 60’s and we were crazy about these wonderful singers, they drove galscrazy and all the guys wanted to sing like the Righteous Brothers!! They began a type of music called Blue Eyed Soul ❤️💎🥰 I’ve been a Motown girl since this time and the blue eyed soul drove me crazy too , sending love from 🇨🇦 Canada ☮️
The Righteous Brothers are icons. Bill Medley is the one with the low voice and Bobby Hatfield is the one with high voice. Bobby passed away some time ago. Bill Medley is still alive and still singing, He did the song in Dirty Dancing I Had the Time of My Life. He sang it with Jennifer Warnes. I love this song. Love your reaction!
They are not related. They got their name when performing at a military base and some African-American Marines shouted out "you sound righteous, brother!" They liked it so the name stuck. This song was produced by Phil Spector who, up to that time, only produced songs by black artists. The Righteous Brothers became Spector's first white vocal act. Fun fact: one of the female background singers was 18-year old Cherilyn Sarkisian. Today you probably just know her as Cher. If you like this song, you would really enjoy Soul and Inspiration. It was written as a follow-up to the success of this song by the same writers and peaked at #1 for three straight weeks in 1966. BRO, First time seeing your Channel. If you will react to some of the "oldies but goodies", I'm right there with you! I might be Minnesota's biggest ELVIS fan, and will listen to your thoughts after playing your ELVIS reactions. I have a couple suggestions for you, ELVIS has more than 800+ recordings spanning almost every genre of music. How about, from the 1968 Comeback TV Special, "Trying To Get To You"; and "Trouble/Guitar Man" for starters. The Righteous Brothers are excellent talents, remember there was no autotune back in the '60s and '70s. Subscribed to your Channel! THANK YOU!
I was not offended when you called them niggas, I actually take that as a compliment, People really take things too seriously if they get mad about that. Whereas I realize when you said it you meant they were really good!
Ahhhhh, another Righteous Brothers fan is born! The tall drink of water with the lower voice is Bill Medley, the shorter guy with the higher voice is Bobby Hatfield. No, they are NOT brothers by blood. This video was taken back in 1964. Bobby Hatfield passed away in 2006, Bill Medley I believe is still alive in his 90s
Most black people thought they were black until they saw this on live tv. Hope you realize how many movies had this song somewhere in the movie. One great movie is top gun starring a young tom cruise.
Bobby Hatfield had a very rare voice for a man called a called a countertenor. It's equivalent to a high soprano. He had a 4.5 to 5 octave range. He'd probably still be alive if not for a cocaine induced heart attack in 2003.
This video has the studio recording replacing the live audio. This is the actual live performance from January 1965 on Shindig, a weekly live music program. They were regulars on the show. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-03iSUjHaUxY.htmlsi=TGnvROyx-pLzAgZg
🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦 Love your reaction 👍🏻 Really like to see your reaction to " ST-Paul and the Broken Bones "live studio version of the song 🎵 Grass is Greener 🎵 You're gonna love this one, too Keep the good work, my friend ✌️ 👍🏻 👏
The thing is, "bring back that loving feeling" fades in from black to reveal the early 60's once again. It grows brighter and the stage behind filled with singers swaying comes into focus. Then as quickly as the vision opened...it once again slowly fades to black, not to be seen again.
If you like blue-eyed soul, check "Fooled Around and Fell in Love" by Elvin Bishop, live on Midnight Special it's lit, thanks. And don't forget The Beatles doing "Don't Let Me Down", live on the roof, their last public appearance, 1969. You will crave both numbers!!! New sub, thumbs up!
Thank you for listening to my guys. I was 15 years old when I heard them on the radio. They were awesome when they came out in 1964. As a teenager in that time period how could you not fall in love with this blue eyed soul. ❤
To blow yourmind, check out their version of "I Just Wanna Make Love to You" song by Bill Medley ( the tall one) with a little help from Bobby Hatfield (the blond brother).
This was very refreshing to see, I loved your authentic reaction, after all it was your first time hearing this wonderful music. Totally understandable. And in case you'd like to check out more great music and wonderful artists from the same time period as The Righteous Brothers then give this one a listen "Tom Jones & Stevie Wonder Medley - This is Tom Jones TV Show 1969" (by the channel: Tom Jones) they are performing in front of an audience but the show is being taped and the audiences were told during this era to only clap when they are told. (totally deferent times back then) but I think you will enjoy the performance and you might want to have the lyrics just in case you need them. I find it always makes the song more enjoyable when you know what's being said. (not being critical just MO) Great reaction, thanks for sharing peace out~
Not brothers... Bobby Hatfield High and Bill Medley Low - Try Soul and Inspiration next... Your ass belongs to us (60's) but I'm glad you're here to carry it on... Peace
No - Bill Medley & the late Bobby Hatfield weren't related. They said that they'd had trouble thinking of a name for their act. Because videos weren't a thing back then people hearing them on the radio thought they were black. At one of their shows an audience member called out that they were "Righteous". Conversely, people thought the late, great Charlie Pride was white.
Ps - Listen to their song "Soul & Inspiration". However, in light of your ex, don't listen to Home Free's song "Love Me Like That" or Austin Brown's "If I Met You Now".
Ayyyee… Lol🙌. Nah they’re not brothers, and this song is from the 60’s. Listen to “Unchained Melody” by them (The little guy is singing in that one alone), it’s one of the greatest performances ever frfr, no autotune and all that just straight voice💪.
Listen to Bobby solo 'Summertime" he rips his talent also Ebb Tide, You'll never walk alone, Your my soul and inspiration, Bill sing with Bobby "I just want to make love to you".
Check out the song I just wanna make love to you by the Righteous Brothers also Unchained Melody. The were not brothers. I just discovered them a week ago. I love them
Great reaction. Being that you’re in the 60s you Need to check out some Elvis Presley if you ready to be blown away. Bridge over troubled water, if I can dream, just pretend are some of my favorites vocally.
High school hoodie party #1 song. Get that girl to grind up on your leg. Yeah. This was when sex really became the monster. Check out their “soul n Inspiration my bro. Liked how you reacted. Ur mature. This song bitched slapped a lot boys into men. T. U. D. Rod rig….
They are not brothers. They are from southern cal and back in the 60,s, there were many Black Marines listening to their style of singing. After their performance, they yelled out Righteous Brothers
