Steppenwolf was a Canadian-American rock band from 1968 to 1972. Their biggest hits were "Born To Be Wild", "Magic Carpet Ride" & "Rock Me" but other songs are "Straight Shootin’ Woman", "Hey Lawdy Mama", "Who Needs Ya", "Move Over", "Monster" etc. Both of their songs "Born To Be Wild" & "The Pusher" were used prominently in the 1969 cult film "Easy Rider".
That’s always been a favorite of mine! I remember being a 6 year old little girl in 1969, listening to my big sisters’ records, sitting on a little rug on the floor and soaring above the clouds to Magic Carpet Ride! Great memory! ❤️
JOHN KAY IS THE SINGER. WATCH THE OFFICIAL VIDEO TO HEAR IT AS IT SHOULD BE HEARD, NOT WHEN THE BAND HAS BEEN DRINKING. THEY WERE HARD PARTIERS IN THE DAY. I WAS A TEENAGER DURING THEIR HEYDAY. WE ALL NEW THEY WERE WILD.
John Kay, the lead singer, is known for those black leather jeans! I've seen them 7 times & he always wore them. At one show I was on the front row & he took a drink of whiskey from a bottle & handed it to me. I was drinking beer but I took a drink & gave it back.
The singers name is "John Kay" and he was born in Germany. He choosed the name "John K." as his real name would be kind of difficult for the americans/canadians: "Joachim Fritz Krauledat" ^^+g Btw.: He made music after Steppenwolf as an solo artist... very great music! I love his album "Heretics and Privateers" from 2001.
Hell ya to being the first to sing the phase (HEAVEY METAL THUNDER )!!! Need to do original from 1968 ... Also requesting to do a band called THE IDES OF MARCH song VEHICLE !!
Hell yeah, this is a great song (personally prefer the studio version, though). Check out the movie "Easy rider", it's a great show about that culture. Another great song by them is "Don't step on the grass, Sam" (take a wild guess what it's about :P )
Every road trip I went on for decades, this was on the play list as well as a few more songs listed below by others. It set the mood just right.🏍🚙 Thank you for reacting to this song, hope you check out a few suggestions, I will be waiting!
You should watch the 1969 video when the song was released You you would see the youthful Steppenwolf.John Kay was the coolest. They know how to rock the house."Magic Carpet Ride."
His name is John Kay great singer, great voice in my opinion. This, and Magic Carpet Ride were both huge hits for them in 68. That's more psychedelic, I prefer that but dug both. Was a great time listening to music in the late 60s.
great reaction. lots of fun to watch this. so much energy & passion & musicianship! - altho I admit to liking the studio album version a bit better, just because.
This is John Kay with a bunch of younger guys - not the band. Really should do the OG band. Try Gang War Blues - still relevant. Also Nina Simone covered The Pusher as well as Steppenwolf - both are great versions !! Peace
The next one you need to do by Steppenwolf is "Magic Carpet Ride" studio version. Here it is: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-U4WiyxXpyZc.html Also you should redo "Born to be Wild" and do the studio version. Much, much better than the live one you did.
since your doing a song by steppenwolf next do a song called Hawkwind - Steppenwolf ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-TlRKOF_iZzA.html not related to the band or about the band
