Shoshana is a broadway star and jazz vocalist. She took over the lead in Wicked after Idina Menzel left. The performance of Make It Rain was just a venue she was performing at. You have to check out I Did Something Bad with Cynthia Erivo. It's A Taylor Swift cover.
Oh, I wanted to name drop another power house vocalist, Cynthia Erivo, who Shoshana also has several duets with. Cynthia has been lauded with so many awards and is simply stunning. Would love to see you react to her as well 😁
Cynthia Erivo and Shoshana both have incredible voices and technique. But what sets them both apart from other great singers is their ability to use it in the service of a story to create an emotional cyclone.
Side note - your lighting is on POINT. Makes your green screening completely crisp. No green-bleed, no fuzzy edges. Only achievable with the right lighting. *chefs kiss*
Shoshana has such incredible power and control of her vocals. So amazing. I would love to see you react to her singing, “She Used to Be Mine” from the Broadway production, ‘Waitress’. She actually starred in this role for awhile and completely embodies the character. The way she emotes in this particular video is very moving. This was a whole concert. I love her. Shoshana has been around since the 90's. I love her as a jazz vocalist first, then her Broadway songs and Performances. There are a lot of both kinds of videos available. Thx for reacting to this. She put every ounce of herself into this performance 😎
This was a concert to promote her most recent (full) album, Spectrum (which is a mix of covers, including this one, and originals). I co-signed comments on your Superfruit video asking you to check this out and I just had to subscribe bc I'm so impressed that you got to it so quickly...loved this reaction! And yeah, she has an impressive Broadway background - she's an incredible storyteller and actress - but some of my favorite videos/performances are of her original music and her collabs with people like Cynthia Erivo, Amber Riley, Avery Wilson, etc.
Her collab with Amber on Never Loved a Man is a) vocally out of this world - as you might suspect - and, b) a really good time. I love their on-stage rapport
Yes you have to listen to She Used to be Mine, her Broadway Club performance. It’s just her a keyboardist, she sings with out the jazz influence and with just a crazy amount of emotion. It’s unreal.
Hey Salvo, I enjoy your reactions and also enjoy Celine Dion and have seen her in concert. However I don't see any comparison. I'm not a big fan of comparing singers anyway, but when you do, you can't just listen to power or even tone ... but rather style seems much more important. This song is by a Northern Irish artist named Foy Vance. He was signed to Ed Sheeran's label and in 2014, Ed Sheeran released a version of this song, but rather than the original blues style of Vance, Sheeren gave it more of an angsty rendition. However, as you can tell by listening, this version is much more gospel, blues, jazz. I'm not overly familiar with Celine's discography other than her top hits, however I have never heard her sing anything close to this style. If you know of any Celine songs in this style, I would really be interested in knowing about them because I would love to hear one. Keep up the great reactions! ☮️
This is fantastic! She's such a powerful singer. I think you should have a listen to Post Modern Jukebox (featuring Haley Reinhart) and their cover of Creep. It's not like you've ever heard it and my god you'll fall right on the floor and flop around a little, and then melt! Here's the link. I hope you react to it! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-m3lF2qEA2cw.html
Sorry, last comment lmao but you said Celine is one of your favorite vocalists. In that case, Apia Toscano will make your list. She has SUCH a similar sound, same power. Let me grab a link. Here she is with a Celine song. That David foster wrote. That he’s playing the piano for here. So you know she has to be spectacular. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-7-kfJgQKHrE.html
Throwing in a suggestion. There is a duet she does with Scott Hoying called "All to Me" (Shoshana Bean Original) which I think you would enjoy. ( ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-uIlCpj-HJKo.html )
