I was so thrilled when I heard Steve Perry was finally putting out new music. His last solo album was in 1994 and his last Journey song was in 1996. It wasn't until 2018 that he released his album 'Traces.' He was basically retired from music for 24 years! I think he still sounds great and there are a number of wonderful songs on 'Traces' worth checking out, such as 'We're Still Here' and 'No More Cryin'.'

You should give a listen to "Strung Out". I think you'll really dig it! I agree. Steve could sing the phone book and I'd cling to every word. Lol

Steve Perry was 69 years old when this song was released. He was born in 1949, and the "Traces" album was released in 2018. His voice is amazing, especially when you remember the fact that he's nearly 70 years old here - and this is 37 years after the 1981 "Escape Tour: Live in Houston" tour. Thirty-Seven. Years. Later. This song was written for his girlfriend Kellie, who died of cancer. ADogg, I love your reactions! If you want to see a VERY stripped down, no instrument - except Steve Perry singing by himself in his home studio video - please check out "In My Room," a cover of the Beach Boys that he did informally during the pandemic. It was released in 2020. Such a gentle man, you can really see his sensitivity and his vocals here, at 71 years old. It's as if he's just singing to you one-on-one in his home. At the end, before he clicks off, he whispers "Hang in There." Such a sweet man, giving us all comfort and the gift of his talent during the pandemic.

That hat he picked up, I’ve seen him wearing that in old 80’s interviews. That had to have been intentional in that video. That song he has said has double meaning. It’s a song about two people who meet again at a high school reunion, but also is about his meeting his fans again after a long time being “invisible” (his word, not mine.)

He was 70 when he recorded this album and he's got short hair that's what looks different he never had an afro that was the guitar player Neil Shon but he did have hair like in when you love a woman his hair was down to his waist almost in the escape tour it was like full of his shoulders hills had long hair except for in separate ways he had a nut kind of a shorter haircut but I was preferred him with his long hair I loved it when it was down to his waist I watched a video yesterday called Steve Perry versus Sam Cooke and it was amazing how much they sound alike Sam Cooke with Steve Perry's idol actually it was Steve Perry versus Sam Cooke part 1 you should check that out if you get a chance

Check out from the Traces album Angel eyes, Easy to love, Sunshines gray and could we be something again. Those have R&B tones. I am hoping that if he puts out another album that the new album will be all R&B or more than usual R&B. Sometimes it’s hard to tell the difference between Steve singing and Sam Cooke he is just that good at R&B. He also has a Christmas album called the seasons I’m also hoping he’ll put out a second Christmas album. Steve is still the best voice ever! 🥰 I am so blessed to have met him. He is such a sweetheart. ✌🏻out from this die hard Perry girl😎

Somewhere there's hope and you better wait are great from for the love of strange medicine solo record, his second silo release. A lot of complex and diverse songs. Took over 3 years with a new band he put together to write the record and record it. That record was more if a combined unit recording. Steve's first solo effort and Traces were written and done with many session musicians and guest artists.. Each solo record has a very different feel. Street Talk was recorded quicky and explored Steve's riots and live if Motown and R & B and as a tribute to his first band Alien project, derailed after a band member was killed in a motorcycle accident. Traces was a very personal recording for him with a lot of personal emotions and cathartic writing following the death of his girlfriend to cancer and the therapy he's gone through over the years to deal with some personal demons despite his success. Sunshines Grey and We're Still Here even Angel Eyes are with the listen as well as no more cryin. Steve said he would never write it record something just to do it vs. Doing it because he had something to say or convey. I think a if his solo work despite the gaps between I the past reflects his statements. Lots of songs worthy of a listen. I think somewhere there's hope is a masterpiece you would love. Thanks for taking the Journey and exploring Steve.
